I spent the summer of 2025 in the Troy, NY area and in searching for a school to train and practice Jiu Jitsu, I found this place… super glad I did. I trialed it for a day and knew right away it was a great place and a fit for me. At the time, I was transitioning to a blue belt as a 55 year old hobbyist. All kinds of folks, lots of class options (Muay Thai, wrestling, boxing, gi/no-gi, morning, etc.) and the owner/Brian and community was super welcoming. The classes were well run with great instructors. No egos, very respectful students, and everyone is there to improve their Jiu Jitsu. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the greater Albany area and I certainly plan to be there again when I visit next year.
Posted 11 months agoHead Instuctor Brian runs a clean, professional BJJ facility with a fantastic atmosphere. The coaches are highly knowledgeable, and everyone treats each other as true training partners, helping one another grow in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Posted 1 year agoUnbeatable atmosphere. Super welcoming and great kids program. Thank you Brian.
Love this place so much, Brian was willing to sit down with me and talk about my issues when my head was cloudy. Very humble man and team definitely come visit if you have the time!
Brian is an excellent instructor and motivator. Stop by and start a 1 week long free trial
Every time I have gone to this gym, I have been met with nothing but kindness and respect. Everyone is super knowledgeable and the high level belts are trying to teach more than hurt, and there are a ton of people that attend. In my most recent session I was paired with 3 black belts as a white belt in a training session and they all gave incredible feedback as we were rolling. They took it pretty easy on me, but kept the appropriate pressure so I had to survive and that in itself was an incredible workout. If you're looking to compete, pick up a new hobby, make some friends, or just stay in shape; You've found your mecca.
So far black belt Devin given me private lessons and done great, I have improved my grappling game taking privates there with him
I have been going to Brian Beaury Jiu Jitsu for a little over two years now. I showed up with the intention of learning BJJ and have stayed because of the friends I have made. This place has built a culture to help students learn and have fun at the same time. The staff ensures that we are challenged and continue to grow in our BJJ journey. I strongly recommend this place to anyone at any level who is looking to learn, grow and be apart of an awesome community.
I recently started attending classes here. Very friendly, patient and welcoming from the get go. Highly recommend
Love the new gym! Loved the old one, too. Brian has cultivated an inclusive, diverse, and safe culture with a challenging and educational set of programs run by skilled coaches. Whether you want the cardio of boxing 🥊, Muay Thai in the striking room, or to roll and practice BJJ as an adult or kid, this is a great place to get involved. I’m so thankful everyday to have found this incredible gym for mixed martial arts in the capital district and I know I’m leaving this review so others will, too, but I also would love to keep it a secret! Every visit I learn so much from the coaches and deepen my connection with this amazing community of athletes.
Best BJJ classes and Muaythai classes I ever seen, great coaches and teammates❤️🫡
Amazing gym. Even better people. 12 out of 10 recommend
I have never practiced BJJ and had an absolutely phenomenal experience at my first class. I was hesitant attending an “all levels” class but from the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with friendly faces and professionalism. Brian is incredibly knowledgeable and patient, catering to all skill levels with equal attention and care. The facility is immaculate, and the sense of community among members is unparalleled. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, this gym offers the perfect environment to learn and grow in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I can't recommend it highly enough.
My son and daughter have participated in Brian’s Jujitsu for sometime now and the confidence that they both have is amazing! Thank you so much!
Traveling for work and dropped in for a class. Welcoming environment and good jiu-jitsu. If I'm in the area again I will be back!
I think it has a really great training facility. I am enjoying my time so far.
It was a good time. Milkshakes and arm bars
I live an hour away from here and have been to a lot of places to train but this place is by far the best!! I was treated like a long time member right from day one with their friendly atmosphere and everyone is there to improve but also help each other. I am proud to train under coach Beaury and plan to continue representing his business with honor and respect!
Genuine, friendly, welcoming attitudes from everyone. I recommend BBJJ to everyone for BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing and MMA.
I can’t say enough about the overall experience here. I started training with Brian about 5 years ago and being completely new to Jiu Jitsu and Martial Arts as a whole felt comfortable and welcome from day 1. Everyone I’ve met from the gym has been supportive and friendly. Brian is very knowledgeable and passionate about his art and makes training both an enriching and fun experience. I’ve referred several friends to the gym and will continue to do so!
Clean, courteous and accommodating. Brian Beaury Jiu-Jitsu hosts a diverse team of men, woman and children of all skill levels. The coaches are friendly and knowledgeable. There are a variety of class types and times to suit your needs whether you’re a casual enthusiast or a professional competitor. The training facility is beautiful and well maintained. I usually drive an hour to and from this academy with no regrets several times a week. Highly recommend.
Great instruction and a friendly environment. Teammates always willing to help you when needed and a women’s only class once a week. Can’t wait to get back to it.
Everyone at this Gym is fantastic!! My 7 year old son loves going there and he loves his coaches. They are very friendly and professional!! They go above and beyond. I would highly recommend Brian Beaury Jiu Jitsu!!
Went here back in the fall for a few classes; cant wait to go back when it reopens! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming to new-comers like myself.
An upstanding Jiu Jitsu gym with lots to offer. Including one of the largest female BJJ member groups in the area. Friendly atmosphere that welcomes all regardless of affiliation. Excellent instruction & training.
Great team atmosphere. Always someone to help you with a technique from both a physical and conceptual perspective. A great place for beginners and seasoned competitors alike.
I like that there are classes available that are geared towards beginners, and the relaxed atmosphere of the gym. It's a good fit for me, as an older person starting BJJ as a hobby and to become more fit. There are definitely people who are very serious competitors there, though, as well.
Can't beat this gym. Awesome coaching, training partners, and environment to grow.
Was looking for something to fill a void and found it here. I've known Brian for a long time and he delivers a great atmosphere at his gym. All instructors are really nice and helpful. I haven't met a person at this gym yet that isn't looking to help in any way they can. Just an all around great place to be. Love it here.
Top notch instruction and a friendly atmosphere.
Effective instruction and technique, a good range of disciplines/skill levels, and a supportive, chill class culture. Proud to be part of it!
I was Brian’s first official student and there’s a reason why I’ve remained a member of the team for almost seven years — you won’t find better training! Brian provides stellar instruction in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment. The team is incredibly welcoming to the point where training here feels like being a part of a family. You will not only strengthen your physical health through your practice, but also your mental health and overall character. I could not recommend this place more!
The coaches and people who train here are the best. The place and equipment are well maintained and very clean. I'm glad I found my second Jiu-Jitsu home and family here Albany. Best Jiu-Jitsu school in Albany!
I've been with the place since it opened. Great place, great group of people, great training, very friendly environment and in my opinion Brian Beaury is the best black belt in the capital region. You will definitely get top notch jiu-jitsu lessons and skills training under Brian Beaury.
Brian has been an amazing coach for my daughter! Would highly recommend!
Great instruction, good people, and clean facilities
Great gym. Friendly and constructive atmosphere. If they can teach me, they can teach anyone!
Training atmosphere here is excellent. Everyone is respectful and kind, and the few instances when they are not the owner has stepped in to address the problem. It’s also an excellent place for women to train because not only is everyone respectful but there is a large group of women who train here and a women’s only Jiujitsu class every week. Great instructors, great environment, and great training partners!
My son has taken class with Brian Beaury for a little over a year now. He is great with the children. I have watched my son grow and learn so much over the year. Highly recommend. All of the guys and women that train at the gym are very friendly and always giving positive feedback to the kids. Very clean facility.
Awesome environment to learn BJJ, Muay Thai and boxing. Great instructors and good people. Good kids class too.
Extremely down to earth and humble training environment. No ego here. As a new student, all of the training partners I've had are respectful and never try to crush you by any means. Very good pace to learn here!
This is a really cool gym! They have two great mat spaces upstairs and another mat/bag area downstairs. The environment is very welcoming and I got a chance to attend two classes while traveling. Definitely a must for BJJ training in Albany/Troy.
Had a great time when I was back home for Thanksgiving! Everyone there was very friendly and Brian was a fantastic professor. Will definitely come back!
Awesome place. Such a cool building/mat area. Everyone was super welcoming. You can tell they have good bjj community at this gym. Definitely recommend!
I was in the area for a little while waiting to hear back about jobs and Brian was cool about letting me free trial and then pay month to month. The long term rate is pretty great would have definitely taken advantage of it if I was staying in the area but ended up moving to the West coast for a new job. Month to month is maybe a little pricey imo but the month to month rate is the same rate as other gyms in the area so take that for what its worth. I trialed just about every gym in the area and this was the best imo. No dorky self defense curriculum or excessive formalities, just plenty of rolling time, varied classes and great instruction, plus they have striking.
Supportive atmosphere, awesome training partners, and a coach who lives the jiu jitsu life and loves to share his passion for the art.
Want to be Challenged, need to sharpen your skills or just learn something new! Brian Beaury Bjj is the gym to attend! Delivering a variety of Mixed Arts, & multiple Coaches working as One with the individuals. Begginers / Intermiediate / Masters. This Gyms for everyone! Brian B. is great with the kids and very knowledgeable. This gym has a variety of classes to choose from. Both my son and I train here and we love it :)
This is a great place to train if you're just starting out or if you've been training for years. You get exposed to a wide variety of techniques with a strong emphasis on the fundamentals. The best part is the people are great too! Highly recommend
I've been here a few years now and never had anything but excellent instruction and top class training partners.
You couldn't ask for a better coach, you wouldn't be disappointed training here!!
There is no better teach and mentor out there. Not only is he knowledgeable but genuinely cares about each n every single student.
A great environmen/group of guys for training and learning from a world class black belt. Best gym in the area to roll!
Brian and the coaches are great and the variety of classes offered here are just as great and a lot of fun.
Brian and the coaches are great and the variety of classes offered here are just as great and a lot of fun.
I have trained here since it has opened and wouldn't train anywhere else. World class instruction (literally, look up Brian Beaury) and a friendly group of guys and gals that come in regularly to train.
Excellent gym. Brian knows what he's doing.
Kids class: He’s good with my boys, Strict and firm. I love what they get out of his classes. Brian is a good coach.
I have trained in many different gyms and Brian's is top notch. Great classes for all levels.
Hands down the best school in the area. Brian Beaury is a great instructor. The people that train there are always respectful and genuine. I would recommend this school to anyone. From beginners to the most advanced.
Best bjj facility I have ever been too. It is a great environment for training, learning and making new friends. Brian Beaury is an awesome coach and extremely talented bjj blackbelt. Besides his exceptional talent, Brian stands out because of his dedication to the sport. He teaches nearly 100% of the bjj classes at the school. He is there teaching the morning and night classes and is practically at the gym 7 days a week. I have been training here since it opened and would recommend the gym to all. It is also great for learning striking and other martial arts. There are excellent coaches that are willing to work with you. Brian Beaury, the Other coaches and the great students make brian Beaury bjj the best place to train bjj and other martial arts.
By far the best BJJ in Albany. Brain Beaury holds a Black Belt and teaches virtually every Jiu Jitsu class. He is one of the few instructors in the 518 that actually compete regularly and make it to the podium on a regular basis in the Black Belt divisions in some of the most prestigious tournaments in Jiu Jitsu ( 2013 Abu Dhabi Pro Trails Black Belt Gold Medalist and 2014 Pan American No-Gi Silver Medalist Black Belt division) to name a couple of dozens. Jake Lenard also holds a Black Belt and teaches the no-gi class Saturday. Jake brings a wealth of knowledge to class that he has collected from traveling the country training with various UFC and BJJ champions. The students at Brian Beaury Jiu Jitsu range from Brown Belt, a hand full of technical Purple Belts and some very dedicated and hard working Blue and Whilte Belts. The environment and culture there is based on respect, good times, and constant improvement. With Brian and Jakes technical approach to teaching leaving out no detail the students are learning the highest level of modern Jiu Jitsu in a structured yet laid back and positive format
When I first came here, I was looking for a challenge. Someone who would push me beyond my limits. As someone who practices TKD for many years, I wanted to expand my knowledge and skill on different martial arts, and improve my grappling techniques. Brian has been very proficient and straightforward during our sessions, and I like the welcoming atmosphere of this place.
Arrived for my first class at the old location only to find upon arrival that the location had changed without notice. Called to obtain the new location and was advised by the Secretary that a message would have to be sent to the owner (who would get back to me at a later date) in order for me to obtain the new location. Absolutely ridiculous! I immediately decided to attend a different Martial Arts school from this experience alone.
