  Dan is an awesome teacher! He is very thorough and patient and breaks things down into easy to follow steps. HE also explains the moves as they pertain to real world potential situations . I really enjoyed taking class with Dan and hope to do more in the future. I recommend his classes especially the self defense classes for anyone with teens.

  I have been in Dan's Combat Hapkido class for just over a year. Dan is a great instructor with a lifetime of experience in martial arts who truly enjoys teaching. Unlike other schools, Prendergast Self Defense is not all about making money. There are no contracts, no commitment to a long term "black-belt program" or selling overpriced equipment. You can order a tee shirt, but that's about it. The class atmosphere is very relaxed which makes learning the techniques enjoyable. Some of the moves almost seem too simple, but they are extremely effective. I would not want to be on the receiving end of them in a real world situation. Whether you are interested in self-defense classes or beginning the Combat Hapkido journey, you will not find a better instructor than Dan Prendergast.

  Dan Prendergast is the best martial arts instructor I’ve had. He is patient, positive, and uses very clear communications in his directions. Combat Hapkido is a fantastic study of body mechanics. You (and your opponent) know when you complete the move correctly!
