  My daughter started her jiu jitsu journey with Simon at bjjin a few months ago and im really glad I signed her up. Simon is a wonderful coach, super friendly and great with the kids! Everyone there is so lovely and welcoming!

  This is unmistakably the best place to train jiujitsu in Norfolk. I have been a member of the academy for 4+ years and never had any doubts that this was the most well rounded place to train. It wasn't until I began visiting other academies, both in the UK and abroad, that it became apparent how fortunate we are to train here. In addition to the training, I have made some truly great friends along the way. The coaching team, led by Simon, are all fantastic - very welcoming and supportive. This attitude runs through the team, with long-standing members welcoming new starters and visitors alike. The weekly class schedule is well balanced between Gi and No-Gi, with the option of more technique focused or competitive sessions. As an added bonus, Simon actively brings some of the best talent in the sport to the academy for seminars (Ash Williams, Daniel Strauss, Emma Bruntil), at really affordable prices. If you're in two minds about giving BJJ a try, this is definitely the place to pique your curiosity. I can personally recommend the intro course for beginners!

  Simon & his team have been really welcoming to my anxious son who has recently joined his BJJ classes. After a couple of trials elsewhere the difference is noticeable in friendliness, facility and fun! My son struggles in new environments but he can’t wait to go each lesson. Looking forward to watching his confidence grow.

  I’ve spent a decent amount of time trying different martial arts and experiencing different groups over the years. The best way to understand quite how unique Tōukon is in Norwich under Simon and Obi is to just spend time with the people they teach, their attitude, skill and knowledge is what made me instantly click with the culture and environment they have cultivated. This school is a gem.

  I started the academy in October 2025 after attending the introduction course. This course was great way to see if Ju Jitsu was right for me. Since attending the course I have found a new love for Ju Jitsu and for the academy. Simon is a fantastic coach and everyone at the academy makes you feel welcomed and a part of the family. I have now got my 11 year old daughter into the kids classes. She is 5 weeks in and really enjoying it. I have noticed an improvement on the mats and at home (what a bonus). I couldn’t recommend the academy enough if you (or a family member) want to get into Ju Jitsu.

  My son has been training at The Toukon Academy in Norwich for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Simon is an incredible instructor—highly skilled, patient, and truly passionate about teaching. He creates a positive and supportive environment, and beyond just teaching the sport, he instills important values like confidence, discipline, and respect, which have had a great impact on my son both on and off the mats. The academy is well-organized, clean, and welcoming to all levels. My son looks forward to every session, and it’s amazing to see his progress.   I'm lucky to have trained in many countries around the world. I am even luckier to have found such a great place to call my home now. Simon is a great coach and good friend and as his assistant coach, blessed to have been promoted to Black Belt last year. You could do a lot worse than to come and train here. The team and the students are borne out of a welcoming and accommodating culture. This IS the best club in Norwich, hands down!
