Mr Santiago is one of the best! He has such a kind genuine heart and truly understands how to make a black belt. Each and every student that walks through those doors receives the ultimate level of customer service. The afterschool program at ATA Martial Arts Edgewood is also truly exceptional. If you are looking to learn martial arts in Hartford County, ATA Martial Arts is the best and only choice!
This place is great. My granddaughter started here in the after-school program at age 5. She is now 12 and still enjoying the classes. Last night she received her recommend black belt and we are so proud of her. The owners and staff have always been respectful and patient to my granddaughter and she likes them all. I have seen her confidence improve greatly. She is now talking about becoming an instructor there in the future. I would like to give a special thank you to instructor Mr. Santiago, as well as all the staff. They are so dedicated to the craft and the children. ATA is a great place for children to learn discipline, confidence, respect and so much more.

When we first joined ATA in Edgewood, we were not sure what to expect. It was my son’s first-time trying Taekwondo. When we arrived, the instructors were friendly and spent time talking to my son to get to know him. I can tell all the instructors genuinely care about the students. However, Ms. Pollard stands out. Ms. Pollard has an amazing way with kids. The children in her class really respond well to her. She has a special ability to teach. She expects respect from each of her students and in return she has an unprecedented dedication to helping them succeed. She effectively helps them overcome challenges and keeps their attention. She knows how to build confidence. As a result, my son looks forward to going every time. He is developing a great skill set because Ms. Pollard knows how to interact effectively with him. Our experience at ATA in Edgewood has more than exceeded expectations. We recommend ATA to everyone!
I love ATA its was so fun for my kids!! I have a hard time getting my kids to focus on one thing but ATA really helped them out my 7 year old daughter was shy but now she really loves the people at ATA she really loves this place and how they talk and have fun with them and take the time to learn about my kids and show how they care. I really hope other people come and support this wonderful place!!!
The entire staff is very welcoming and nice. My grandson loves it here. He looks forward to coming and wishes he could come every day. He’s looking forward to getting his black belt one day.

We signed our son up in 2018 in the tiger program. I can't say enough about his confidence and growth over the years. We were so happy that we signed our daughter up to give her an activity that some of her friends were already involved in. She has done nothing but thrive and we can't wait to see what the future holds for both. Mr. Miller and his team do a great job of understanding each student and their families and get to know everyone individually.
ATA martial arts lessons are great for my son to improve his independent skills, pay attention to details and belief in his inner power to overcome challenges - I am so glad!
I signed my daughter up a little over 2 years ago now. She loves everything about this program, especially Ms. Pollard. She is absolutely wonderful! Ms. Pollard does such a wonderful job coaching and teaching our kids, and really knows how to have fun with them! I look forward to seeing her grow and continue to form strong bonds with our kids!

ATA at Edgewood location is a great program. My son loves it. Mr. Miller and all of the staff are so good with the kids! I have seen a big difference in my son has special need Karate is more as discipline, he improvement in school, works a lot on his speech and language, his therapist is very impressive with his progress. This program isn't just a sport, its translates into home life as well.

My son loves Ata, he attends the edgewood location for the after school program and martial arts this is so convenient for us because he gets after school care and extracurricular activities all in one! The staff is very respectful and polite! Thank you mr miller for being a great instructor for my son! ATA is a great program. My son started June of last year and loves it. Mr. Miller and all of the staff are so good with the kids! I have seen a big difference in my son as far as discipline, confidence, and improvement in school. This program isn't just a sport, its translates into home life as well.
Both of my children have been attending ATA since August. Although my daughter has been involved in martial arts since 4 years old (she will be 9 in a few weeks), the discipline and technique behind the skill has matured. My husband and I are impressed with ATA, and proud of their growth. This may have started out as a skill for them to learn, but ATA is successfully turning it into a lifestyle.
Our kids have fun while learning great skills. We love the Edgewood location.
Mr. Miller and all the instructors do a phenomenal job at teaching our young community life skills. My son is excited everytime he hits the mat, and you can see the same excitement in his classmates. My family and I love ATA.

My daughter has been going to ATA Edgewood for about 7 months and she look forward to coming every week. Karate has really help her with her confidence and pushes her to be better. The instructors are amazing, very patient and supportive. I love how they encourage a lot of teamwork with the kids. I would highly recommend ATA!!!
Great place for kids to build confidence, discipline and get some great exercise!
My daughter looks forward every week to going to karate. During the pandemic this was a way for her to get out of the house in a safe environment and to get some exercise. She was able to meet lots of new friends. All of the instructors are awesome and they do a lot to boast the confidence of the kids. I would highly recommend ATA!!

ATA has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The amount of attention each child gets in class is top notch. My daughter has been with them since August and she not only has fun, but has also learned a lot of new things she’s integrated into everyday life. All of the instructors we’ve worked with so far have been phenomenal. I highly recommend these folks if you want to start your child (or self!) in martial arts.
My son has been going to ATA Edgewood for about 5 months and I have seen him progress every week. He has more confidence in himself and is proud of his accomplishments. The teachers are always patient and supportive, making sure that he's doing things correctly, but encouraging him every step of the way. I couldn't be more pleased with our choice to send him to these classes.
We continue to be impressed with ATA Martial Arts in Edgewood. All the management, staff, and interns display nothing but professionalism and respect for all the students. Our kids started at ATA in the beginning of 2020 (pre-Covid!). Immediately after earning their first new belt all the shutdowns happened and the school had to physically close. However, the instruction never paused. ATA was very quick to develop an online platform to continue training. The communication through this uncertain time never ceased; they kept us well informed every step of the way and for that we are very grateful. Our kids were able to keep some level of "normalcy" while earning stripes for their new belts at home. ATA was/continues to be very creative in training students and offering the best learning experience possible. Our kids look forward to attending class every week and are eager to learn, practice, and develop new skills with their instructors. We absolutely recommend ATA Martial Arts!
I have two kids that have been going here since January and absolutely love it! The instructors are professional and understand how to allow kids to have fun while learning Taekwondo. I have watched our girls grow in confidence and physical ability weekly since beginning training here. During the COVID-19 shutdowns there was virtually no lag time before they transitioned to online learning before they were allowed to start outside classes again. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to start or continue their Taekwondo training.
ATA has truly been one of the best decisions we could have made for our daughter! We have been attending the after school program at the edgewood location since the start of the school year and have had 0 complaints! Mrs. Frank and all of the instructors have been really great to work with and I can tell how much they enjoy working with the children. I recommend ATA in edgewood to anyone of all ages!

My son has been attending the after school program at ATA in Edgewood since September and I can already say without hesitation that this is one of the best decisions we have ever made for our son. He has finally found his confidence, is making friends, coming out of his shell and has a greater respect for those around him. No matter the age I recommend you consider their program for yourself or your child. The teachers are respectful and work with the kids on their level. The locations are inviting and extremely professional. Additionally the owners are involved, easily approachable and make a point to know every family personally.
Great program for all ages! My three children (6,8,13)attend and I have seen such a transition in their confidence and academic performance. They provide a positive yet structured approach when training and it really works! My children are motivated and excited to go to class each day they train. They look forward to earning their next belt and enjoy the challenges set forth by their instructors. I couldn’t ask for a better outlet for my kids. Thank you!
We LOVE ATA Martial Arts Edgewood! My son and daughter both have learned so much so far and are excited to keep continuing their martial arts journey! I love ATA! Mrs. Frank is awesome! My 7yo has been going here for 2 years now for Afterschool. He loves it, I love that he gets to practice martial arts AND help w/ his hw 🤗 I can definitely say my son has gained more confidence, self control and is more disciplined. ATA is a great place for my 5 yr old to burn off his extra energy. We did the 6 week trial back in March to see how it worked and he absolutely loved it. It has taught him so much like, teamwork, self control, discipline, and listening skills. He works hard through the Tiger program to earn his stripes.

My family and I love ATA Martial Arts! I have 3 children that are enrolled in the Edgewood location and they all love it! My oldest, a 13 year old boy wasn’t interested in participating before I signed him up because he wanted to play video games all day. After his first class, he fell in love with the program! This is a fun but educational environment for them to learn Martial Arts, as well as life long tools. I am extremely impressed with the attentiveness each student is given by the instructors. Mrs Frank is an amazing instructor and holds her other instructors to the same standard. Enrolling my children at ATA Martial Arts was a great investment. I would highly recommend them!
My children have been participating in Martial Arts at ATA Martial Arts in Edgewood for about 6 months and I have seen a huge difference in my 10 year old daughter’s behavior. She has been more focused and goal oriented in class which carries over to her fault activities. Mrs Frank is amazing with the children and keeps everything running smoothly. The instructors are really patient and make sure that all of the students get the time and attention they need to learn what is expected of them. I’d definitely recommend ATA Martial Arts!
ATA is a great place for your kids to learn Martial arts. Mrs. Frank is a great instructor, as well as all of the other instructors. The kids must earn everything, nothing is given which is one of the reasons I recommend this place for your children. They also have activities for kids when school is out, also after school hours.
This school has all you need and could want in a Martial Arts school. Dedicated instructors who are well trained, world class athletes who eagerly mentor and assist students, and owners that are involved in every aspect. The owners show their commitment and pride for each student.
My 7 year old daughter started at ATA Forest Hill a little over a year ago. She struggled with self confidence and focus. Ms Oleary and her team have helped her grow each day stronger and believe in herself. We are happy that we took a chance and signed her up when she wanted to try martial arts. Mr and Mrs Frank run and manage and excellent learning experience for all children. The discipline, time and effort they put into their well ran facilities is impressive and most importantly appreciated by our family. My son adores and looks up to all of the instructors as well. An overall great group and excellent with kids. I highly recommend it, you won’t be sorry!
ATA martial arts in Edgewood has a great program. My 5 year old daughter has learned so much and enjoys working hard for her stripes and belts. All the instructors really take the time to work with each child and Mrs. Frank not only knows all the children but gets to know their siblings and parents spectating in the crowd. I'm looking forward to enrolling my other two children!
We just signed our grandson up for leadership. Mrs. O’Leary and Mr.& Mrs. Frank run an outstanding program. They spend a lot of time teaching their students. They have a good group of instructors. I highly recommend coming here.

The program is awesome. It's so much more than Taekwondo and physical skills as I originally thought. It has taught my son focus, discipline, commitment, teamwork, and has encouraged healthy competition. But what I love most is that it is the most positive environment we have encountered in any recreational/sport setting. EVERYONE is so supportive and helpful, the interns are so professional and take time to really build relationships with the kids, and under the supervision and direction of Ms. Frank it's been amazing to watch my son thrive and feed off the energy. So thankful to have found it!

Mrs. Frank and the entire staff at ATA in Edgewood exceed all expectations! My son is in the after school and junior belt ranking program, and just in the few months he's been there our family has seen extreme improvements. Not just in discipline, but self confidence, healthy and inspiring sparked interests, all around respect, and even bringing up grades in school, just to name a few. ATA Edgewood is the perfect balance of professionalism mixed with a kid friendly environment. As a parent, you hope that your child will find "something" that they love to do. My son has found that here at ATA! The best part is...I love it, too! We signed our 5 year-old son up for ATA with hopes this would be a place that he could make friends, gain confidence, and keep active. From day 1, the entire staff was incredibly welcoming to our son and made his experience better than we could have ever asked for. ATA drives all students with positive reinforcements, which was so important since martial arts was so new to our family and we all have a lot to learn. The teachers have taken our shy, quiet boy and allowed him to grow into the loudest kid in his class with such confidence and drive, that we didn't know he had in him! He is excited to go to class each week and often stays after class to play with the other kids and watch the "big kids" practice. We cannot wait to see how he will continue to grow, thanks to Mrs. Frank and her amazing group of interns and staff.
My 11 year old son joined ATA with Mrs. Frank and her team in April of 2018, and its the best choice we've made for him. We started with the 2 week program to see if it was something he might enjoy, well enjoy was an understatement!!!! He came out the 1st day LOVING it, and it was clear he was becoming a member of ATA Edgewood! So sitting with Mrs. Frank about registering our son was simple, and best of all AFFORDABLE. Our son was announced a member that day to his new team, and I'll never forget the smile on his face and reading his lips saying Thank You! Our only wish is we would have signed our son up sooner. Just recently our son was chosen to become a member of the Leadership Program, and boy did we cry. We cant thank Mrs.Frank and her team enough for what they have brought out in our son, Respect, Discipline, Strength, Patience,and best of all self confidence. We truly cant wait to see what the future holds for our son with Mrs. Frank and her team guiding him. I have so much passion and honor for everyone at ATA Edgewood!
My 5 1/2 year old has been attending classes at ATA Edgewood for nearly six months and she just loves it...so much so that she'll be attending the after-school program in September when she starts kindergarten. She has met lots of new friends, has gained more confidence, and is even perfecting her listening skills. She loves to share what she's learned with her little sister as well as her classmates in preschool; she's so proud!
I have a 9yr old son and a 6yr old daughter that go here. They love their classes and I love it there. My daughter is a very shy child and since starting here she is coming out of her shell and making new friends. The staff and the other parents are awesome! You're will feel so loved and supported with the way the parents/instructors cheer for them💙
Our daughter joined ATA in Edgewood, MD a few months ago and it has quickly become the highlight of her week! In just a few short months she has released her nervousness of trying something new ( she had never done martial arts prior) and made a bunch of new friends including two that she calls her best friends! Mrs. Frank and her instructors are absolutely engaging with everyone, kids and parents, and knows each and everyone by name. It’s a great excercise/ energy burner, discipline creator, builder of pride, joy, excitement and respect. The tiger system truly promotes a eagerness to gain skills and achieve the next success which I can clearly see how it will translate to her future as she grows up. Our kids started ATA one year ago and have joined a great community of students, parents and instructors. They have learned that in order to move forward in rank and in life hat you must put in the work to achieve what you want and that failing is fine as long as you learn from it and get better from these failures. One great example just happened the weekend, my son was in leadership class and was the last to fisnish working with a new weapon. The other student stated cheering him on he keep him going and encouraging him.

Mrs. Frank is great with kids. My son's behavioral issues has decreased 90%. My caught has finally found a sports passion at 12 years old. Mrs. Frank pushes them to demonstrate manners and discipline. Can't wait until my little ones can join. My kids are so proud of themselves and so am I. If your looking into ata I highly recommend it

My 3 children expressed interest in starting martial arts and after visiting many karate schools in the area we found the perfect fit with ATA Forest Hill. We have been members since October 2015. My children started the program and I soon joined the adult class for both the fitness and the fun. We have attended every program ATA offers, including the tigers, juniors, adult, and leadership classes. Each and every program has exceeded my expectations. My children have learned self confidence, physical fitness, good nutrition, discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Each class challenges them while keeping them engaged and having fun. Mrs. O’Leary is an exceptional instructor and has been an amazing role model for my children. She is able to connect with each child individually and give them the confidence to succeed no matter what their skill level is. In addition to the martial arts, ATA Forest Hill has many other activities that our family has enjoyed, including Nerf night, parents night out, trunk or treat, board break-a-thon, Mother’s Day workout, and Father’s Day workout. We have truly found a second family at ATA Forest Hill!
My son has been a student of ATA in Forest Hill since January of 2016. Our experiences with their Tiger program have led us to making it a family sport with myself and husband currently enrolled in adult class as well. Mrs O'Leary is an amazing instructor who truly understands children and what values/skills they need at a young age. We have had the pleasure of watching our son (age 6) grow and mature in the areas of respect, integrity and self-control amongst the skills taught in class as well. Anyone looking for a challenge for themselves or a program to enrich their children socially, academically, and emotionally should highly consider joining the ATA family.
Our daughter attends ATA Martial Arts in Edgewood, Maryland. We initially enrolled her with the hope of improving focus, self-confidence, and self-discipline. We could not be happier with the results thus far. ATA Martial Arts is operated by Mr. & Mrs. Frank who are more than just business owners, they are instructors as well. They take a genuine interest in all of the students. Both of the Franks, along with their entire staff, are friendly, energetic, and motivational to all of the students. My son has rejoined the ATA family at Edgewood after 15 months and was welcome by Mrs. and Mr. Frank with open arms. I have no doubt ATA will rebuild his confidence, skills and lessen his shyness. The moment you walk in the door you're treated with the upmost respect. Not just from the staff but from the kids as well. That's what made my mind up to enroll my Daughter. Not only do the kids enjoy it but the parents as well. Funny for all.
ATA Martial Arts is a wonderful place to start your kids on a great program. My Son has been there over a year, and in that time he has learned so many wonderful attributes not only from the Owners Mr. and Mrs. Frank, but also from the instructors and fellow students alike. Things like, Discipline, Respect, Teamwork, Self Reliance, Self Worth, and of course Self Defense. I would recommend ATA Martial Arts to any parent with children at any age. It is never too late to start.
It's a family friendly environment and they're very welcoming and polite. Just give them TWO months notice if you decide to discontinue
At first my grandson was scared with no confidence, now he loves his instructors and is very proud of himself when he gets a new belt
My child was in taekwondo for over 3yrs with this company. She decided she was no longer interested in participating in taekwondo. Once you are in a contract with them be prepared to stay for the entire contract or pay the remaining balance in full. They do not offer a buyout. What I did notice that if you are in there circle they will release you of your contract with no fees. They also take forever to answer questions. I asked for a copy of my contract which I never received. I also asked if we decided to finish out our last 4 months could she stay at her normal class because she was afraid to go into adult classes. She just turned 14. She had previously received a concussion from a tournament she was in when she was12 due to them putting her in a wrong age group which I brought to several peoples attention and nothing was done about it. I sent emails to upper management about terminating her contract which were never answered by upper management. I was also told when I wrote my final check to terminate my child's contract it had to be handed to a specific person. I wasn't allowed to give it to her instructor at her location. Had to make a special trip to Belair. Once we handed them the final check we were told my daughter was welcome to come back anytime. Bless there heart. On a good note the instructors were very kind, courteous, polite and knowledgeable when it came to taekwondo.
When reading the reviews, keep in mind that they are offering parents sizable discounts on the $450 equipment set for proof of positive reviews. My kids had an horrible experience. Enrolled my oldest for some discipline and my youngest for some confidence and discipline as she struggles with autism and the owner stood nose to nose with and screamed at her mid class.
Do NOT waste your money here. The owners are extremely disrespectful. And of course now they are accusing me of yelling at an intern when I NEVER did. However I did get upset after the owner started treating me with disrespect. How can you pride yourself in teaching respect when you yourself have little respect for the parents.
