They push your child to excellence while building their character the whole time. ATA Martial Arts in Bel Air is one of the most premium places to learn what being a martial artist truly means. Incredible school, instructors and owners. They didn't only teach my 2 boys self-defense, But they learned confidence, discipline, following instructions and respect. They feel so empowered by being part of the ATA taekwondo family. Since we joined, I noticed incredible improvement at school and home as well. The instructors carefully push my boys just a bit out of their comfort zone to prepare them for a new challenge and closely work with them on how to comfortably overcome it. Joining this school was the best decision we made for my 2 boys and the family :)

Ata Martial Arts isn't just a place for your children to learn Taekwondo. For our family it has become a second home. Our son has been going here for 4 years and it has helped shape him into the young man we want him to be. As for our daughter she has been here for 2 yrs and it has helped her build the confidence she knew she had within all along! The Frank's and their team are amazing at what they do and we couldn't ask for a better home away from home!
We became part of the ATA Bel Air family when my oldest was 5. We went in not knowing what to expect as I’m sure many readers might feel. Let me tell you what to expect. Your child will not only learn taekwondo but they will also learn respect, perseverance, and develop confidence. They will learn what success feels like but they will also learn about failure and how to work through that. The instructors and the Franks are simply amazing. They truly care for your child and are such amazing role models for the younger kids. My older son is now part of their leadership team and we just started my younger son. I cannot wait to continue to watch my boys thrive under the Franks and ATA Bel Air. If you are looking for your children to join a “family” and not just a team this is the place!
Totally new to Taekwondo but the experience from the time we walked in the door for the first class to the first belt promotion has been exceptional. Everyone is welcoming. Plus it's nice to see so many of the instructors are state and world champs. I would absolutely recommend ATA Bel Air to anyone looking for top notch Taekwondo training. Looking forward to watching my children grow in their skills and confidence with ATA.

Our daughter has been attending ATA for 3 years, starting from when she was 3 years old. Throughout the years she had never come home from class with a negative experience. She has been there for camp for the full summer the last two years and joined the after care program last year. She loves it and wants to attend all the events - Parent Night Outs, competitions, day camps, etc. The instructors work wonderfully with the students and are nurturing yet have a strong work ethic. Classes are well run. There is fabulous communication by the owners and you can not beat the price for two classes per week and everything your child will learn. I highly recommend ATA.

ATA, where do I even begin… This is something our 8 year old son has been asking to join for roughly a year. We made him wait till he was 8 to make sure it was something he really wanted. Why 8? Who knows. But I can honestly say I wish we didn’t wait so long to sign him up. This is the greatest part of his week and we have truly seen a change in his behavior, for the better. He has never not felt included nor has he ever left a session at ATA saying he did not have a good time. Every class is entertaining, and not just for the kids. Countless times, we find ourselves chuckling in our seats at the wittiness of the instructors during their interactions with their class. The instructors really are so engaging and Mrs. Frank is an absolute rockstar! In any given session you will find her fielding parents questions, helping instruct class, planning for a future event, or giving one on one attention to help her students become their best self. My husband and I are glad we waited to join ATA until our son expressed the interest because we know how much our son really appreciates being here. We also wish we didn’t wait so long because we could have been enjoying our time here even sooner. Its true what they say though, the best things are worth the wait.
My son has found his place here and I couldn’t be happier! He loves the challenge and he is super motivated to continue through all the levels.
My 8-year-old son started at ATA Martial Arts in Bel Air, MD about six months ago. My parents, who are elderly, live with me and my family. So, we had been very cautious over the past two years due to the COVID pandemic. As a result, my son missed out on many opportunities to mix with other kids, which caused him to become overly introverted. I saw him open up and gain so much confidence since starting at ATA. He absolutely loves going to practices and interacting with the instructors and other kids in his class. I can’t emphasize enough how amazing the instructors are there. They are strict, but take the time to work with all of the kids to help them improve their skills. They mix in humor with their instruction and make learning martial arts fun. I highly recommend ATA Martial Arts in Bel Air.
We have been a part of ATA Maryland - Bel Air since January and it has been a great experience for our son! I appreciate how the instructors are patient and positive and our son looks forward to classes each week. He is challenged in different ways which promotes his confidence and he has also made some friends. The staff is amazing and are always available if we have questions or concerns.

My son is having a blast at ATA. He is being physically and mentally trained, and he’s enjoying every minute of it. I love that at the very beginning he was taught and reminded to be respectful of others and to be responsible. Originally we thought he would just be fighting, but it’s been much more than that. Our 5 year old son started at ATA in January without any prior martial arts classes and he loves it! He looks forward to going to every session and apparently talks about it at school all the time. They have a great program for the younger kids to develop their skills in listening, disciplinary, focusing, etc. which prepares them for taking more complicated instruction later on. The membership cost is reasonable and money well spent towards something constructive that we anticipate will see him stick with for a long time.
We started at ATA in Bel Air about 8 months ago and couldn’t be more pleased! My 7-year-old son is not much into team sports, but I knew we needed an outlet for his unending energy. Not only is he working on his fitness twice a week, but his confidence and focus have grown as well! We love all the instructors and each class they are learning something new. We’ve just enrolled our 9-year-old daughter as well, and I know she will have an amazing experience too.
We have been going to ATA Bel Air for over a year now and love it! It has been great seeing our little guy learn new skills and gain confidence. Not only has he incorporated “Ma’am” and “Sir” into his vocabulary he has also learned to set a goal and work towards that goal. They make a big deal about belt promotions and he is so proud of himself with each ceremony. I would definitely recommend this program to other parents!
The instructors do a great job of letting the kids have a lot of fun during practice but also keeping them focused on the task at hand. Our kids love the instructors and have definitely benefited from being enrolled at ATA Bel Air for the past 6 months.
We are so glad we found ATA in Bel Air! They are so great with the kids and keep them moving. We instantly felt at home and knew this would be a long term thing for us. We have both kids enrolled in aftercare, summer camp and weekly lessons. They love it and we couldn’t be happier with the whole program.
We joined the ATA family last summer and couldn’t be more thrilled with our experience. Mrs. Knowles, as well as the rest of the instructors, create an atmosphere of caring and respect for students to learn and thrive (while having fun!). The students are held to high standards and expectations are never compromised. Each belt is truly earned based on their merit and mastered skills, not participation or attendance. Our daughter is not only learning Taekwondo, she is learning important values and lessons that she will carry with her throughout life.
The instructors are kind and enthusiastic. There is really a great group of people working at this facility for the kids. Our son always looks forward to class. It really lifts his spirit to know he has class even when he has a bad day. We have left other programs because we were dissatisfied, but we plan to continue with this program. There is plenty of time to practice and opportunities to perform. I think that prepares the kids for some scary things they have to encounter as they grow. They learn about their strengths and how to overcome their fears.
We love ATA Bel Air! The instructors are all so supportive and kind - we especially love Ms. Pepper, Ms. Knowles, Mr. Powers and Ms. Sinclair! My child has never been confident with anything sporty, and he has found determination and pride in working hard through his time with ATA! I most appreciate that the teachers at ATA Bel Air balance being friendly and keeping pressure low while ALSO insisting on corrections to form and practicing over and over to get it right. Also, they work hard to really make belt promotions special for the kids, including insisting on everyone dressing nicely. It really makes the kids feel important! Thanks ATA Bel Air!
My little one has been active in numerous activities such as dance and swimming and has never seemed interested to pursue it further. However, when we signed her up for ATA she has been constantly asking when is the next class and the next tournament. She enjoys it so much that we even had to redesign our basement so that she can practice her stances and kicks. I am beyond grateful for the amazing staff especially Ms. Knowles and Ms. Pepper. They have been very patient with my daughter and it shows that they really do care for her and all the students. I highly recommend ATA in Belair, you will not be disappointed. They focus on discipline and respect which is something my little one has been constantly showing all around.
When my son started at ATA about 5 months ago I had no idea what we were getting into. Not only have I watched my son gain confidence and self awareness, he is now apart of the ATA family. He looks forward to earning each strip and setting goals. He works hard when he isn’t able to get something right and I watch this perseverance transfer over into his school work every day. He struggled with focus and sitting still but I’ve seen such a big improvement with this and I know ATAs teaching has alot to do with it. Their teachers truly care about the success of their students. We can’t wait to see what he can do next. Watching your child love something that they put their whole body and mind into is the greatest gift a parent can receive.
ATA Bel Air has given my 7 year old son so much confidence. Since joining he has come out of his shell and is more sociable. Plus, he has fun while learning to be respectful and responsible.
Enrolling my son into ATA Martial Arts in Bel Air has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. We have watched his progression over the last 4 months and are so impressed. If you’re looking for a well structured and engaging outlet for your child’s energy, then ATA Marital Arts is the place to be. Instruction focuses on developmental areas like control, teamwork, and fitness, along with five other fundamental martial art skills. We came to ATA because previous activities my 5yo had tried, such as dance and soccer, became boring after the repetition of the same lessons/practices each week. ATA has never been a battle to get her to come to, even after months of involvement, so far. The staff does a great job of meeting the students at their level and keeping things interesting every lesson. While there may be some sticker shock, you will definitely get your money’s worth, and unlike many other local karate programs, belt promotions are included. No extra fees. Now that’s what I call winning.
ATA has taught our daughter so much in 6 months! ATA helps to guide improvement in focus, balance, confidence, LISTENING, respect and accountability. Instructors are excellent role models! We’ve enjoyed our time with the ATA community!
My daughter has truly enjoyed being apart of ATA Martial Arts. I enrolled her to work on her confidence and focus which has improved tremendously. I love all of the instructors, they work very well with the kids and are very patient. We enrolled for the 6 week trial and because my daughter enjoyed it so much and learned so much we decided to enroll for a year and have been happy with that decision thus far!
ATA is a very well established, clean, organized and lead company. It is a little pricey but the instructors are very good with the little kids, and do not give up on teaching them. Some reviewer's may say ATA is strict, but I find it an equal balance for teaching the little ones with respect and discipline. We have had no problems with our 5yo who's been in the program for over a year. They also offer many after school programs/events for the kids. I highly recommend! 🥋
Our son has been attending ATA for several months and it gives him time for fun and fitness each week. He has learned the importance of working towards new goals each week, especially working on things that don’t come easily. He is more disciplined and focused. We love ATA and he can’t wait to learn more skills as he gets bigger.
My son Dante has been attending ATA Bel Air location for 6 months now. He has grown so much since his first class! We enrolled him to work on his confidence and focus. He has learned, through ATA, to never give up. Dante used to say “I can’t do it” and get upset if he wasn’t immediately good at something. His instructors have done a great job at helping him see that practice will get you to where you want to be. He gets so excited to earn his skill stripes and is now more confident in his ability to improve both in martial arts class and at home. We are so happy to have found a martial arts family for Dante.
I enrolled my daughter for confidence and to focus. London had no coordination. Today not only is she confident but she is Focused with such strength. She is motivated to attend classes each week especially if she missed a strip. She will get our family involved to assist her with practice. The staff is Amazingly Helpful and make the youth earn each strip. We Love ATA Belair

My 9 years old son joined back in January 2021 since joining I've definitely seen a big improvement in his confidence. He absolutely loves going. Mrs. Frank and the teachers are all amazing!
I signed my oldest daughter up for ATA in January. She had developed incredible anxiety over the past year and was having trouble focusing on school work. She has gained a lot of confidence and her anxiety has been greatly reduced since starting with ATA. The Franks are encouraging, respectful, and patient. All the instructors are amazing and lead fun lessons every class. I love that we have 2 classes a week! One on one lessons are available and these have been wonderful for helping my daughter improve her forms and to feel more confident when taking her stripes tests. Riley loves going to ATA (normally it’s a fight to get her off the couch! 😬). I’m excited to watch her continue to grow over the next year. Additionally, ATA has Facebook pages and an app for communication..I’ve sent numerous messages with questions on the app and have always received a fast response. ATA has an excellent program that extends well beyond the classes!

My daughter is new to karate, and the introduction is very well designed. The beginner classes are shorter, but they are focused, so that it’s easy for the kids to concentrate on the basic skills. We look forward to continuing with the program.
My son is 6 and loves going to Karate at ATA. He loves the energy that the instructors bring. He has always been polite and well mannered but since starting at ATA he has become even more so. Their expectations are very clear and I appreciate that they uphold them.
ATA Bel Air is the best karate dojo around! They provide a fantastic environment for kids to learn discipline, have fun, and burn off some energy!
I am so thankful we decided to give ATA a shot. Our son was wanting to do something active and with the pandemic alot of options were not available. We decided to give ATA a try and our son absolutely loves it! The instructors and Mrs. Frank are amazing and keep it fun! We were also very thankful that they have a learning camp. I dont know what we would have done if this wasnt an option. Mrs. Leavitt has helped in so many ways. Not only with my son but with all the kids. I enrolled my son at ATA due to reports of him having trouble focusing and listening at school. Six months later, I am getting emails telling me how much better he is doing with his focus and control. He’s also become much more coordinated! The instructors are enthusiastic and it’s clear they love what they’re doing. I have nothing but good things to say about ATA and I’m glad we chose them.
Highly professional and an incredibly fun experience thus far. My daughter is 7 and has been with ATA for 6 months and she loves it. Our previous martial arts program permanently closed due to Covid. After much reluctance to start all over, we were pleased with the way ATA was able to adapt and overcome in this crazy time. My daughter is advancing much quicker than our previous studio because they have a regular schedule for belt promotions. The COVID Learning Camp was also a life saver for this working mom.
My son has been a student at ATA since December 2020, in a short period of time I have witness his confidence and discipline increase. My youngest daughter began taking classes at ATA at the end of last year. She was ridden with anxiety and self doubt. I wanted to find something for her that would boost her confidence and help with her anxiety and putting her in this program has done everything and more. EVERY single instructor/staff member I’ve come in contact with has been extremely professional and courteous. My second youngest daughter began taking classes since early in 2021. She battles with social anxiety, depressive states amongst other things. Once again the instructors and staff at the ATA Bel Air have gone above and beyond to not only train my children but to KNOW and really UNDERSTAND them and their needs. My daughters (ages 7 & 8) have come SO amazingly far since beginning their journey with ATA. Mrs. Frank is an amazing mentor and example for the girls showing them that GIRLS can do anything and everything boys can do. We absolutely adore everyone here and I look forward to many years with ATA and seeing how far my children will go.
After trying every sport under the sun, we enrolled my daughter at ATA to give martial arts a try. She absolutely LOVES it, especially her instructors! We were so impressed we signed our other daughter up as well. I love that they bond over TKD. My daughters love their instructors and Mrs. Frank. They have definitely gained confidence and athleticism. We were very concerned to let them partake in an “indoor” activity during the pandemic but the safety measures ATA has put in place go above and beyond. Definitely recommend!
My daughter has been taking lessons for a couple months now and has moved up a couple belt colors. We have watched as her self confidence has grown along with her focus. In this pandemic situation, structure is something that has been lacking. ATA instructors are focused on providing that structure along with the physical conditioning. The lessons are always different so the kids don't get bored doing the same thing. Facilities are modern and clean and the staff has taken great care in the pandemic to clean and sterilize between sessions. The large space allows for people to spread out and "socially distance" while still feeling like part of a group. Great place that teaches a valuable skill.

We’ve been going to ATA since the summer and my son loves it. During summer camp they do lots of activities including swimming once a week and all the instructors there are super nice and Master Peterson is lovely. I bet it’s even more exciting when not in the middle of a pandemic. We were going to do the after school programme but there never was school so instead we signed up for the learning centre and I’m so glad I did. Mrs Leavitt has helped my son with schooling and he’s becoming really independent and learning and socialising (respecting all the COVID rules in place). Teakwondo is definitely his favourite thing though. Mr Arsenault, Mr Pequeno, Ms Pepper, Mr Miller and Mr Santiago have so much patience and have made this a really fun experience for all of us. Mrs Frank (the owner) is brilliant and funny and has a great team of instructors. She is always there and is involved with the kids herself. It’s money well spent especially when kids need to get some of their energy out. It’s frankly pretty badass to watch and it’s taught my son a lot. They have a good programme that keeps the kids engaged and wanting to do their best. They make the promotions to the next belt level a big deal and my son gets very excited about “levelling up”. No regrets and we hope to stay for a while.

We started our two boys with ATA and have seen them grow and develop so much we have signed the whole family up to include their sister, mom and dad. My 3 children and I are all students of Mr. and Mrs. Frank; we started over 4 years ago for different reasons, and we've all gotten more that we could have dreamed from the program that the Frank's and their team provide. My daughter has been a member of ATA for 3 years now. I can’t say enough about what an amazing program this is and how wonderful the owners and instructors are. Students are not only taught the value of discipline and respect but they individually nurture and encourage each students growth. We can’t sing enough praises about classes here. Our child struggled to find something that he consistently wanted to attend. He LOVES going every week. It’s never a fight. The program for younger children really motivates them and keeps them interested. Our sons confidence and voice has blossomed in the 6 months we have been attending. The way they work the program gives you so much flexibility to make it work with your schedule too. The instructors are all students who have worked their way up which is a huge bonus. It lets my son see how all their hard work has paid off. They are patient and incredibly kind. I highly highly recommend classes here!!
My son has been a member of ATA Maryland for almost five years. He is currently taking class at the Bel Air location and is in the instructor training program. The Franks are vested in their students success on and off the training floor. My son has found his second home and family at ATA.
Great program for all ages! My three children attend and I have seen such a transition in their confidence and academics. They provide a positive yet structured approach when training and it really works! My children are motivated and excited to go to class each day they train. They look forward to earning their next belt and enjoy the challenges set forth by the instructors. The afterschool program has been great for my two younger children. I know they are in a safe and caring environment that also sets expectations for them to complete their homework. I’m so thankful to have found such a great program!

Eh, they are okay. You have potential to grow and the Franks will get you to black belt but other than that its a typical AND highly overpriced McDojo, the owner can't even pass his own black belt 'fit-test' from what I last saw from my sister's kids that are enrolled in it, definitely not enrolling mine though because I've seen how they treat their instructors, no thanks.
Do not sign a contract. This place is all about your money and not your kid. 30 min for 2 days. Teaching are truly basic. Go on your own risk
The owners are extremely disrespectful. How can you teach respect when you cant treat the parents with respect. There was a situation where I was told the wrong information and when I spoke to the owner she basically told me I was a liar even though I was simply explaining to her what I was told and why I was upset over the situation. She did not want to hear me out and as I left I informed them I would be giving them bad reviews in which they blocked me from their social media pages and now are replying to my reviews with a false explanation of what happened. My kids were enjoying the program and we were planning to continue until I was treated with such disrespect. There are plenty of other programs out there I would never support this one due to the owners.
