One of the best places for traditional Japanese martial arts in Maryland
A great dojo where everyone, no matter age or experience, can learn and train in Aikido. Fantastic instructors that are friendly, patient, respectful and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you're looking to learn, train and gain experience in the martial art of Aikido.
You will not find a martial arts facility with higher quality instruction than here. You will not only learn the physical components of the art, but also train your mind to deal with real life scenerios. This is an environment where everyone will treat you with respect no matter your age, and will do whatever they can to help you improve. Aikido is very difficult to learn and will take much time, but if you stick with it, you may find that facing the challenges of learning Aikido will better enable you to face the challenges of other areas of your life.
Our kids trained with Sempei Katy for a few years prior to moving away to CA, where we searched endlessly for a dojo of the same caliber as Aiki Martial Arts Institute. Now, we are back and beyond ecstatic to be training here again. The dojo exudes such a great vibe where kids feel comfortable but also train in a structured setting, really meeting each student where they are, helping each to develop self-control, discipline, and respect.
I really enjoyed taking my son to lessons! Everyone is wonderful to work with and really care about the kids! We look forward to seeing our child grow in the program.
Great place to learn self discipline and Aikido which in my view is the cream of martial arts.
Very friendly environment with professional and knowledgeable instruction. High quality training as well! Great place to learn the art!
Great place to go for traditional Japanese martial arts. The teacher is very skilled and has years of experience.
I came to Aki martial arts because I had always wanted to learn a martial art in my lifetime. I choose this dojo over others in the area for a few reasons the first being that one of my first classes I was working with a gentlemen who was old enough to be my grandfather, I thought please old man I could easily take you. Well after that class and the lesson in humility that gentlemen gave me, I realized that if this man can do this martial art this well at his age then there is something here that I want/need to learn throughout my life. I also choose this art because it is not based on physical attributes which we all know eventually deuterate over time despite our best efforts to maintain them, which is how that man was able to teach me that lesson in humility despite me being at least 50years his younger. I also found that with this martial art was a good fit for me because I had always been a "hot head" acting before thinking but through my years of studying this art under the tutelage of Sensei Goss and the other blackbelts I have learned to control it. This control over my temper has spread to all other aspects of my life so much so that family and friends have commented on the changes they have seen. This has lead to my friends that have children asking me when can they enroll their kids here. ( They do have a children's/ Family class on Wednesday evenings) Aki martial arts has changed my life in so many positive ways from just giving me more confidence, self control, to the friendships that I have made there I can not thank Sensei Goss Sempai Dave, Tom, Dell ( he is the one that gave me that lesson) Bill, Katie, DJ enough. Come stop by and try it for yourself and see if it can help you as much as it has helped me.
