Bel Air BJJ has truly leveled up. What sets this gym apart isn’t just the welcoming atmosphere or top-notch instruction—it’s the structured curriculum and the clear focus on progression. Whether you're brand new to Jiu-Jitsu or have years on the mats, the curriculum gives you a solid path to follow, making it easier to track your growth and really dial in your fundamentals. Lately, there’s been a noticeable push toward competition training, and it’s awesome to see how the coaches are tailoring classes to help athletes prepare for tournaments. The energy is electric, with everyone pushing each other to be sharper, faster, and more technical. But even with the competitive edge, the vibe stays supportive—teammates help each other level up without ego getting in the way. The facility itself is clean and spacious, with plenty of mat room even during busy classes. If you're looking for a place that blends solid fundamentals, a clear learning structure, and a competitive edge—all while being part of a community that feels like family—Bel Air BJJ is the place to train.

This gym is hands down one of the best places to train in Jiu-Jitsu. The community is supportive, and the coaches are experienced, always giving clear instruction. I’ve never had trouble finding good training partners, and the sparring is solid. The atmosphere here is welcoming, making it easy to focus on improving. Whether you're just starting or have years of experience, there’s always something to learn and new ways to challenge yourself. Definitely recommend this gym for anyone looking to level up their Jiu-Jitsu and have fun with a great group of people.

This is a great gym. I regularly train at a different HarCo gym but Belair BJJ has always welcomed me to their open mats. The owner, Nathan, is a super nice guy and they have a very eclectic crew. Men, women, big guys, little guys, hard rounds, flow rounds; you can always find whatever you want.

Having a great time and getting in better shape than I was ever expecting. I was a little intimidated at the prospect of doing BJJ and MMA training. I was already doing CrossFit and wanted to add in something different I am in my early 50's and working on getting into better condition. I was invited by one of the part-time instructors who I know from his regular job. Four months into this and I'm hooked. I'm dropping weight and gaining muscle with great instructors who care. Reasonable size classes where I get enough one-on-one instructor time. I have no illusion of being a champion fighter, and that's fine at this gym. My goals are clear and supported. Sure, its an adjustment if you have never participated in this type of sport but give it a couple weeks. You can always tell a good gym by the turnover of members, this gym has members who have been here for years.

WHERE DO I START??? Professor Pimentel and Coach Nate have created the perfect atmosphere for anyone to learn BJJ/Muay Thai/MMA. The people that attend this gym are humble, phenomenal, respectful and professional. The classes are fun and challenging. Teammates will push you during class! The sense of community here is what has me looking forward to go to the gym as much as I can. They even have kids classes, my son attends this gym and is in the processing of learning. Please, look no further but BEL AIR BJJ! This gym is incredible.

I was always curious about bjj and a friend recommended me this place. I was nervous about coming in for a free trial because I never had experience with contact sporting activities. I ended up enjoying the trial and the following months because I got a sweat on, learned about bjj, and was introduced to a respectful student body. There were some moments where I felt disrespected but that was unfortunately a result of people letting their emotions get to them lol. Overall, my experience was great!

I trained there for 1 1/2 to 2 years and I looked forward to going to every single class. Mr. Sergio is amazing and has a great deal of knowledge, and I’m bummed that we are moving because that means leaving this community.

Professor Pimentel and business owner/coach Nate have created the perfect atmosphere for anyone to learn BJJ/Muay Thai. Classes are fun and challenging. Teammates will push you during class and cheer you on during competition. The sense of community here is what has kept me coming back to this gym, even after moving out to Baltimore. If you are interested in training, please try this place out. If you have any questions, check the schedule for class times and stop by a few minutes before a class starts. Either Nate or Sergio (Pimentel) will be more than happy to answer any questions/concerns. We look forward to training with you!

Professor Sergio, Coach Nate, and the whole team represent what is best about the jiu-jitsu and martial arts community-technical mastery, personal development, and an encouraging environment that fosters growth. Training with them over the past year has been an uplifting, positive experience, and I highly encourage anyone interested to come be a part of class.

My son started MMA three years ago when he was five. He attended a different location that unfortunately closed. However, he was introduced to Professor Sergio and learned from his for several months. After the facility closed, he took a six month hiatus so that he could enjoy being a child for a bit. We found that he (and my husband and I) craved the structure and discipline that is required when learning technique and the methodology behind MMA and BJJ. We were pleased to learn that Professor Sergio was instructing at another location. He works extremely well with the children and he explains things so that even the youngest student can comprehend what is being instructed. You can tell from the first session that this is something he is passionate about: teaching the kids and making sure they enjoy what they are being taught, while also maintaining a balance of structure and discipline. The days are flexible for those that have children in sports by offering classes Monday through Friday. I am beyond pleased with the impact that MMA and BJJ has made with my son. His coordination, confidence, discipline, and overall self worth has improved since he began with classes. I strongly encourage parents to enroll their child. It may take a while to adjust to the change, but it's well worth it. Martial arts has helped my son mentally and athletically. I cannot encourage it enough.

After reopening, I opted to freeze my account for 6 months and made it VERY clear I was not comfortable coming back until everyone was vaccinated and we can talk about it in 6 months. 6 months later, without talking to me to make sure I'm ok with it and we're in a safe, comfortable financial situation and not laid off, they charged me as if it were nothing. In the middle of an unprecedented pandemic, their FIRST THOUGHT, was to squeeze as much money from customers as possible. This is despicable, thuggish behavior and I am EMBARRASSED to have been associated with people of such low character. I am gladly taking my business elsewhere, to where people are actually cared about. Citing a "contract" for an 8 and 10yo in a serious context is depraved at best. You, as the customer, are nothing but a paycheck to them, as their actions clearly indicate. Add on in light on your response: You are correct in my finances aren't your responsibility, but it doesn't not negate the fact that you did not check on someone beforehand during a crisis, but also when they said they did not feel safe in light of the virus, as we had discussed. We could debate that point, but when it came down to me reaching out to remind you and asking for a rightful refund, you refused. So you care more for money than for customers feeling safe. Your second "point" is an utter lie meant to turn the narrative against me. I WILLFULLY and knowingly paid full membership price while you were shut down and attended virtual classes because I believed on Sergio and wanted to support him during troubling times. I attended 1 class after you reopened, and THEN I froze my account. I attended ZERO classes of any sort after the freeze, so do not try to frame the fool when you clearly misrepresent the spirit of the art. You gave me nothing and helped my family none, but took freely. You do not practice what you preach and do not carry a righteous spirit off the mat, as well as on. I initially felt bad about a poor review but now I do not. Thank you for clearing my conscious. You are good at bjj but awful at business and having a true warrior spirit. Shameful.
