I visited Artista while on vacation and can't wait to come back. The facility was absolutely beautiful. Huge mat spaces and big clean locker rooms and showers. I had a lot of fun and some great rolls in Coach Kevin's class. They have a bunch of classes at all different times. Highly recommend!!

I visited Artista BJJ while in Nashville for the weekend and had a fantastic experience! I joined the nogi class and stayed for some rolling afterward. From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The instructor was knowledgeable, professional, and clearly dedicated to helping students improve their skills. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive, with everyone open to rolling and giving tips. My daughter has been going to Artista for the past 3 years. We LOVE Artista. A special shout out to Coach Kevin. He is an amazing kids coach. He pushes them, but it’s because he exudes confidence in them. He genuinely cares what they have to say. He is so encouraging and knowledgeable. He’s patient, but does not tolerate anything other than discipline and mutual respect. A class with Coach Kevin is fun, educational, motivational, and inspiring. We are so fortunate to have him as an intrinsic role model in our daughter’s formative years. My daughter has developed such great self-confidence and discipline; we owe a lot of that to Artista, to Coach Kevin, to Professor Felix, Val, and to the other coaches. Thank you!

Dropped into their Saturday open mat, as an out of towner. Immediately one of the regular students greeted me and pointed me in the direction of an instructor to get paperwork/ waiver taken care of. The facility was spotless, tons of accommodation with showers, full locker rooms for both men and women. Jim lead the class, he kept it moving at a good pace but allowed time to work through the techniques/ warmup before open sparring. Through warm ups and sparring the students were very welcoming and approached me to roll. I didn’t ever feel like I was left out or couldn’t train with someone. Lastly the facility is beautiful. Attention to detail is clearly a massive focus. Thank you to everyone who made my experience so good. Can’t wait to come back.

This is the best studio/gym I've ever been to. Starting BJJ has been the best decision I've made in Nashville, solely because of this gym and the culture in it. If you are in the Nashville area and are interested in training bjj and don't know where to go you need to get to Artista and start training. I did a drop-in class while visiting Nashville for a work conference and it was an incredible experience. I've only trained bjj for a few months and everyone there was super helpful in giving advice and answering questions/showing techniques. Bernard is an amazing coach and all the students I rolled with were nothing short of professional, welcoming and educational. I’ve sent all my kids to this place at one point or another and they all love it. The coaches are amazing with kids and my oldest (the only child who is able to go to the classes still, because the other two are doing other sports) looks forward to every class. My 14 year old Son and I have been training with Artista since October of 2019. Although we are novices, the entire Artista community has been very welcoming and encouraging to us in helping us to improve. Professor Felix and his coaches all do a wonderful job of providing sound, realistic training in an environment that promotes both mutual respect in a classic martial arts sense, while still giving students the ability to experiment with what works for them and their particular abilities. I'm a recreational activity enthusiast and am not a juijitsu or martial arts expert, so my review comes from that place of experience. I have had 7 months to form this opinion as I attended my first class in the middle of March 2019. I've had a very positive experience with Artista in all the ways that matter to me. The community is vibrant, welcoming and friendly. All the coaching/instruction staff I have met are also very welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. It's one thing to be good at something, and it's another to be good at teaching it to someone else, or many other people at once and my experience with the instruction staff has been such that they are not only skilled, but skilled at listening, communicating and instructing. Interacting with administrative staff has also been extremely smooth and straight forward, and the facility remains clean (important!) and is aesthetically pleasing (to me… you can decide that for yourself).

Joined Artista with my 13-year old son a few months ago as we have both been fans of mixed martial arts for a while. Could not believe how easily people were submitting me my first few weeks. Has been very humbling but everyone there shows good sportsmanship - it’s never about beating someone, just about learning and getting better. Professor Felix and coach Kevin do a great job teaching techniques. Everything is gone over in fine detail. Every session makes you focus mentally and physically. The gym is very clean and there is good comradery among the students. There are a lot of high-level students here but also a lot of newbies and intermediate students. It is amazing how much you can learn in a short amount of time but also very humbling to realize how much there is yet to learn. Highly recommend Artista!

Signed-up my “lowest key” son (8 yrs) for lessons. He loves it! He is learning to be a little less shy. Love that lessons are co-ed too. The instructors teach fundamentals and add games for the kids at the end. All the kids love it! Great exercise, great instructors, clean facility. First off, I know very little about BJJ so i can’t speak to how much the coaches know. I have 2 children training here and am very pleased with the coaches. They are very patient with the kids but still challenge them to get better. The coaches do an awesome job getting to know the kids. I've moved a lot and trained at many different gyms and this is my favorite! Felix is super technical and an excellent teacher. This gym is lucky to have several instructors who are all awesome--Bernard who teaches nogi is also a fantastic teacher. If you're knew to BJJ Jordan teaches the fundamentals classes and does a great job of breaking concepts down for beginners. Mostly the community at this gym is great. It's a second family. It doesn't matter if your goal is to compete and win medals, or if you're jumping into BJJ later in life and are trying to stay active while appreciating the Art, Felix will give you equal attention regardless of personal goals. All the members I have met are competitive, but supportive. If you ever have questions, someone is always happy to help. No one is there to mindlessly smash their opponents, they take the team mindset seriously. Felix also has some incredible connections. He recently held a seminar with World Champions Gui Mendes and Tainan Dalpra, and in a few weeks, Liam Moss, another World Champion, will be a guest instructor. This is a top-tier academy.

I grew up in martial arts and trained in western boxing as an adult. When looking at something that my son and I could share, I looked at Artista. The culture there is everything! Not only has it been great for my son, but it has challenged me also. Jiu-Jitsu in my opinion, teaches self-management and emotional regulation better than anything I have ever experienced. Coach Felix and his team are excellent examples of that and do a great job mentoring and modeling for the kids as well as adults.

I was visiting from Chicago and stopped by for a drop-in, no-gi class and I can’t speak more highly of this place. Everyone (from the students to instructors) were super friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and well-kept. If you’re looking for a gym to start going to or just to take advantage of a trail class I highly recommend this place.

Just moved from Oregon to Nashville and Artista is by far my favorite place here. Everyone is super sweet and very welcoming. I'm fortunate to have met the coaches here and have the opportunity to learn from them. While traveling through Nashville on business, I took the opportunity to drop in on a Fundamentals class at Artista. Coach Felix and the entire dojo were very welcoming and rolled at an impressively high skill level. If I lived in Nashville, I would roll with Artista.

I have two sons, 8 and 10, and wanted somewhere that would teach the fundamentals of jiu jitsu to teach coordination, respect, etc. We tried a few different places and this one was by far the best. Coach Felix and Kevin are both great with the kids. They run a very disciplined class and teach complex movements in a very learnable way. I highly recommend this place.

I want to say thank you to Gracie Barra Nashville . I travel a lot and don't get to train as often as I'd like but try to get mat time in when I can . I was in town for 3 days and saw the sign driving by . I decided to stop by after dinner and see what's up . I spoke it's Felix and he was very nice and gave me all the info . I am from a different club so there was a drop in fee but it was very fair . The place was very clean and a good amount of space . It didn't smell bad at all . Just the very fair dojo smell but almost non existent . Bathrooms also were very clean. I always notice cleanliness because I am a bit germaphobic . The instruction was great . I made to the fundamentals class at the end of the day and Insteuctor Dan did a great job . The techniques were obviously fundamentals lol but very well explained and even picked up a couple new details . I rolled with a couple of the students and I had the pleasure of rolling with Insteuctor Dan . He is very good with his technique and gave me some really good tips to add to my game . Overall I had a great experience at GB Nashvilled . Everyone that I met at the school was very nice also . I didn't really get any ego vibes from anyone and it was a very pleasant time . If your looking for a place to learn BJJ or are just interested in trying it ouT I highly recommend this place . Very friendly and their techniques are legit ! Joining Gracie Barra was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Since joining I've lost a bunch of weight, gained confidence, and reduced my stress.
