This review is for a self-defense workshop held on Dec 8:
Chris is an amazing instructor. We spent half the class going over legalities surrounding self defense, then the other half involved the physical aspect. Chris has extensive martial arts experience but emphasized that this workshop was its own entity. He answered all questions, explained the how and why of every move, and kept everyone engaged. I’d highly recommend checking this place out to anyone for any future workshop and possibly the martial arts classes!
I attended a fantastic self-defense class here with Chris Flodstrom. I love that he takes into account that you need to practice any movements that you want to be able to do in a stressful situation, very intuitive and helpful. I feel much more prepared now.
Action Martial Arts offers the best program, very flexible, professional and kids friendly. My kids have been going here since 2021.Master Chris and Christian are best in their jobs. We loved all the members so much. They also have 1 week buddy week and trial programs which are the best to know how good the program and coaches are. All the best for future success.
I’ve been around TKD for much of my life. I’ve seen many schools over the years that had good qualities and things upon which they could improve. I can tell you that Action has many great qualities and am hard-pressed to find any faults. The staff is great. The masters, coaches and instructors are knowledgeable, fun, tough, personable, fair, and approachable. They push the students who want to be pushed. They realize each student’s abilities and challenges and work with them.
I genuinely love this school and am grateful for what it does for and means to the Mundelein community.
This is an amazing place. It feels more like community where everyone is included. My kiddo looks forward to every class where he not only learns martial arts skills, but leadership skills. Thanks for all you do.
This is an awesome studio. They have lessons, after school programs, summer camp and more. Also they were very accommodating for summer drop in camp for 3 kiddos at a moments notice. We will be back. Highly recommend!
We started with master Chris from the day he opened the doors. Motivation is very inspiring, kids love the place, training is great. We are still with master Chris and will be with him till the fight is over!
My 3-4 year old daughter has been attending Taekwondo for Little Dragons for about 4 months now and it is amazing how engaged she is. The culture here is all about the kids first and to help them succeed in demonstrating their skills they are learning from listening to kicking. I would highly recommend Action for anyone looking for a studio who puts kids first.
We just started our daughter here and have had the best experience! They are amazing with the kids. My daughter’s confidence has flourished and she has so much fun at her classes. We just had her 5th birthday party here and I feel it was so good we can never have another because we will never top this one! We are so grateful for Chris, Christian and Janet! Highly recommend!
We attended a birthday party here and it was such a wonderful experience! The instructors were awesome! They were great with the kids. My daughter had a great time and I truly wish the facility was closer to me so we could attend weekly.
My daughter started a few weeks ago and loves it so much! She looks forward to going each and every week. The Masters/Coaches couldn’t be more patient with all the children. They do such a wonderful job of keeping ALL the kids engaged.
I know nothing about martial arts, but I can say for certain the teachers bring lots of energy to the lessons and they are remarkable with children.
My child just started so I cannot comment on the instruction, however after a couple classes it seems just fine to me.
I recommend you give this place a look if your in the market for martial art instruction.
All Masters, Instructors and staff are so understanding, patient and motivating for kids of all abilities and individual needs. We are so happy to see our son challenged while having fun and learning new skills including improved attention and focus. Love it here!
Both kids and adult jiu jitsu and tae kwon do programs are top notch! There are classes for the whole family. Keeps my 2 daughters, wife and me busy all week.
Great instructors and excellent facility. We did a birthday party there and couldn't be happier with how it turned out I can't say enough positive things about this school.

Great bunch of guys, very detailed instructions for all levels. Quite diverse styles are taught here, spacious and inviting, very nice addition to Mundelein, VH, Libertyville martial arts scena.
My daughter has been attending taekwondo for about a year and she loves it. Master Mike and Master Chris are great and so instrumental in her development. My husband recently joined their jujitsu program and really enjoying the challenge. I also have taken a couple of fitness classes and plan to join as we love this facility and all the teachers.
Amazing Martial Art Class!!!! Masters have incredible level of patience and love towards my 5-year-old, who is extremely shy and introvert. I see my little one's changes in the course of learning martial art with Keumgang, and seeing him getting yellow belt, tears are running over my face. Something that is easy for other moms is really hard for me. Thanks to Keumgang, I see my baby's potential and my gratefulness for Keumgang is beyond my words.
I strongly recommend Keumgang Martial Arts Academy. They are not a typical "belt school", Master Mike and Master Chris are dedicated not only to their instruction of Taekwondo but also to each student. Their instructions go beyond the school and is reflected in the students home and school everyday life.
Master Chris and Master Mike of Mundelein's Keumgang Martial Arts Academy are among the finest teachers I've met, and I've met plenty. They are both highly skilled practitioners of their art, amazing to observe in demonstration. More significantly, they are both exceptional in their approach to small children and teenagers, patient beyond belief, teaching at the level of each child. I cannot comprehend a martial arts school equal to or better than this one -- in Mundelein, Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Chicago, anywhere.
I strongly recommend Keumgang Martial Arts Academy (KMAA), NOT associated with the prior martial arts that was in this same location. This is a great institution (about 9 months old) they are outstanding with the children and parents. My sons love this school, and I love what the school offers to them. Their way of teaching, captures both of my boy's attention in a way I've never seen other instructors do. They also help my boys get involved in the community, which shows them great caring skills for others. They're the best martial arts academy in Mundelein, hands down!
P.S. If you're looking to do a birthday party….They also did my boy's birthday party at the facility, and kids are still talking about it 2 months later! Everyone had a fantastic time. The guys went above and beyond! Real people that feel like family. Love them!
