About the Clinic
Strengthening Technique, Empowering Women Part II is the second women's and girl's judo clinic led by Sayaka Torra and hosted by CCSF Judo Club. We will build off of what was taught at the first clinic, but attendance to the first clinic is not necessary! This clinic will offer a fun and unique experience for women and girls 13 and up to improve their judo skills, while working out with and getting to know other female judokas. Please join us on the mat on 12/13/25 from 9:30 to 12:30 at CCSF Judo Club. You'll also get a free t-shirt!
About Sayaka Sensei
Sayaka Torra Sensei began studying judo at the young age of 5 and is currently a sixth degree black belt. She is a 7-time Senior National Champion, represented the United States at 3 World Championships (2001, 2003, 2005), and was a member of the 2008 Olympic Team in Beijing. Sayaka Sensei also won a silver medal at the 2000 Junior World Championships in Tunis, Tunisia. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in Mass Communications and a minor in Japanese. Since retiring from competitive judo, Sayaka Sensei now leads the competitor’s classes at the East Bay Judo Institute and works as a business operations manager for Humintell, a psychology-based company out of El Cerrito, CA. She, her husband, and son live in the east bay with their two cats, and multiple beehives.
Sayaka Sensei is a Rokudan and is currently a Senior Instructor at East Bay Judo Institute (EBJI).
Eligibility
- Women and girls over 13 years of age.
- Active USJF/USJA/USA Judo membership is required.
- If you do not have a membership, you may obtain a short-term USJF membership for $9.99 at https://www.usjf.com/subscription/
