Santa's Tap Out Classic

Saturday, December 5, 2026 | North Idaho College | Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Built for athletes, coaches, families, and fans, the tournament will feature fast-moving matches, adult Open Championships, team recognition, free seminars, vendors, and free photos with Jiu-Jitsu Santa for athletes and spectators.

Tournament Format

  • No-gi competition
  • Kids, teens, adults
  • Four-minute matches
  • Three competition mats
  • Kids and teens compete first
  • Adult regular weight divisions follow
  • Adult Open Championships conclude the event
  • Minimum of two matches for athletes in divisions containing at least two eligible competitors
  • Dedicated warm-up area
  • Maximum event capacity of 300 athletes

Registration Pricing

  • Early Registration: $80
  • Regular Registration: $100
  • Late Registration: $125
  • Adult Open Championship Add-On: $35

Registration may close before the published deadline if the event reaches operational capacity.

Adult Open Championships

Athletes must register for and compete in a regular adult weight division before entering an Open Championship. The athlete's official regular-division weigh-in will determine Open Championship eligibility.

Men's Championships

  • Men's Lightweight Open Championship - 175 lb and under
  • Men's Heavyweight Open Championship - 176 lb and above, no maximum weight

Women's Championships

  • Women's Lightweight Open Championship - 145 lb and under
  • Women's Heavyweight Open Championship - 146 lb and above, no maximum weight

Open Championships are optional and cost an additional $35. Entry caps and experience groupings may be adjusted based on registration numbers and the tournament schedule.

Brackets and Schedule

Brackets and estimated match times will be released through Smoothcomp at least 24 hours before the tournament begins.

Athletes are responsible for reviewing their:

  • Division placement
  • Academy affiliation
  • Weight class
  • Bracket
  • Mat assignment
  • Estimated match time

Athletes should continue monitoring Smoothcomp because match times may move as the tournament progresses.

Weigh-Ins

Weigh-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. for divisions scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.

All other athletes must make weight no later than 30 minutes before their scheduled bracket time.

  • This is a no-gi weigh-in.
  • Athletes receive a one-pound allowance for clothing.
  • The athlete's official weight will also determine eligibility for the Adult Open Championships.
  • Athletes who miss weight may be moved or disqualified according to tournament policy.
  • Athletes should arrive early enough to check in, weigh in, and warm up without delaying their bracket.

Partnered-Gym Coach Passes

Complimentary coach passes are available only to approved Tap Syndicate Promotions partner academies.

Coach passes are based on the number of athletes registered under the academy's correct Smoothcomp name:

  • Passes are not transferable.
  • Only credentialed coaches may enter designated coaching and competition-floor areas.
  • Coaches must follow tournament conduct rules.
  • Floor access may be revoked for inappropriate or disruptive conduct.

Spectator Admission

Spectator admission is $15 at the door.

  • Cash and cards will be accepted.
  • Children must remain supervised.
  • Spectators may watch from the downstairs gym or the elevated upstairs track.
  • Free photos with Jiu-Jitsu Santa will be available for athletes and spectators.

Locker Rooms and Personal Property

Men's and women's locker rooms will be available.

ATHLETES SHOULD BRING THEIR OWN PADLOCK IF THEY PLAN TO USE A LOCKER.

Do not leave wallets, phones, jewelry, equipment, or other valuables unsecured.

Spectator Seating

A limited number of chairs will be available downstairs near the competition area.

UPSTAIRS TRACK SEATING IS BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR. SPECTATORS WHO WANT TO SIT AROUND THE TRACK MUST BRING A CAMPING CHAIR.

Chairs and personal belongings must remain clear of:

  • Walking lanes
  • Railings
  • Stairways
  • Elevator access
  • ADA routes
  • Emergency exits

Spectators may stand along the railing where space permits.

Free Seminars

Free BJJ seminars will be offered throughout the tournament and led by coaches from participating academies.

The warm-up area will temporarily close during scheduled seminar blocks. Instructor names and seminar times will be announced before the event.

Facility Rules

  • No weapons
  • No alcohol
  • No outside food
  • No outside beverages
  • Personal water bottles with secure lids are allowed
  • No glass containers
  • No smoking or vaping inside the facility
  • Children must remain supervised
  • Do not block exits, walkways, stairs, elevators, railings, or ADA routes
  • Respect North Idaho College property, staff, security, athletes, coaches, volunteers, and guests
