Description

Kick off 2027 on the mats! NEWBREED returns to the Cabarrus Event Center on Saturday, January 16, 2027, for the Charlotte New Year Open.

Competitors of all ages and skill levels are welcome, with both gi and nogi divisions. Whether you’re entering your first tournament or looking for your next challenge, there’s a place for you to compete.

The top three athletes in each division will receive custom medals. First-place winners in advanced divisions will also take home the NJJF Championship Belt.

Ready to take on the region’s best? Enter the nogi absolute division and compete for the title of Absolute Champion, regardless of weight class. This event is a qualifier for The Ultimate Grappler, and the nogi absolute winner will secure a spot at The Ultimate Grappler Finale.

Team points will determine the top three youth teams, the top three adult teams, and the overall team champion. All seven teams will receive award banners for their academies, and the first-place teams will also take home custom NJJF trophies.
