Manitoba’s longest running and largest bi-annual Submission Grappling Tournament.
The Manitoba Open is held twice a year to provide an organized, high quality tournament for all regional competitors to gain key competition experience and to test their skills. Our tournament has been developed to follow the same framework as many of the highest recognized international events.
We welcome and invite all academies to participate in our annual tournament.

WEIGH INS
Competitors will weigh must weight in when they arrive at the venue, before their first match. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make weight, they will be immediately disqualified. (no weight allowance)
Adults can weigh-in with in GI or NOGI attire.
Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions , if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.
Competitors 13 and younger will have a 1lb weight allowance.
Kids and Teens will weigh in WITH the GI (if they are doing GI division)

What time do doors open?
Doors open 45mins prior to the 9:00AM start time.
Is pre-registration required?
Yes. This is a pre registration tournament only, and changes to registration can be made up until Wednesday Nov 4th, 2026.
Do athletes need to be licensed to compete?
Yes. The MCSC will not allow any unlicensed athletes to compete. Athletes must be licensed by Wednesday Nov 4th 5pm.
How much are spectator tickets?
Spectators are $10. Kids under 10 are free.
When are brackets posted?
Brackets are posted 2 days in advance.
How do weigh-ins work?
Competitors must weigh in when they arrive at the venue, before their first match. There is only one opportunity to check weight, and competitors who do not make weight are immediately disqualified with no weight allowance, except competitors 13 and younger have a 1lb weight allowance.
What should competitors wear for weigh-ins?
Adults can weigh in with GI or NOGI attire. Kids and teens will weigh in with the GI if they are doing a GI division.
Can competitors change divisions on tournament day?
No. No changes will be accepted on tournament day, and there is no refund if a competitor does not make their designated division.
What is the competition format?
The tournament uses double elimination and is a one-day event with limited capacity.
