Kids Jiu-Jitsu League Nationals
(1st Edition) - NZBJJF
Welcome to the Kids Jiu-Jitsu League Nationals — NZBJJF’s new national youth championship. This event is dedicated exclusively to young athletes across New Zealand and has been granted a special 5 - STAR National Ranking in recognition of its importance to junior development.

NZBJJF Membership (Required)

Age Divisions (IBJJF Method)
NZBJJF applies the IBJJF year-of-birth method (age as at 31-12-2026).Example: A competitor born on 12-09-2013 competes in the 13-year-old age group.IBJJF Rules: https://ibjjf.com/rules
Rules (IBJJF) & Weight Selection
- The event follows IBJJF rules in both Gi and No-Gi.
- Weights are shown as net body weight, with the uniform allowance in brackets.Example: 79 kg (82.3 kg) Gi = under 79.0 kg net and under 82.3 kg in full Gi at weigh-in.
Checking Day
The day after entries close is Checking Day.
- Please verify on Smoothcomp that your weight, belt, academy, age division, and name are correct and that you have opponents.
- On Checking Day you may edit your entry or request a refund by cancelling in Smoothcomp.
- After Checking Day, entries are non-refundable.
Refund Policy
- Until the last day of registration: 90% refund (via Smoothcomp).
- During Checking Day: Partial refund may be available.
- After Checking Day / once brackets are live: No refunds.
Discounts
- Early-bird discount during the designated early-bird period.
- Gi + No-Gi bundle: Special discount when registering for both disciplines.
Important Notice
To avoid disappointment on the day:
- Any child or juvenile athlete who weighs over their registered weight division at official weigh-in will be disqualified immediately.
- There will be no division changes for children or juveniles on the day or after brackets go live, and no refundswill be given at that stage.

- Weigh-in & Check-in: From 8:30 AM
- First Matches: 9:30 AM
- Format: Full-day competition with Gi & No-Gi (all eligible belts).
- Youth Schedule: Kids and Juveniles compete across the day.
