KIDS JIU-JITSU LEAGUE NATIONALS 2026

INAUGURAL EDITION | NEW ZEALAND BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU FEDERATION

The New Zealand Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (NZBJJF) is proud to present the inaugural Kids Jiu-Jitsu League Nationals, taking place in Auckland on 11 October 2026.

The KJJL Nationals is a national-level championship dedicated to the development of Kids, Teen and Juvenile Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes in New Zealand.

Athletes and academies from throughout the country are invited to compete for National Championship titles and valuable points toward the NZBJJF National Ranking.

This event has been designated a 6-Star National Ranking Championship, reflecting its position within the NZBJJF competition calendar.

Check-In & Weigh-In: From 7:30 AM
First Matches: 8:30 AM
Competition: Gi & No-Gi
Eligibility: Kids, Teen and Juvenile athletes
Classification: 6-Star National Championship
Maximum Capacity: 600 competitors

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISIONS

Official KJJL National Championship titles will be awarded in the following categories:

• Junior Male – Gi
• Junior Female – Gi
• Juvenile Male – Gi
• Juvenile Female – Gi
• Juvenile Male – No-Gi
• Juvenile Female – No-Gi

Athletes must meet all applicable age, belt, weight and membership requirements to participate.

NZBJJF NATIONAL RANKING POINTS

As a 6-Star National Championship, the KJJL Nationals carries enhanced ranking value toward the NZBJJF National Athlete Ranking.

Points will be awarded according to final placement:

Ranking points are credited in accordance with NZBJJF ranking regulations and the official results of the championship.

NZBJJF MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT

All competitors must hold a valid NZBJJF Membership at the time of competition.

Athletes without a valid membership may not be eligible to compete in NZBJJF-sanctioned events.

AGE DIVISIONS

NZBJJF follows the IBJJF Year-of-Birth System for determining competition age.

An athlete's competition age is determined by the age they turn during the calendar year ending 31 December 2026, regardless of their age on the actual competition date.

Example:An athlete born on 12 September 2013 competes in the 13-Year-Old Division during the 2026 competition season.

Athletes, parents and coaches are responsible for ensuring that registration information is accurate.

RULES & WEIGHT DIVISIONS

The championship will operate under IBJJF competition rules, together with any applicable NZBJJF event regulations.

This applies to both Gi and No-Gi divisions.

Weight categories displayed during registration represent the applicable competition weight limits. Where relevant, Gi allowances will be indicated.

It is the responsibility of the athlete, parent or coach to confirm the correct:

• Age division
• Belt division
• Weight category
• Academy affiliation
• Gi or No-Gi registration

Please review all registration information carefully before the applicable deadlines.

OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN POLICY

Athletes must make the weight limit of the division in which they are officially registered.

Any Kids, Teen or Juvenile athlete who exceeds the maximum weight permitted for their registered division at the official weigh-in will be disqualified from that division.

No weight division changes will be permitted on competition day or after brackets have been published.

A competitor disqualified for failing to make weight will not be entitled to a refund.

Parents, coaches and athletes are strongly encouraged to check weight well in advance of the championship.

CHECKING DAY

The day immediately following the registration deadline will be designated as the official Checking Day.

All competitors, parents and coaches are responsible for reviewing the athlete's registration during this period.

Please verify:

• Athlete's full name
• Academy affiliation
• Age division
• Belt rank
• Weight division
• Gi / No-Gi registration
• Opponent availability

Any permitted corrections, registration changes or eligible refund requests must be submitted within the designated period.

Once Checking Day has concluded and brackets have been prepared or published, registrations are considered final.

REFUND POLICY

Refund eligibility is determined according to the stage of registration:

Before Registration ClosesEligible withdrawals may receive a 100% refund when processed correctly through Smoothcomp.

Checking DayEligible withdrawals may qualify for a partial refund in accordance with the event's published refund conditions.

After Checking Day / Brackets PublishedNo refunds will be issued.

Failure to attend the event or failure to make the registered weight does not automatically create eligibility for a refund.

REGISTRATION DISCOUNTS

The championship may offer:

• Early Bird Registration during the advertised Early Bird period.
• Gi + No-Gi Bundle Registration for eligible athletes entering both divisions.

Applicable prices and registration periods will be displayed on the official Smoothcomp event page.

SPECTATOR ENTRY

Spectator admission will apply as follows:

Active NZBJJF and IBJJF Black Belts, as well as officially registered event coaches, receive complimentary admission subject to event accreditation requirements.

Spectator admission is separate from competitor registration.

LIMITED CAPACITY: 600 ATHLETES

Registration for the inaugural KJJL Nationals is strictly limited to 600 competitors.

Registration may close automatically once maximum capacity has been reached, even if this occurs before the published registration deadline.

Athletes and academies wishing to participate are therefore encouraged to complete registration early.

Registration is not guaranteed until successfully completed through the official event registration system.
