Such a wonderful place to train. In my couple months of being here, I am in love. The coaches are very skilled with each brining their own style of expertise to the mat. As a father of five, I could not have asked for a more family oriented gym to train at. The loving coaches and people make it a great place to bring your family. I will always chose Great Lakes BJJ over any gym, I definitely would recommend to anyone at any level!

10/10 I absolutely love everything about this gym. The instructors are kind, informative, and very welcoming. I never felt out of place or like I don’t belong even though I am very very new to the sport. My favorite classes are combat conditioning, beginners kickboxing, and beginners jiu jitsu. I also love that this gym has very affordable all inclusive pricing. Also, they're very accommodating for parents with small children. I’ve been going here for about 3 months and I highly recommend!

I wanted to try out Jiu Jitsu for years but never made the time to try it because of work and raising kids. I finally gave it a try after being invited out to the school by Kelly and Adam. I am hooked! It’s great community of people from all walks of life that genuinely care about the art of Jiu Jitsu and want you to learn it and practice it with them. The coaches are patient and want you to understand the moves and how to counter the attack. To be honest it’s been quite the journey so far. It’s certainly eye opening learning things physically and mentally in Jiu Jitsu and applying the ideas in my everyday life. There ability to teach kids is hands down the best I’ve seen in martial arts. The one -on- one interactions with kids and getting to them work together and practice is amazing! Two of my kids come here as well and love the art itself, and the community. It’s truly been a great experience learning Jiu Jitsu and Great Lakes with my kids!

Our experience with this gym has been nothing short of spectacular. All of the coaches are EXTREMELY knowledgeable, respectful, helpful and welcoming. Instructors Adam and Bryam have done a phenomenal job teaching our son BJJ. They are great with kids and their patience is unparalleled. They offer kickboxing, beginners BJJ, regular BJJ, and other classes. Elijah is also a fantastic striking instructor for kids and adults. Not only are the instructors great, but the community of members at this gym is also amazing. Everyone helps each other and is super welcoming. I am so appreciative of these guys and the gym. They never require any upfront commitments. Unlike other gyms, they care more about the members than turning a profit. If you give this place a shot, you won’t regret it.

If you are looking for an awesome place to learn Jiu Jitsu, look no further! Kelly is wonderful with my daughter, carefully explaining moves. As a matter of fact, so is Adam and all the other instructors there, each one is great at helping! Additionally, my daughter is enjoying the kick boxing as well. Super friendly and family oriented, you just can't choose a better place to learn and practice!

Great gym and great atmosphere. The coaches are highly skilled and very knowledgeable. Not everyone who’s good at Jiu Jitsu is good at teaching, these coaches are skilled in both areas. The coaches and members are friendly and welcoming to anybody of any skill level. Aside from Jiu Jitsu they offer striking classes and provide a weight room for resistance and cardiovascular training. I’d also like to highlight that they take pride in conducting the best kids classes which requires a totally different coaching strategy. This is a great gym for anyone looking to start Jiu Jitsu or continue honing their skills as a black belt and everything in between. I can’t say enough good things about this gym, stop in and see for yourself.

Great Lakes BJJ stands out for its excellent instruction and strong sense of community. The coaches are highly skilled and focused on fostering improvement across all levels. The environment is welcoming, with members who are respectful and committed to training safely and effectively. Although it's over a 30-minute drive from my home, the quality of instruction and the positive atmosphere make the commute worthwhile. For anyone seeking a well-run gym with knowledgeable instructors and a supportive community, I highly recommend Great Lakes!

My daughter took jujitsu lessons at GLBJJ for about 2 and a half years when they first opened. It was the best thing we could have done for her. Her confidence soared and she was so proud of all her accomplishments. The staff are absolutely amazing! Could not recommend more!

I have trained at many different BJJ academies since the late 90s and Great Lakes is one of the best. The owner is a highly skilled and technical black belt, while also remaining humble and kind. They have tons of mat space and a gym with more mat space on the lower level. Also different high level black belts from different academies teach there on a regular basis so the diversity of techniques and ideas is outstanding. If you want the best academy at a good price this is your place.

I highly recommend my jiujitsu gym for anyone looking to train in a professional, safety-focused environment. Kelley and Adam are exceptional instructors who demonstrate great expertise, dedication, and care for their students' development. It’s a privilege to be part of such a well-run and supportive training community. I have enjoyed it for the past two years and looking forward for more.

Family friendly gym, love taking classes here. My son loves the mixed martial arts class as well as Jiu-Jitsu. My husband and myself both enjoy No-Gi and BJJ. The gym downstairs is phenomenal too to lift and get a sweat in before your class starts! I'd recommend to all! **** There's also a playroom for the kids to play in while the adults take their class! ***

The gym is definitely one of a kind. The staff works over time to make sure that every student has an opportunity to learn at their own pace as well as learning a style that fits them. The gym accomplishes this by bringing a variety of high level coaches from all over using different styles very frequently, as well as being extremely active themselves in both training and coaching. When you walk into the doors both the coaches and the students do an amazing job of making you feel welcome, and it is very clear that everyone’s ego is left at the door. For those who are not quite ready to be surrounded by environments or situations that may make them feel uncomfortable. There are both male and female coaches that host various of private classes, group self defense classes, law enforcement classes, and more. I’ve truly never been part of a gym that feels like a family and is so well rounded. If you are not yet training here, I strongly recommend giving it a shot with their free week trial.

I'm glad I chose this place for my 6 year old son to learn BJJ and striking and I easily see him sticking with it for years to come here. Friendly atmosphere, encouraging, attentive coaches, and the gym is nice and well kept up. They give you your best chance at training instead of getting frustrated. My son would get that way a little at first being 5 but overtime less and less and I owe it to the coaches who helped him overcome it. Great Lakes BJJ is truly a superior quality bargain overall that I very highly recommend.

I don't get to go often due to work, but when I do, I'm always greeted with smiles. The environment is welcoming for all skill levels and goals. The instructors are hands on and don't mind answering questions & providing feedback. No one makes you feel like a quitter or like you don't belong if you need to sit out a round or two in order to catch your breath. This school is located 50 minutes from my home. While there are closer schools, I prefer this one because of the better attitudes of the students and instructors. It's great cardio and you will definitely drop some pounds easily.

Kids have been going here an over a year now. Instructors and staff have been amazing. I love the fact that I can work out while the kids are doing their training. This training and style is way better than TKD and TSD fighting styles in the way of being more practical in real fighting situations my kids have done both styles and love this more. You will not find a better place.

GLBJJ has turned out to be such a blessing for our family! ALL of the coaches bring highly technical and unique skills/ experience to the table. Not only have my kids been learning the art but also have gained so much confidence and personal growth. I highly recommend for families wanting to further their education in the art form and gain new friends. 🎉
