This is a great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym with beautiful mats and welcoming ownership in Chris. All the instructors that I've met, from Chris and Dave to everyone else, are friendly and knowledgable and care about teaching. I also love that there are dedicated takedown classes; Dave's Judo / BJJ takedown classes are hugely informative and productive and are a ton of fun. The classes fit my schedule with time before and after work. I highly recommend this place for BJJ and Judo in the Flint and Genesee County area. I also love that the gym is in Flint on Dort Highway; it makes it super easy to get to.

Nicolas is an incredible instructor! The class is always fun, interactive, and something I genuinely look forward to. He creates such a welcoming environment that makes it easy for me to open up and fully engage. I’ve gained so much knowledge in such a short time and can’t wait to see what’s next.

I started training at Combat Base Flint in October, just before leaving for my next job, and I couldn’t have found a better place. Nick’s Muay Thai/kickboxing classes were intense and technical. He’s a beast when it comes to striking and always made sure I was sharpening my skills. David is an absolute wizard with sambo, judo, and takedowns. His ability to break down techniques and make them work for everyone was next level. Chris, the owner, is a BJJ powerhouse who pushed me to improve every roll. I definitely got my butt kicked in grappling more than once, but it only made me better. Their motto, “Be on top, stay on top,” is something I’ll take with me. This place is legit, and the instructors are top-tier. If you’re in Flint, you need to check them out!
