Gracie Combatives® is our beginner program for adults. In this program, you will learn the 36 core techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a fun, safe, and cooperative environment. Each one-hour lesson addresses one standing and one ground self-defense technique. Gracie Bullyproof is our self-defense program for kids ages 3-12.

My two kids have absolutely loved their time at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Alexandria! They come home excited after every class and are asking to go every day! Zac is incredible with kids — he has a natural gift for teaching techniques in a way that’s fun, engaging, and easy to understand. On top of that, he emphasizes kindness, respect, and teamwork, which has made a positive impact on my kids. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to any family looking for a supportive and motivating environment!

My 4-year-old son loves this jiu-jitsu class! The instructor Zac is patient, fun, and really great/ attentive with kids. My son is learning discipline, confidence, and new skills while still having a blast. Highly recommend for any parent looking for a safe and positive activity for their child!

We had such a wonderful experience with Zac. He was extremely patient with my 3yo daughter and made her feel comfortable right away. He explained and demonstrated each move clearly, and his friendly, yet confident approach kept her fully engaged. We first signed up for the free trial class and she loved it so much that she can’t wait to go back for her next class. I also enjoyed learning alongside her. I really appreciate the positive environment Zac created, it made all the difference! I'm excited to see her confidence and skills grow with each class!

My teenage son just finished his first week at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Alexandria and it’s been a fantastic experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the instructors were patient, professional, and made him feel completely at ease. As a parent, I really appreciated the positive and respectful environment. He’s looking forward to continuing—highly recommend!

My 4yo son and I took a the Mat Munchkins class here and it was great. They are very-kid friendly/knowledgeable but also really good at teaching attention and confidence. Moves were demonstrated and then dads & kids practiced them, rounded out by fun group exercises. As a dad, I had a blast working on moves on the mat with my son, including an arm bar on the first day! We were so convinced after one class that we signed up for the monthly program. Really looking forward to learning jiu jitsu and seeing my son grow in confidence and physicality.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Alexandria has been an excellent experience. The senior instructor, Zac, is a wonderful teacher and clearly explains techniques and welcomes questions. He makes everyone feel at ease and is incredibly encouraging. And all of my classmates have been amazingly helpful and kind and make learning even easier. It is a wonderfully positive and fun environment for all to learn Jiu-Jitsu (the Gracie way!), and I would highly recommend it!

The Alexandria BJJ gym is definitely the place to go for learning jiu jitsu. The structured curriculum and positive atmosphere help accelerate learning and provide the enabling conditions for success. As a female student, I feel supported and encouraged while testing my limits and improving my skills. The adult students are great partners and the head instructor, Zac, is super knowledgeable and encouraging. I particularly recommend this class for women who want to learn self defense from a ground position. And it’s also a fantastic workout!

I have studied several martial arts for years with some breaks in time. Taking up a new art is never easy and joining a new dojo/studio can be intimidating. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Alexandria was my first official exposure to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) . BJJ isn't new but, in recent years, has exploded in popularity in the United States. It's moves are unique as it combines Jiu-Jitsu with wrestling. The comedian and podcast host, Joe Rogan, a black belt in BJJ himself, explains the art best as "high level problem solving with dire physical consequences." Despite BJJ's lethality, Gracie BJJ Alexandria offers a professional training experience that focuses first on a brilliance in the basics. Owner and head instructor Coach Zac Olsen takes time to diligently explain the anatomy of every technique, always provides extra instruction when asked, and enforces a safe and responsible training atmosphere. Classes are available for all ages with a wide range of times to accommodate for busy schedules. I couldn't recommend Gracie BJJ Alexandria enough.

Coach Zac has created a place for positivity, encouragement and growth, while learning from time to time how to choke people (in defense, of course). The whole system is well designed and paced, and Coach Zac does an outstanding job of bringing it to the people in this community.

We are so happy to have found Coach Zac and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Alexandria. Our kids love learning the techniques and building friendships with other kids in a positive and enthusiastic environment. Jiu-jitsu has made them better athletes, teammates, and (future) coaches as they help other kids. Hands down - no better place to teach children about self-defense, anti-bullying, and self-control. As a Veteran-owned business, you won't find a more welcoming community for you or your family.

The Alexandria BJJ location has a top-notch martial arts program. It’s a structured, detailed course in groundwork techniques that are applicable for practical situations. I love the positive, constructive atmosphere, particularly from a female perspective, given most martial arts are traditionally male-majority. It gets you out of your comfort zone to learn without intimidation or major discomfort. Everyone is encouraging and the head instructor, Zac, is super knowledgeable and kind, and will work within your limits but also test those limits to help you grow. Most of all, it’s fun, and a great workout!
