An exceptional Jiu Jitsu club with an extraordinary community (review from both an adult and child perspective)
I’m writing this review on behalf of both myself and my six-year-old son, as we now train here together. If you’re browsing reviews to find what matters most to you, please skip to the appropriate section below. What we can both say from the outset, though, is simple: this club is special.
My son’s experience (ages: 4–6)
The children’s classes are exceptional. My son started in the Tiny Champions (4+) group and settled in remarkably quickly, thanks to professors who are patient, warm and brilliantly playful, yet always maintain safety and structure. They know exactly how to keep kids motivated, engaged and learning.
What truly sets this club apart is its atmosphere. Classes are welcoming, inclusive and full of joy. Boys and girls train together as equals, and it’s heartwarming to see older kids naturally helping and encouraging younger ones. It’s rare nowadays to find a space where kids of all ages mix so positively, showing respect, kindness and genuine team spirit.
The instructors strike the ideal balance between discipline and fun. Unlike some clubs that feel overly stern, competitive or money-driven, this place has a genuine family atmosphere while still delivering top-quality coaching. The kids learn far more than technique: co-operation, confidence, resilience, leadership and physical wellbeing without any of it being forced.
My son now trains about 4 hours a week and loves every minute. He’s not naturally competitive, yet still entered his first competition, lost, and immediately asked when he could do another. That says everything: he feels safe, supported and genuinely happy here.
If you’ve ever wondered where that old sense of youth-clubs and belonging went, honestly, it’s alive and well here. As one parent put it, this is more than a club, they’re building a family. It’s a privilege to watch so many young people thrive in such a positive space.
My experience as an adult beginner (ages: knocking on...)
After months of sideline watching and firmly in the “I’m too old/slow/podgy (ok fat) for this!” camp (think Gru from the Minions), I decided to join in and I’m so glad I did. From day one, I’ve found it massively welcoming, judgement free and surprisingly addictive.
Classes are superb: technically rich, structured and accessible whilst still challenging the more experienced. The coaches are knowledgeable, breaking down complex movements into simple, learnable steps, and incredibly supportive, and genuinely committed to helping each person progress at their own pace.
Training offers a great combination of strength, cardio, stretching, strategy and high-intensity bursts all rolled into one, in an environment where ego is left at the door.
The sessions are great for the body but also incredibly cathartic and good for mental wellbeing. Jiu Jitsu is deeply grounding, forcing you into the present moment, you can’t worry about inboxes or deadlines when you’re focused on moving, defending and problem-solving. Side note for the men who might dismiss the mental health side of things: genuinely, please don’t, and give this a go.
The wider club community is equally outstanding. Everyone from new white belts to experienced higher belts creates a welcoming, respectful, ego-free environment. People share tips, encourage progress, roll safely and ensure you never feel out of your depth. The camaraderie makes a huge difference when you’re starting something new. There’s no judgement here, only support.
Final Thoughts
This club stands out not just because of the high standard of coaching, or quality of training, but because of its ethos. It’s a place built on respect, kindness, discipline and genuine community spirit.
Whether you’re a parent looking for an enriching, confidence-building activity for your child, or an adult considering taking up Jiu Jitsu for fitness, confidence or mental wellbeing, I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
On the fence? Try it. You won’t regret it.
