I dropped in at Lexington BJJ & Fitness on a Monday and had a blast. Great people, great facilities, and a great program structure allow for optimized learning. I got some time with Michael and Derek, two very knowledgeable black belts who were more than happy to share their knowledge. If you are visiting Lexington or have moved to the area, you have to stop in at Lexington BJJ & Fitness.

Was visiting family over the weekend and the one thing I do on trips is find new gyms I can attend open mats at. After some searching I came across Lexington Jiu Jitsu & Fitness. My first impression upon arrival was everything looked very clean, organized, and welcoming. While signing the waiver at the front, one of their black belts, I believe his name was Michael (I’m terrible with names) introduced himself and welcomed me. The open mat lasted roughly an hour and a half and everyone there was very talented. From their wrestling to their jiu jitsu everyone was top notch. As a competitor myself I almost felt small and unprepared for what I had gotten myself into. They were all quickly able to expose holes in my game and challenged me more than most other gyms I stop at. If you are someone who is familiar with jiu jitsu or is a seasoned veteran and are looking for somewhere with a deep pool of talent I highly recommend this gym. If you are someone who’s interested in trying jiu jitsu out for yourself or for your child then you will absolutely be in good hands here. Will stop in again next time I’m in town, hopefully I’ll have filled in the holes I had during my first visit.

This gym is AWESOME!!! The coaches are phenomenal. The gym is clean. Everyone is kind and helpful. I just turned 50 with no experience in martial arts. There's no judgement regarding where you start. If I can do this, you can too!

Dropped in while in town on business - fantastic coaches, very motivated students, professional and clean facility with plenty of space throughout. Great, consistent turn out in classes and open mats of all different belts and skill levels- this is an outstanding school.

Mike and Polly have created an excellent training environment for all ages and skill levels at Lexington JJ and fitness. The facility is beautiful and exceptionally clean. Every person I have interacted with has been extremely kind and down to earth. The instruction provided is given at an appropriate rate of digestion which allows for myself to directly incorporate technique into my rounds. The integration of games and conceptual based instruction is an incredible addition to the standard BJJ class format. It's also worth mentioning that every Sunday at noon is a community open mat that is free to all. If you're in the area, check this place out!

Walking into Lexington Jiu-Jitsu for the first time, my son and I didn't know what to expect. Neither of us had ever done any type of martial arts and to be honest, we were both a tad nervous. But let me tell you, any worries we had vanished the second we were greeted with smiles and high-fives. The place is spotless - seriously, you could eat off the mats (not that you’d want to, but you get the idea). It's obvious that everyone here takes pride in keeping the gym clean and welcoming, which makes a huge difference, especially when you’re just starting out and everything feels new and a bit intimidating. But here’s the real kicker - the community at Lexington Jiu-Jitsu is something else. It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete newbie or if you’ve been doing Jiu-Jitsu for years; there’s this amazing vibe where everyone’s in it together, learning from each other and cheering each other on. My son and I felt like part of the family from day one.The coaches are awesome too. They have this knack for making complex moves understandable, and they’re all about making sure everyone, no matter their level, gets the most out of every class. Plus, they’re super encouraging, always pushing us to be our best while making sure we’re having a blast. To wrap it up, joining Lexington Jiu-Jitsu has been an amazing decision for us. It’s more than just a gym; it’s a place where you feel supported, challenged, and part of a community that celebrates everyone's success. My son and I are loving our Jiu-Jitsu journey here and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re thinking about giving it a try, do it! You won’t regret it. Five stars all the way!

I was back visiting family and checking out some BJJ places for when I move back to Kentucky. This place was great, everyone was welcoming, the entire area was very clean, and there were no egos on the mat. Anybody looking for a great spot to train in Lexington or central KY area I would recommend stopping in here. I’ll definitely be back during my next visit.

Absolutely incredible gym and community at Lexington Jiu Jitsu. I dropped in for a Sunday open mat (community roll) and everyone I met was kind and welcoming. The facilities are spotless and the mats may have been the best mats I’ve rolled on ever. I’ve been training for about 8 years and had good rolls with everyone.

This place is one of the cleanest, nicest and most instructive places in the nation. The instruction was detailed and the approach was different than most schools as it is more principals and concept based. I dropped in from out of town and every single person not only welcomed me but gave tips on how I can improve - it’s that kind of culture.

Lexington Jiu-Jitsu is truly a welcoming and friendly place. While I was visiting Lexington for a conference, I met with a local friend who has been going for a few months. I personally have never done any jiu-jitsu or wrestling of any kind, but my friend convinced me to sign up for a free trial class. The only class that fit my schedule was the intermediate level class, but Instructor Michael Seals and each and every participant of the class welcomed me with open arms and was very patient with me. I would highly recommend Lexington Jiu-Jitsu & Fitness for beginners and advanced practitioners alike! I will certainly be dropping back in on my next visit to Lexington!

Phenomenal experience. Definitely heavy on the family/community vibes. I’m from NC and came here for a drop-in class during my family reunion. This was my first time doing any kind of travel training. Everyone was so welcoming and respectful, and I can’t wait to show my home gym what I’ve learned. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in KY!

Stopped in to train while visiting in-laws, what a fantastic place to learn the art. The "vibe" was fantastic, with challenging rolls but a friendly and learning spirit. Will be my default spot to get some work in when visiting family in Georgetown. Thanks for a great session.

I tried a class here 8 months ago as a total beginner and have been hooked ever since. It is an incredibly welcoming environment with very clean facilities. The community that Professor Michael Seals and Polly Seals have created is special and Lexington is lucky to have a place like this.

This gym is great! The facility is large, clean, and accommodating. Every area of the gym is well cleaned, especially the Mats. The locker room is spacious, and the brand new mats also provide ample room to grapple safely. From what I have seen, the instructors here are not only more than competent grappling instructors, but are also working diligently to create a safe and welcoming culture.

What I like most about this gym aside from the encouraging and welcoming environment, is the sense of comradery amongst both the instructors and students. I’ve also recently enrolled my 6 and 7 year old in their kids jiu jitsu class, both of which love it. I’d recommend Lexington Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking to learn and train BJJ in a top-notch facility that’s consistent, clean and provides high quality instruction in addition to a great cardiovascular workout.

Thoroughly impressed!!! If you’re looking for a clean, professional, non-judgmental environment to learn and grow your jiu-jitsu fitness goals, this is your place. My husband has always spoke so highly of the owners and their extensive knowledge. Recently, our teenage daughter started taking jiu-jitsu lessons so I popped by to see her progress. Wow!! Not only has she learned so much, but she has gained even more confidence as a young female!! While I’m sure this is the go-to place for many seasoned athletes, don’t be intimated if you’re just starting out! 5 out of 5!!!!

LJF is a wonderful fit for me and my son. He competed in the National BJJ circuit with IBJJF, Newbreed, Fuji, and NAGA. I’m the middle aged “soft” dad who doesn’t golf, and needs a substative release from his day. This school is a perfect fit for both of us.

This is the most professional and well run gym I have ever been to. Proffessor Mike Seals is a true practitioner and teacher of the art. The facilities are immaculate and the service is quick. Everyone that I interacted with was friendly and supportive. My only critique is that I wish I could spend more time there doing what I love. Please stop by if you want to have the best Jiu Jitsu experience in Kentucky.

The best grappling and instruction in the area. Head coach Michael Seals combines professionalism with decades of martial arts experience to provide an optimal environment for all levels of grappling from seasoned black belts to those just looking to gain entry to the sport of jui jitsu. Combined with a brand new facility makes for an awesome training experience. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
