Louisville is the center of competition in Kentucky, hosting around half of the state's BJJ tournaments. Lexington and Bowling Green follow, with Owensboro, Richmond and Paducah hosting occasional events.
FUJI BJJ is the most active organizer, with the Louisville Winter Championship, the Kentucky State Championship and a Richmond Winter Championship. Louisville also hosts the Chewjitsu Open, the NEWBREED Louisville Fall Championship, the ADCC US Open, NAGA's Louisville Grappling Championship, the AGF Louisville Championships and the Midwest BJJ Nationals.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are offered equally, and nearly half of events run kids divisions. Adult entry is typically around $70–$100. December and January are the busiest months, with October also busy.
