West Texas Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Lubbock Texas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu(BJJ)
Martial Arts school. | Self-defense | Fitness | Training | Grappling
Stopped in and rolled here. Awesome gym. I’ve been training for 2+ years and never been anywhere that trains as hard. A bunch of friendly, tough, and generous guys. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.
I recently had the pleasure to train with Roger and the rest of the West Texas Jiu Jitsu family. The classes are very detailed and will help you get started into BJJ or help you throught your BJJ journey.
Highly reccomended for anyone looking to train BJJ, get self-defense experience or simply looking for a challenging work out.
I am a blue belt and have been training for years. Roger is one of the best BJJ teachers ever! Honestly go try a class at WTJJ this week,Jiu Jitsu will change your life for the better I promise! WTJJ is my favorite place to train!
Roger and all the students at West Texas jujitsu Academy have been nothing but awesome. I'm a 46-year-old male and have been coming for two months. It's been hard, it's been challenging, but I've enjoyed every minute.
Come join the fun and force yourself to grow!
I’ve truly enjoyed West Texas Jiu Jitsu. Roger has been patient with me while teaching the fundamentals, and I’m very grateful. I’m having such a great time learning, exercising, and experiencing something new.
Super welcoming atmosphere. Head coach is great and down to earth and Everyone in the class is super friendly as well. Will be training here for as long as I can.
Sensei Campos is an awesome instructor. His detailed instruction is by far the best around. Sensei Campos takes a systematic approach that takes away all the confusion of this complicated sport. Come by and see
why West Texas Jiu Jitsu is the premiere Jiu Jitsu gym in Lubbock.
If you are in the area you should be training here, I was traveling through and caught the Saturday open mat. Very respectful and welcoming atmosphere, the competition was excellent, the regulars all have a very solid game. I’ll definitely stop next time I’m back in the area, hopefully pick up some merch next trip. No shock the merch was sold out. Thank you to the Professor and the students, you have made a great atmosphere to train.
WTJJA is the BEST. You not only get top notch training there. It’s a community of people that are more like family and friends. Everyone is friendly and welcomes you with open arms. Look no further than WTJJA.
Roger is a top tier Jiu Jitsu professor. I’ve trained with him for over a decade, in that time he’s challenged me and made much better at the craft. He can help people at all levels whether the goal is competition, physical fitness or self defense. Everyone at the school helps each other, iron sharpening iron.
Got invited by a friend and was initially skeptical. I didn’t want to be a live throw dummy for some up and coming MMA fighter. I took advantage of his free trial day and was immediately hooked. All my original assumptions were dismissed. Roger’s teaching style and class structure is phenomenal. The other students were respectful and welcoming. They seemed to want to learn, and ensure their training partner is learning, more than just winning each practice roll. With a 6am class, you have time to shower and grab breakfast before heading to work, class, or the golf course.
On the way to attend Judo Junior Nationals, i took my kids to this class. The instructors, people over there were very cordial, and knowledgeable. I loved how they approach the game. If I were living nearby, I would have joined the place in a heartbeat.
This place is very welcoming and friendly to guest and first time students. Roger and his students are great to roll with, and there are lot of rounds after technique which I enjoy!
Went on a business trip into Lubbock. Gave Roger at West Texas a call and he welcomed me to the gym and the morning session. Great group of guys, well structured class. They really come down to your level and teach you. One of the guys stepped up and allowed Roger to walk around to guide others. If you're ever in Lubbock and looking to get into a gym, Roger at West Texas is your guy. Just tell him Theo sent you.
West Texas Jujitsu is a great academy to learn jujitsu, no matter what your skill level. From the beginning Roger, has been very easy to learn from. He teaches everything in building blocks, so even if you have no experience you can jump in and start learning. The school have a great culture and the other students are very welcoming. If you’re looking for a home, WTXJJA is the place for you!
I'd give more stars if I could, where do I begin?? This is the 3rd school I've trained at, and my best experience yet. I've had instructors who teach by the numbers and pound the techniques into you, I've had instructors that show you a technique once or twice then let you struggle with it for 20 min then move on....you won't see this under Roger. You can come in with or without experience and gain the same knowledge in the lesson as everyone in the gym. If you don't understand something he's right there to help you, if he sees a common misunderstanding in all the students, he fine tunes it for the class. You're going to walk out everyday learning something new, guaranteed!
Roger works on his techniques throughout the week, so this means you're not just seeing it once and moving on, you learn from repetition and he does just enough to make sure you learn it, without making it boring.
I've been to other jiu-jitsu schools here in lubbock but West Texas Jiu-jitsu is by far the best! Being a Beginning and a woman can be hard especially with social anxiety but Roger doesn't discriminate, I was very comfortable and if I needed alittle extra help even without asking for it he is right there always making sure each student gets it before moving on which I appreciate and respect so much! If you're thinking about joining the team and you have Children even better cause he has kid classes too 😊
This coach is great. Some Jiu Jitsu teachers focus on competitions and using the student to help get the teacher’s name out there, but they sacrifice self-defense training of the student. This teacher is very thorough in how he teaches techniques. Highly recommend Coach Roger to anyone interested in self-defense.
I’ve been training with Roger for about 3 years now, and there’s no way in hell I would go anywhere else. The proof is in the pudding, and the knowledge and skills that Roger has passed down to us is unparalleled to any other school.
If you’re looking to compete or simply learn how to defend yourself, there is no place more effective than West Texas Jiu jitsu, and if you don’t believe me come in and see for yourself!
I have grappled for many years...but my jiu jitsu has got an exponentially better this year while training at West Texas Jiu-Jitsu.
The system goes step by step and makes a lot of sense. And we get lots of time to spar and put the moves that we learn to the test every class.
Hands down the best Jiu-jitsu school in the State, and possible the Nation. Roger is an experienced coach and teacher who will stop at nothing to make sure his students succeed. I started nearly two years ago as a complete beginner, and I've grown tremendously under his teachings. If you want quality instruction that touches all aspects of your life, West Texas Jiu-jitsu academy is for you!
I have been going to this BJJ academy for about 4 months, and I recommend this school to anyone. The lessons are structured with chapters that focus on specific topics.
In addition, beside the usual classes, there are fundamental classes, stand up classes, and open mat Saturday for anyone who's interested in learning more.
Roger cares about his students and takes the time to make sure his students get quality reps. He’s spent years honing his craft and will always go the extra mile for anyone in his classes. He has no secrets, if you train with Roger, his goal is to make you better than him someday, he won’t rest until the student becomes the master.
Learning at this Academy has been extremely rewarding. As a student, I wanted to find a gym that would have technique and sparring, this has it. Roger explains everything and covers all areas of training with extensive and thorough demonstrations and teachings. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn, to visit here and see how it would benefit you. Excellent establishment, great teaching, friendly atmosphere. 10/10
My boyfriend absolutely loves this Jiu jitsu academy. He has been learning a lot of new techniques, that he like to frequently practice with me at home. He gets super excited every time he has a class and loves telling me about all the fun moves he has learned. He has made plenty of friends there, which he loves to talk about. I would recommend this academy to anyone!
I’ve been going for 3 months and I love it. Roger is humble and loves to teach. I was a complete beginner when I walked in and my competency has grown like crazy in a short amount of time. The atmosphere is friendly and competitive. This is a great place to train.
