I was in Lubbock for a week and dropped in for a couple days. I was a little nervous because it was my first time dropping in at another gym. Everyone was super welcoming and made me feel like I was at my home gym. The training is very good here and the instructors do a great job of explaining and demonstrating the techniques. I will definitely return to this gym the next time I’m in town.
Was in town for NJCAA indoor track and field championships. Wanted to learn and get some mat. Dropped in on their morning and evening sessions. Had an absolute blast, very friendly and welcoming. Was able to learn and adapt their teachings into my game. Would 100% come back if I'm ever in the area. Thanks again for the hospitality, and if anybody is visiting from out of town I highly recommend dropping in.
Thanks

We love this place! All the coaches are amazing. The owner is super nice and dedicated.
I decided to try jiu-jitsu on a whim while having acai with my daughter at Bom Brazil. My first impressions of the gym is there's focus on environment, culture, family, and high level training. Bueno is a very clean and family friendly gym that values a positive culture on and off the mats. Parents like myself can train with focus and confidence that their child is in a safe environment. Douglas, the head instructor and owner, is an incredibly experienced jiu jitsu athlete who trained along with many of the greats in the jiu jitsu world in his career. My family high recommends Bueno Jiu Jitsu to anyone who is looking to take that first step into a challenging but very rewarding journey.
We are not from the Lubbock area but were in town for a couple days so we stopped in on one of the days to see if my daughter could train here and the owner/coach was very friendly and let her train with them and told us we can come any time we are in town. She really enjoyed the training here and wants to come back next time we’re in town.
My kids used to go here about a year ago. The instructors were very patient and nice, but firm. Always helping my Lil ones. Would love to get my kids back into it again.
I've trained with Douglas Bueno for 10 years. His is truly an amazing black belt and one of the best humans I have ever met. Go learn from one of the best in the area.
I highly recommend professor Bueno and all of the other members. I’ve been training for a few weeks and they have made me feel extremely welcome and have helped me develop more skills than thought possible within a few weeks! Great place to train!
Great group of people! Super motivating and hard workers. Coach Douglas is always positive and his gym is a great place to train! Thanks for always having me stop in!
I am new to BJJ and 6 months in; it has had a great impact on my life. I have met many new people most of whom are excellent training partners who genuinely try to make you better everyday. Good atmosphere, Good people, Bueno Jiu Jitsu!
I currently reside in Houston Texas and have been training for a short time. I really enjoyed the classes, teachers, and students. It was very structured and teachers were very patient. I appreciated that and I felt welcome. It's extremely challenging to go into a unfamiliar place and train. As a woman, I have a strong desire to be able to protect myself and others. This is a safe place to train and grow. Thank you guys for the experience. 😁😁😁
I’ve been training at Bueno Jiu Jitsu for 5 years now and can truthfully say it has been the best thing that has happened to my life. I started training at 15 years old and have grown not only as a person but with this jiu jitsu family! I’m truly grateful for what Professor Douglas and the team has done for the gym and couldn’t be more happy to be apart of it!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bueno Jiu Jitsu and had an amazing time. Professor Bueno is an excellent instructor, and I highly recommend this place. The facility itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly. It truly felt like a home away from home. This is the best BJJ gym in town!
As a female athlete I feel very safe and comfortable, with all the coaches and the other athletes.
I also bring my kid to the kids classes and he loves Coach Douglas!
Doug is an excellent mentor and teacher. Level of teaching and training is great. Solid group of people to train with, also very helpful. Excellent atmosphere for learning and competing. Acai on site is a delicious bonus.
I recently had the pleasure of training at Bueno BJJ in Lubbock, Texas, and I must say that it was an incredible experience. The instructors were knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained.
I appreciated the focus on technique and safety, as well as the supportive atmosphere that was created among the students. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, the instructors are able to tailor their instruction to meet your individual needs and skill level.
The classes are challenging and engaging, and I always left feeling like I had learned something new and improved my skills. Additionally, the community at Bueno BJJ is friendly and inclusive, making it easy to feel like part of the family.

This has to be the best gym in Lubbock for Jiu Jitsu. I have been training under Professor Douglas for over two years now. The amount of knowledge this man has about this sport is endless. If you're thinking about trying jiu jitsu, just do it, show up, try it out I promise you will fall in love with it. If you've trained before and are looking for a new gym, I promise this one is the best in LBK. We win the AGF tournament pretty much every year. Our new facility is aesthetically beautiful and after your done training you can help yourself to acai, they have opened up so many training times and have showers so if you need to go back to work after a quick roll you can easily. I have made so many amazing friends here, so many positive, like-minded people here. I truly consider everyone who trains here family and this gym to be a second home to me! Would give 20 stars if I could!
I highly recommend this place! My daughter has learned so much in the few months she has been going. Professor Douglas and his staff are amazing, and so good with kids. No matter the experience of your child, they make you feel comfortable and push for better.
Professor Douglas Bueno has been my coach for several years now. He is genuinely among the best in the sport and his resume speaks for itself. He'll make you feel like you are part of the group from day one and really fosters a healthy training culture in the gym. So long as I'm a Lubbockite, I'll never train jiu-jitsu anywhere but Bueno.
Professor Douglas is the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) instructor in the area! He was trained under the great Professor Guto Campos and when you attend a class at Bueno BJJ, you will know it! Bueno BJJ offers the cleanest and spacious training area in Lubbock. Plus, you can get an amazing acai bowl right after a tough training session! Bueno BJJ offers a ton of training times and the classes are filled with encouraging students that all want to help each other sharpen their skills. If you are in the Lubbock area and want to challenge yourself and make positive improvements, there is only one BJJ gym you should consider… Bueno BJJ!
Best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym and group in Lubbock. If you are looking for a place to train a martial art for any reason, compete, weight lost, physical or mental equilibrium, this is the place. Awesome vibe at BuenoJJ! , highest level Brazillian jiu-jitsu in the town. This place is like a Haven, because u can choke people for Fun 😂. Thank's very much for the class professor Douglas and Gui.
I’ve trained for years here and during thins time I’ve grown a lot. My jiu jitsu has improved tremendously. Douglas is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had and one of the best athlete as well. If you go to Bueno, you can’t go wrong
I started jiu-jitsu 4 years ago, and I’ve only been at Douglas’ since the beginning of June last year and I have to say it’s the best bjj gym in Lubbock. The culture is felt as soon as you walk in the door. You get greeted by Douglas or the other instructors, and the gym is full of light. Not like dirty mystery gyms haha. Everyone is extremely kind, and you get exposed to the best jiu-jitsu lessons on this side of Texas! Also my 7yr old trains and he’s improved so much. Not like other gyms that just wanted our money. They care about the kids classes so much. We are all very thankful for BUENO bjj.
Hands down the best Brazilian Jiujitsu in the area. Talented and caring Professors and a beautiful new facility. If you're wanting to start your Brazilian Jiujitsu journey or have trained before this is the place you need to be.
I’m a blue belt under Doug bueno. The character and leadership he carries around is contagious. Doug is patient and very giving. He asked nothing in return. Just work hard and compete at the best of your ability. Him and his academy push you to be a better version of yourself. My family was welcomed and encouraged to all train and in fact has brought us closer. The bueno team is a family and this journey will be nothing less but exciting, I promise.
Bueno Jiu Jitsu has been an important part of my life for a while now. I joined because I wanted to improve my physical health. I stay because I never imagined how much it would also improve my mental health. Professor Douglas Bueno is a genuinely good human with a passion for helping others and the gym is a fun, safe place to learn. I highly recommend you give it a try.
Great Professor. Everyone is always enjoying the training. Great place for families and one quickly gets accepted as part of the Bueno Jiu Jitsu family.
Bueno bjj has been a great family to me . I have learned many great life skills that have helped me apart from learning world class jujitsu on the Matts . Thank god 🙏
Professor Doug is an amazing jiu jitsu instructor! He teaches in a manner that makes all students feel comfortable. He is very technical and has a lot of experience. Hands down the best place to train jiu jitsu!!
Professor Douglas has world class Jiu-Jitsu and is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The environment of his class is great, you have fun while learning. I highly recommend his school. Can’t wait to be back 🔥
I only started Jiu Jitsu last year and everyone here made me feel immediately welcome. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and teach with patience. The entire environment is friendly and comfortable. All my training partners have quickly become like family, and especially as a woman, I’ve always felt very respected. Never once has someone said anything inappropriate to me or acted in a less than acceptable way. There are a number of women in fact. Plus, the mats are kept very clean. This place is a win-win all around. (And after class, you can get some Açaí at BOM Brazil which shares the same space.)
This is by far the best gym I have ever been too! I train here with coach Douglas and he is the most kind, funny man I have ever met! He is great with kids and, he provides great discipline too.
The mats are always clean and so are the floors. They have a little set of workout equipment, and stuff for games, as well as some couches to spectate the classes.
Everything about this place is great! Don't worry because if you forget your belt or your gi they have extras.
Hands down the best place in West Texas to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Douglas is an amazing fighter and teacher, and everyone involved with the gym is extremely professional. Highly recommend to everyone wanting to try martial arts training.
I've tried different jiu-jitsu gyms in Lubbock, but Bueno BJJ is by far the best one. Professor Doug has created an overwhelmingly positive and encouraging community. The class schedule is very accommodating for all schedules and ages. The gym offers classes for adults at 6am, 11am, 6pm, and 8pm.
If you're curious about starting jiu-jitsu, this is the best place in town to start!
Took a trip to train with these guys last year for a week. Really great experience. Leaned a lot from coach Bueno and still continue to learn whenever he comes and does seminars in Kansas he is very passionate about jiu jitsu and so are his students. They are the best Lubbock Texas for sure if you are in these area this is a gym you definitely want to drop in at.
Professor Bueno is very welcoming and knowledgeable. My children also love the kids classes here which he teaches himself. I have trained several different places around the state and this place has as good of instructors, facility, and team members as anywhere I have been. It also has a very welcoming group of people. Stop in and I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Bueno BJJ overall is a great place to learn, train, and make new friends. Whether your goal is to be a hobbyist or a competitor, Doug's teaching style is flexible & can accommodate your overall goal.
The thing that stands out the most:
1. If you are a female and hesitant to try out a class b/c you think the entire class is a bunch of dudes, you don't have to worry as there are a lot of female students to pair up with.
I just started with Bueno Jiu-Jitsu 2 weeks ago. As soon as you walk in the doors, the atmosphere feels like home. Very beginner friendly. All the professors there are very patient and always make sure that you get the technique down. For the days that you just want to come in and spectate, they have an amazing açaí bar!
This is an amazing place to learn competitive jiu jitsu, as well as establish new relationships within a positive environment. Professor Douglas Bueno has a huge competition resume and has not only won at the highest level, but has built multiple champions from white to black belt, and even more importantly has built a positive community for Lubbock, TX.
If your looking for the best in Lubbock look no further than this place. Doug has world class training. He is always looking to expand his knowledge and pass it on to his students. Families are encouraged to attend. Classes from littles to adults and every experience level is welcome. Jiujitsu changed my life. Come on by to see if it can change yours.
Coach Douglas and his coaches are hands down the absolute BEST with kids! I cannot recommend him and his gym enough. He is the most patient, kind, caring coach my kids have ever had, yet expects them to learn discipline and work hard at every practice. My kids enjoy every minute they are there.
My 5yr old daughter started almost a year ago and she loves going. Coach Douglas makes it fun for the littles while still teaching them the basics of jiujitsu.
My 8yr old son has been training with coach Douglas for almost 2 years. He has not only progressed tremendously in jiujitsu since being with Doug, but he has grown so much as a young man. His confidence in himself has skyrocketed since training in jiujitsu. Not only have we noticed it ourselves, but I have had multiple family friends tell me he has come a long way from the shy, timid little boy he used to be. He’s confident, determined, and I know he’s learning skills he can carry with him for the rest of his life. Jiujutsu has also helped him in other sports such as football and basketball. He’s no longer nervous to get in the mix and get pushed around. He’s tougher than he’s ever been!
This gym and gym family has become such a huge part of our lives and I am so thankful to have met Coach Douglas and his team of amazing coaches! If you’re looking for a gym to love your kids as their own while also teaching them self defense, hard work, and discipline…. THIS IS THE GYM! Thank you Coach Douglas!
Awesome instructor, top notch gym and a fantastic team of fighters. If your looking to compete, just make friends, get healthy, join a community, or learn to protect yourself. This place has it all.
The BEST place to join! Family atmosphere. Great for many ways- learning a new skill, workout, competition, or just to make new friends. My family and I love this gym and most importantly the people apart of it. My kids enjoy their classes and Professor Douglas keeps it fun for all ages. He is a great teacher and mentor. Do yourself a favor and try this out. It could change your life for the better, like it did mine.
This is the best bjj place in town. We have the nicest professors and friendliest environment. The classes from 6am to 8pm can accommodate any work schedule. Very female friendly too. Highly recommend.
Welcoming place for me to watch my grandson exercise. The exercise looks fun, and obviously great workout! Snacks to enjoy there too. Trying to talk my granddaughter to joining the club. The instructor’s are professional and encouraging…I like to see that.
Professor Bueno is very welcoming and supportive of new students and family. My young family members have been attending for 3 years, gaining confidence by participating in BJJ tournaments, and learning the lessons of hard work and sticking with something. They are also learning useful self defense skills, and staying in great shape. Oh, and there’s a smoothie shop on the same space, for after workouts!
This is hands down the best gym in Lubbock. Great professors and great people to train with. It is very authentic and well taught I highly recommend for anyone who is just starting or coming back to it.
Professor Douglas Bueno is an amazing jiu jitsu practitioner! He teaches in a manner that makes all students feel comfortable, no matter what experience level they are. He is very technical and has a lot of experience. Hands down the best place to train jiu jitsu in Lubbock!
The day I walked in the door I was greeted by everybody from class. The professor, Douglas Bueno, was very nice and professional. The techniques he taught were great and he was very patient.
All of the students had the same mentality to help their partner improve. All of the students were easy on me as I was new to the gym. This gym came highly recommended by my professors in Early, Texas. I was impressed with his class. I highly recommend it for all jiu jitsu levels.
