I was in Lubbock for work and dropped in to train at Base BJJ. It was a great experience. The instructors and students were all very welcoming. The drills and instruction were very good. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Lubbock.

Base BJJ in Lubbock is an awesome place to train. The people are welcoming, laid-back, and just solid all around. If you’re in town, definitely stop by for some good rolls with a great group. They’ll make you feel right at home. I will definitely be stopping by again.
Was traveling to Lubbock for work and dropped in to the 6am class. Professor Gabe was super helpful and welcoming as soon as I walked in. The instruction part of class was great and Professor Gabe did a great job explaining. Class had about 15 people in it and all were super welcoming. Had a bunch of fun rolls; a great time overall. Will for sure be back whenever I'm in Lubbock. Thanks to Professor Gabe for being so welcoming and helpful!
I’m in Lubbock once a month for work and was looking for a place to get at least one session in per week while I’m there. Gabe was super cool about it when I reached out. Showed up on a Tuesday for Nogi class and had a great time. Good vibes and tough rolls. Will definitely be back!

We aren’t local but stopped in to see if our daughter could train here while we were in town for a couple days and the owner/coach was very nice and said she could come and train with them anytime we’re in town. It was a great gym and a good challenge and opportunity for my daughter. We really loved the way they train here!

We have been coming here as a family for 4 years. Coach Gabe and Coach Greg have thought my kids discipline, focus and know how to make classes interesting to keep the kids involved. We get to see Miranda and her smile everyday and it’s a great place to be.

Amazing communication and fast response. I contacted Base BJJ through their website. Ten minutes later Professor Gabe called me. I grew up in Lubbock and will be visiting my Parents in August. Last year, I had a teammate go to Lubbock for work and he trained at Base. My Teammate told me the school was awesome, solid and had good vibes. I wanted to get permission to drop in. Professor Gabe said it was no problem and that I was welcome. I was looking at Base's BJJ schedule and Lubbock is so lucky to have a legit BJJ school with SO MANY classes throughout the week. I've been training for 8 years and started at age 40. BJJ is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is so physically and mentally challenging. There is a cliché in BJJ that "BJJ will change your life". That cliché is so true. When you are on the mats your entire focus is on BJJ. You are not thinking about work, kids, or any of your daily stresses. BJJ is vital for my physical and mental well being. If you are curious and want to try BJJ contact Base BJJ. It was nice meeting Professors Gabe. All of the students were nice, trained hard and trained safe. And after class going to One Guy From Italy and getting a Calzone.was the icing on the cake.
Dropped in from Denver for a wedding and reached out to the team at Base about getting a roll in. Professor Gabe was super welcoming and his entire team was a lot of fun to work with. Enjoyed the open mat as I was able to work through moves that have been holding me up and holding me back. Base is our gym home away from home. Gabe and Greg are amazing coaches with so much knowledge but also very down to earth. The other members of staff are so nice and welcoming as well. They’ve got great students to train with and visiting their gym is always a breath of fresh air.

I simply cannot say enough good things about this academy. They have an amazing kids program, a badass competition community, great communication through social media, and much more. Base BJJ has truly changed our lives! My kiddos have been training here for the past few months and I just can’t speak any more highly of the coaches! BASE Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Lubbock, Texas is an amazing place to train. Anyone who has trained there immediately falls in love with the place! The students are knowledgeable and always respectful. The atmosphere is light but the athletes always train hard. The goal of the gym is easy and accomplished every day…to simply be 1% better than you were before you walked in. Every gym says they’re family, BASE BJJ proves it. I was one of first members there at the gym. Although I haven’t been there in 2 years, I still maintain good friendships with many of the athletes there. Professor Gabe is one of the best around and pushes the principles of Jiu Jitsu: fundamentals, focus and execution. Things that are forgotten in so many other gyms. BASE BJJ is one of the best gyms in Texas!

It is an excellent place to learn self defense, basic/intermediate/advanced Jiu Jitsu, and competition on all levels. Their instruction focuses on men, women, kids and teens. I highly recommend BASE Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I value the time I get to spend on the mats with the team.
I was first introduced to BASE when they were hosting a seminar. I was a member at another gym at the time, but attended the seminar as a guest. BASE made me feel welcome and it was clear that Gabe and Greg were really serious about supporting not only their students, but anyone interested in BJJ. It was an easy decision to transfer to BASE after that. This gym is a great place to practice - whether you're a beginner, have never stepped foot on a mat before, or have been practicing for years. It's also a perfect place for kids to practice; they'll learn skills that will make them become better adults (and the adults learn skills to improve themselves, too!) I've come to feel like the people at BASE are more than just gym-mates; we're all a family who supports each other in and out of the gym.

This is by far the go to gym to learn and train Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I starting training under professor Gabe and Greg in 2019 and it has been a blast. And they are extremely detailed in the way they coach and teach. As an active competitor in the art I have heard how others coach and guide their students in competition and I will tell you Gabe and Greg are night and day from the rest of the coaching and eye for small details I have seen to help you win. So if you are looking just to get in shape or actively compete at the highest levels in bjj. I will 11/10 recommend Base. Great coaching and great teammates who are also willing to help you improve yourself in all areas you may be struggling.
Amazing place to train with a great group of awesome grapplers. The professor is a legit Bruno Bastos Black Belt with lots experience experience as a coach and competitor. I love the way Professor Gabe runs his academy and the family that they have built. Family friendly, law enforcement friendly, I would train there any giving day.

Base bjj is absolutely the best place to train if you’re in Lubbock. Coach Gabe and Greg are very experienced as competitors and as instructors. My girls started training with them and it has worked wonders for their confidence. The kids program is second to none and I advocate for any parent to let their kids try it. As an adult who trains I am grateful for a setting where I can go in to learn, and if I want to push myself I have friends who are also students that are competitive. There are many benefits from this sport and they can all be gained right here at Base bjj.

I was traveling to Lubbock for a week due to work. Since I am a jiu jitsu practitioner whenever I am on a work trip I am always on the lookout for a jiu jitsu gym. I found BASE jiu jitsu in Lubbock and visited it. Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and skillful. Gabe, the head instructor/owner, is an extremely technical and knowledgeable professor. The gym is very clean and up to date. If you are traveling to Lubbock or live in the area I highly recommend that you visit this facility.

When I first walked into Base, I didn’t know what to expect, especially coming from a wrestling background. That changed when I met professor Gabe and Greg. They’re very knowledgeable practitioners, and precise with their skill. I could go on about both professors and their professionalism, but what caught my eye was the students. Each and everyone of them are willing to help you get better, I now consider them as family. Base Jiu Jitsu also has a great kids program that I have now enrolled my two kids in, and they love it.

Gabe runs an effective and knowledgeable program. I haven't trained at his facility yet but I've coached against his kids in tournaments. They show great skill and technique which is obviously reflected from his training.
I’ve been training here for a little over two months. It has been a great experience. Gabe and Greg have created a great environment in which to train. The whole feel of the group is one of mutual respect while challenging you to excel where ever you’re starting (I started with nothing at 40, and I love it). I also have 2 boys trying here as well, they’re loving it too. Cant praise these guys enough.

Gabe spoke to me about the advantages of Jiu Jitsu for my daughter and I have not been disappointed! He is a fantastic coach and great with all ages. My daughter loves training with him and will continue to do so.
My 5 year old stepdaughter has been training at BASE for about 5 months now. She absolutely LOVES it and will be competing for the first time this upcoming February. Gabe is an amazing instructor and just an all around good person. He’s stern but also knows how to keep the classes fun and enjoyable for the kids. I will always recommend BASE for both kids & adults. it’s an upbeat, family type environment. Clean facility and the perfect way to get into shape not only physically, but mentally as well.
I dropped into BASE BJJ while visiting family for Christmas and I ave to say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The Mats were very clean and hygienic. And the quality of the training there is a cut above all the rest. I recommend this place to anyone trying to improve their jiu jitsu or trying to get into it!

Base Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a gym that I highly recommend to anyone interested in learning a martial art. I choose to go to Base BJJ for the following reasons: (1) the people - everyone is very welcoming, friendly and supportive...there are no jerks or over-inflated egos; (2) the head instructor/owner Gabe Hernandez and the other instructors - all are extremely knowledgeable, remarkably patient, and genuinely interested in making sure that you are learning and making progress; also, there are not many places that I know of where you can go and sometimes find 4 black belts on the mat instructing lower belts; (3) the class schedule - classes are offered Monday through Saturday, so there's always a class available for you to attend; and (4) the affiliation - Base BJJ is an affiliate of Bruno Bastos, a world class competitor and champion with an impeccable reputation on and off the mat.
This place is more than a Jiu Jitsu academy, it is a home. The owner Gabe Hernandez does a great job helping you become a champion on the mats but also in your own life. This place is a home and gives you a sense of belonging. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in town. This is the place to be not only because of the professor but because of the amazing students as well.

Prof. Hernandez is an awesome instructor and has done a great job teaching my 6 year old son. Very approachable and informative. Very clean and well equipped facilities. The training is very adaptable to all skill levels and capabilities. You don’t have to be in-shape to start training. Every person should at least try jiu jitsu and this is the place to do it.
