Expert, careful instruction from respected professional fighters who have competed in the cage and on the mats. Friendly and welcoming environment for all levels, beginners to fighters and every level in between. It's also super clean. I have no hesitation sending my family here and highly recommend this gym! You will be inspired and motivated for sure!

Not only is this the BEST gym in CT for anyone to be an amateur or pro MMA fighter, it is also the best place for all seeking to take on martial arts. Beginners know that you'll feel very welcome here, and you'll notice your improvement sooner than you think. The coaches here are top notch and the motivation that Nick brings to every class will push you to be your best. They offer diverse classes that are very detailed, and the environment is very friendly. FAA all day!

The energy you feel when walking into FAA CT is totally unexplainable. There's no words. I've only been going for almost two months...but have already grown so much skill wise, mentally, all while having a great time and making friends. Coming here is the best decision I've made in years. Nick, Roger, and Stan are awesome coaches and I feel there is a perfect balance and synergy with being able to learn different things from each of them. They're building such well rounded fighters here that are going to continue to dominate and succeed, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind. 100000000% recommend 😊

very great gym for all ages, level of experience. this gym has multiple different striking and grappling classes from the hobbies, to professional. very family friendly. clean gym. the coaches and owner are extremely nice and mostly important knowledgeable. this guy made a lot of champions. price is very good, definitely get your bang for you buck with all the different classes. gym has a cage, a bjj, and a bunch of heavy bags. no weights which is kinda a bummer, but has a few fan bikes and treadmills for your cardio which is cool. the bathrooms are clean with a scale which is nice. overall i’d say this academy is awesome. 5 stars from me.

Nick is one of the best instructors on the planet. He is world-class in both MMA and jiu-jitsu. There is not a single other school in the area that could compete with them!

I'd give six stars if it was an option. I joined FAA about one year ago at 30 years old with no martial arts experience. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, welcoming but also stern and effective. The culture is fantastic, people are close, root for eachother and work together to improve. Whether you're a fighter in your young 20's or a parent in their 50's there's classes that fit what you're looking for, as long as you're up to the challenge. I only wish I would have joined sooner.

Pulling up to the 6:00 PM kickboxing class is one of my favorite things to look forward to when I get finished at the office. Nick Newell is one of the most talented, inspirational and kind athletes I've ever met. I stink and he helps me every step of the way... I'm proud to wear my jersey anywhere I go and talk about FAA. Any age, any level of skill or athletics, there is a team of professionals to help you drop your bad habits and leave with a smile. I can't make it as often as I'd like, but when I do it feels comfortable on the mats.

This is one of the best places I have ever been to. As a newcomer, and someone new to the martial arts practiced here, all the instructors have been very open and upfront with me. They speak from a place of authority without talking down to anyone. They were not only patient and took the time to help me learn personally, but it is also apparent that they work to maintain a safe and positive atmosphere. They made sure that I was able to participate in whatever activity I was able to be a part of and paired me with people that could work with me and show me what to do. Above all, this place is very inclusive of all people. I am so grateful that I found this place and have the opportunity to study here. So far, all of the other students have also been happy to show me what they know and help me learn. I could hang out here every day.

I trained here for a while, these guys are true professionals but they aren't a-holes about it. These guys really know their stuff! If you're just trying to get your aerobics in you can do that here but ideally this is THE place to go if you want to study and learn the ins & outs of MMA.

Stand by to get some. FAA-CT is a low-frills MMA gym where the focus is on family, friendship, and getting after it. Nick and his instructors are top notch professionals who make it a point to connect with every student. They make sure new students are given a comfortable place to practice and learn while still giving the experienced athletes the space they need to work and sweat. FAA-CT is MMA-focused so very little time is spent on the structure and rituals you may have experienced in traditional martial arts. The gym is kept clean and the atmosphere is loosed and fun while still maintaining high levels of focus and safety for all. They are also very affordable compared to comparable MMA gyms in the area. The best endorsement I can give comes from my kids. My 9yo daughter checks the class schedule a few times a day and won't stop asking what class is next and how many days away it is. My 15yo has found a new extended family. She leaves every workout glowing not because she's learning how to fight, but because every adult in the gym has taken the time to learn her name and gives her the "good work" fist bump after every class.

As a new student I was immediately impressed by how Nick Newell runs his gym. He spends a lot of time teaching new students the basics. Everyone is friendly at the gym and the more experienced students go out of their way to help anyone starting out. If you have any interest in learning martial arts I would highly recommend checking this place out no matter your skill level.

Fighting arts academy is an incredible school to go to and the head coach and owner, Nick Newell, is one of the most talented and genuine coaches I have ever worked with. This school is perfect whether you're looking to just become active or looking to become an MMA world champion. The environment is very welcoming to all people regardless of experience and skill. Nick puts 110% into this gym and his students and will go above and beyond to help you achieve your goals. Would strongly recommend everyone give this place a shot!

Just started training with Nick at FAA. His enthusiasm for coaching has sparked my interest in both grappling and striking. He's an incredibly well-rounded athlete who encourages students to work hard. The price is reasonable and the class schedules are very manageable, I would definitely recommend FAA to anyone interested in beginning Martial Arts or experienced grapplers/kickboxers.
