Connecticut's tournaments are concentrated in New Haven and South Windsor, which host far more events than anywhere else in the state. Ridgefield and Norwalk see occasional competitions.
Grappling Industries Connecticut is the most frequent event, using round-robin brackets so competitors get multiple matches. NAGA holds several Connecticut Grappling Championships each year, and other recurring events include the FUJI BJJ CT State Championship, the FUJI BJJ Middletown Fall Championship, the NEWBREED Connecticut Summer Championship, Gaman's Submission Challenge and Connecticut Open, United Grappling Connecticut and the Tap Cancer Out Connecticut BJJ Open.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are both widely offered, and about one in three events runs kids divisions. Adult entry is typically around $30–$110. October is the busiest month, followed by December and June.
