Every person I have come into contact with since joining Legacy has taught me something valuable whether it be about BJJ, life, or myself.
I am humbled by their willingness to teach patience and foster learning without judgement. I can't say that about a lot of things in this world right now.
I am healthier than I have ever been and it's not just because of the choices I make outside its because Legacy is constantly building me up and encouraging me to try, try, and try again.
I have so much respect and gratitude for this place and the people in it! Come try it out!
If you’re wanting to learn SELF DEFENSE😏, get in shape or compete, this is the place! Great coaching and great team mates willing to push you. Friendly environment and very welcoming.
Very nice people , don't have much to say but man these people are Great and are patient, they go with the pace you're learning , and over all great people and place
I had an excellent experience at Legacy. I attended the free women’s defence class on Saturday with Stephanie and Hunter. They were so welcoming and patient with newcomers. Such an important initiative helping to empower women.
Only my second class so far instructors have been very welcoming and helpful.
Update: been going here for over a year now and enjoy it even more than when I started.

(Almost 5 years and more to come!)
👊🏽☕️
I had a great time training. The team was friendly and really welcomed me also I noticed they clean the mats after every practice witch is really important to keep everyone safe…
A friendly and welcoming martial arts school that teaches legitimate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Muay Thai. I highly recommend giving the lead instructor a call. He moonlights as a comedian!
Best Jiujitsu/MMA gym in Alaska! Super friendly/family environment! Legacy is definitely an excellent place to learn jiujitsu and make some friends while doing so! Come out and train!
I started learning Muay Thai and BJJ in Las Vegas when life happened and brought me to Alaska. I had made some great connections there so I was pretty particular about what I wanted in a gym.
I tried out a couple of gyms up here in anchorage and eagle river but none of them worked for me, it’s easy to feel threatened by people’s egos walking into a new gym.
Later on I was told about how awesome Legacy Jiu Jitsu is and that I would surely love it!
I was hooked! I consider myself a tough student, but the coaches here really connected with me. Grant has such angelic patience teaching me Judo and Jiu Jitsu lol!
Niko’s Muay Thai classes are intense and a lot of fun!
Jordan, Franky, and Nifo are also some of my favorite coaches!
As a woman practicing with many guys, I’ve never once felt uncomfortable.
There is also a FREE women’s self Defense And BJJ class on saturdays at 11 at the west location on international!
Not to mention how many amazing Champions this gym produces! Yea we are talking olympians, tournaments and UFC champions!
The community alone here is powerful! They’ve all become family. I highly recommend Legacy to anyone wanting to get started on their martial arts journey! You won’t feel out of place ❤️
When I first started attending Legacy, I was going through the hardest year of my life. I was losing my mother to cancer and struggling to cope with the loss. A friend convinced me to give Muay Thai a try, so I did. I was frustratingly terrible at first (I'm a perfectionist). But I kept at it with the help of a great training partner and wonderful coaches. And I became a part of a big family that I'd be lost without (they carried me through that year). I've come a long way in my training and I now attend five days a week. If I miss a day, I feel a little lost. I even found myself missing my Legacy family while I was on vacation! I know, crazy. I don't know how much weight I've lost, but I've gone from wearing a 10 to a 4. I feel stronger and more confident than ever. Try it.
I've been to quite a few Jiu Jitsu gyms over the past years due to being moved from state to state in the military. This is one I will hate leaving and will always stand out as one of the best. Highly recommended. Amazing atmosphere, Jiu JItsu Family, and of course coaching.
The coaches at Legacy let me train for a week this summer while on vacation. The atmosphere is very relaxed and positive; but the instruction is some of the best jiujitsu I've seen. I highly recommend Legacy for anyone in the Anchorage area.
Awesome place to take your kids. All of the instructors are very patient, professional, and are great at motivating people. My kids have been going here for 3 months and you can definitely tell the difference in their skills, health, and athleticism.
It would be a zero, but I don’t know how to pull that off…. I was an immature man 7 years ago…. People change, we loss loved one, we get older and wiser… this place denied me access to there gym because I stood up for a friend of mine and refused to let him be bullied by a certain blue belt, I was told I couldn’t come back… if the situation was looked at properly, I’d be further in my career… 7 years later, they are still holding on to a grudge… Subhanallah, alhumdilliah!!! I’m bring my community to another place… I don’t do grudges.. it one of the most childish things you can do. Just be careful guys…. Everyone that smiles in your face is not your friend…. MAY ALLAH PLEASE CLEASE THERE HEART AND FORGIVE THEM THE SINS AND THE PUNISHMENT OF HELL FIRE, THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND……
Jus watched a match at UAA Sports Center and watched one of their kids lose a match and for losing he punched the other kid talk about sportsmanship🤣🤣coaches needa get better at discipline
