Clean facilities, super welcoming team/family vibe, and super talented high-level instructors from all over the world. I've had a great training experience here from both a technical and community standpoint. No hyper-masculine or arrogant vibe that I got from a dozen other BJJ spots in DFW, and every instructor has been down-to-earth and patient for even my silliest technique questions. Multiple class times six days a week make it easy to train on my schedule. My young children now train here and love it as well. My daughter was hooked during her trial class with female instructor Carol, and my son says BJJ is his favorite out of a half-dozen extracurriculars he's in. Confidence for both has skyrocketed since joining Progresso, and they've grown so close to the other kids that they've invited them to birthdays.

I can tell just from the short time I was here that the people the run this gym and the students about west they are doing. Was in town for my son’s soccer tournament and I reached out to quite a few schools. Progresso replied to me and I am very happy they did. Great school with all color belts. The instructor Davi was about the nicest dude I’ve ever met and gave some great standup technique for the instructional portion of the class. We then rolled (which was what I was really looking for) and I got all I needed and more. On top of that the place is pristine with two huge and CLEAN showers. If you’re in town please check these guys out and if you live in the area I don’t know why you aren’t training jiu jitsu at Progresso!!!

Very cool sleek design, quality mats and extra large mat space . I dropped in for a nogi class at noon and the instructor was very friendly. Class format was perfect - warm up, good technique/ instruction (not too much ), drilling and then sparring . Variety of training partners was a plus as well. Great facility and instruction! In town for a few days for work and wanted to continue my BJJ training after starting around a year ago. I took the “BJJ Fundamentals” class. The students were very welcoming and the facility was extremely clean! The professor gave precise directions and clearly called out each position and defined it for the new students (e.g., half guard vs guard) which is great for brand new white belts. Also appreciate the instructor informing the class when to use light resistance during live rolling which anyone on the mats has witnessed white belts that think they are in a cage fight. Highly recommend training here for the instruction, people, and atmosphere!

I'm from AZ and needed a spot to get some struggle snuggles in while passing through town. I actually visited a couple different gyms here during my stay, and they're all good but I liked Progresso the best. Solid group of friendly stranglers, good atmosphere, and legendary coaches. If I lived here, this would be my spot. Also worth mentioning, they have the nicest locker room of any fight gym I've been to.

First off I would like to say that the owner of the Gym is extremely knowledgeable and fun to listen to. Huge shout out to Alex! The gym is extremely clean and the community is very welcoming. Im a BJJ beginner and everyone was more than willing to welcome me in and help me learn. The office manager (Chris I believe) is super helpful as well. Gym is well kept, clean and has nice amenities for those who like to change/shower at the gym. Definitely a BJJ gym ill be attending whenever I am in Texas.

Went for the free trial class and I had a blast. People were warm and welcoming, the professor was super nice and the way he translates the moves and how to execute them was amazing. I came in with a bunch of nerves and fear and left with a smile. The gym was very clean, the loner gi was very clean and had no funk to it. All around it was an amazing experience and if you're a newbie and want to try the sport, I can't recommend this place enough! My 5yo also has been to this gym and she had an amazing time as well in her first class.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this gem of a Jiu Jitsu academy. I have been to many schools and trained under some great teacher such as Dean Lister, Jean Jacque machado, and Gokor chivichian and would say that the owner and instructor Alexander Trans is second to none. The knowledge shared on these mats everyday is priceless from beginners to advanced. Davi Cabral De Souza is another black belt who teaches the classes and is ranked top 10 in the world both GI and No GI. This school is an encyclopaedia for Jiu Jitsu.

Progresso is the first place I tried Jiu Jitsu at, and it was one of the best introductory experiences to a new sport/community that I have ever had. Professor Alex is an extremely detailed, patient, and welcoming coach, and went out of his way to help me learn the material that day. The other students were similarly patient, welcoming, and helpful, and I came away really impressed. Side note - the facility is beautiful, spacious, and clean. Awesome environment to learn in. If you are looking to try Jiu Jitsu (or push your comfort zone with a new sport), or simply an experienced Jiu Jitsu athlete looking to join a new gym, you can't go wrong with this place.

I train in Northern Virginia at the Pedro Sauer HQ school where there are 7 or 8 black belts on the mat any given night and feel pretty spoiled with the level of technique I get there. I was visiting Plano where I grew up and trying to help a friend find a place to start training. After researching a bunch of other schools and looking at the BIO of the head instructor Alexander Trans we decided to check out the school. Really nice facility with a large mat space and a great vibe. We took the class and the level of detailed instruction was really great! The instructor is someone who is not only a practitioner, but has competed at and beaten people at the highest levels in the sport multiple times. Everyone there was super welcoming. My buddy is now a student there and I have a new place to train any time I get back in town. If you are anywhere near Plano and looking for a jitz school, I'd strongly recommend this place.

I visited Progresso Jiu Jitsu from out-of-town knowing that the head instructor, Alexander Trans, is one of the most accomplished Jiu Jitsu competitors from Europe, ever. On my first visit, I was greeted by friendly staff at the front desk and then by Alexander, himself. The gym space is clean and modern with new mats and ample space for both Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing. Most importantly, the gym has an ego-free atmosphere where people are mindful of training safely with their partners and respecting one another. If I lived in the area, I would join Progresso. Whether you are looking to start training for exercise, self-defense, or competition you can find what you need there for men, women and children.

TL;DR Come. Try a class. You will fall in love with BJJ and Progresso just like I have. I will literally pay for your first classes if you need the push. My goodness. Words cannot describe how good of an experience I have at Progresso during my first month of BJJ training ever. Professor Alex is actually phenomenal. He was / is a world class competitor (he is better at jiu jitsu than anyone else I know is at literally anything else). But it doesn't stop there. He is also a world-class instructor. His instruction extremely detail oriented and he does a great job of answering the "why" behind everything he teaches. Additionally, the community of people who come to this gym make it even better. They are highly skilled while also incredibly kind and patient, even towards a total beginner like me. If you're made it this far into the review, you should probably just quit reading Google reviews and sign up for a class ;)

My husband and I attended a class at Progresso while visiting Plano. All the students were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The professor was fantastic - his technique demonstrations were detailed yet concise. Most importantly, he paid attention to each student doing the move and provided corrections when necessary. It was a great class. As for the facility, it was exceptionally clean and clearly well maintained. Overall, Progresso is a great school and I highly recommend attending a class.

Professor Trans is very detailed when teaching technique and gives proper attention to each and every student. He is very accommodating even to those who are not super athletically inclined. He is very encouraging and continues to push you even on your bad days.

The owner (Alex) is such a wonderful and caring individual, which is reflected in the studio. He is very responsive and accommodating. The studio is very clean and well-maintained and has a warm and supportive environment. The instruction is high-level and allows all ages to develop the art of Jiu Jitsu! Very spacious and immaculate. There are multiple changing rooms with nice showers. The owners were very welcoming. The students were friendly and the environment overall made for a great experience. Professor Alex was very thorough and patient. His teaching style is easy to understand and takes his time with each student. Will definitely be back to train.

This is a fantastic place to really be able to learn BJJ in an atmosphere that is truly open and friendly. My granddaughter goes here for training and is thoroughly absorbed in the art. This is primarily due to Alex and his ability to relate to each child in such a way that that they just feel like they belong. His patience and training style are highly compatible. I have been involved with some teachers that came from a championship career to the teaching world and they were not teachers. Not only is Alex the instructor, he is a world champion and he has opened a world class gym. It is extremely clean and you always feel welcome when you walk in the door. If you have children, this is the place to bring them, you will not be disappointed.

Stumbled upon Progresso from a mutual friend who recommended checking out this gym. What I didn’t expect to find was not only world class instruction (Head Instructor/Owner is Alexander Trans who has competed at the highest level against some notable athletes in the sport), but a GREAT environment. Everyone at the gym is so kind and welcoming and after my first class here, I knew Progresso would be a place where I’d like to train and Alexander being someone I’d want to learn from. Alexander has a way of teaching the most complex Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves in a simplified way so that students of all levels can grasp the concepts of Jiu Jitsu. His attention to detail along with his competition experience allow him to give another perspective while teaching so you understand not only the moves being taught, but the common reactions from opponents, and the how’s AND why’s of doing something. Whether you’re looking for a new hobby or a long time Jiu Jitsu practioner like myself, Progresso is unlike the others. You walk in and instantly feel like family and I’m so grateful I found a gym to continue learning at.

Everyone should come and check this place out. The facility is spacious, well designed and clean. There are changing rooms and nice bathrooms for everyone to use. Head instructor Alexander Trans is fantastic and very knowledgeable; he is a world class BBJ instructor and practitioner who has trained around the world and competed with the best. Every student I have interacted with is very helpful and gentle, which as a white belt I really appreciate. You will not get hurt here. If you want to get in shape or lose weight and don't like gyms then you should come for a trial class. Its like playing chess and working out at the same time. The best part of BJJ is the relaxed atmosphere and the genuine comradery. BJJ should be fun and accessible to everyone; ego is left outside the door. Progresso represents the best of BJJ and I am glad to be part of the journey.

From all of the martial arts schools I have attended this one is by far one of the most professional and technically superior schools. There isn't that toxic leadership you get at some schools. Here it is just challenging technique and a good culture. I heard they have kick-boxing too, but I haven't gotten to go to one of those classes...yet!

Progresso is a fantastic gym and I can recommend it to anyone wanting. I'm new to BJJ and the instruction level is fantastic. Trans is an amazing instructor and knows his stuff as he's competed at the highest level. As needed for these times in COVID, the gym is very clean and health checks are done prior to every workout. The bathrooms and changing rooms are super clean and very nice. As I said previously, Trans is a fantastic instructor especially for the kid's lessons. He never shows signs of frustration with the kids when they don't seem to be getting the technique and is always helpful. He also makes it a point to listen to the kids when they have something to say--even when it's probably just to be distracting--so that each kid feels heard and a part of the group. The timed sparing is great and he makes them start in positions that require them to use the technique they just learned in full speed/strength. It's a spectacular gym and fantastic instructor.
