Myself and two of my kids have started training here. We all have so much fun. The kids love the kids classes and I have loved learning a new skill. Coaches Josh and Maylean really take time with their students to make sure everyone is learning correctly and working hard. And as a woman, they do an amazing job making sure I feel safe and comfortable with everything we learn and do.

Yesterday, I drove up to Hyrum, UT to support Josh and Maylean with some photography for their new jiu-jitsu studio—J-Crew Jiu-Jitsu—and to get a couple of rolls in myself. I was genuinely impressed. The energy in the space was welcoming and focused, and you could immediately tell that a strong community is forming here. Josh and Maylean have created something special: a clean, well-designed mat space, thoughtful instruction, and a culture that clearly values both discipline and friendliness. Whether you're new to jiu-jitsu or a seasoned practitioner, this is a place worth checking out.

Today, my heart was full watching Maylean and Josh live out their dream. The love, energy, and passion they pour into this amazing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community is truly inspiring. They’re champions not only in the sport, but in life—and seeing this space come alive is just a reflection of how much good they bring to everyone around them. We’re beyond lucky to call them friends and now have another place filled with warmth and purpose to train and grow in the art we all love so much. Congratulations to both of you—I can’t wait to come back for more rolls and memories.

If you’re looking for a place to learn or improve your Jiu Jitsu, this is definitely worth checking out!! They are not open yet and I will be updating my review after I get the opportunity to train there. *** updated review**** dropped in for a class while I was in town and had an awesome experience at J-Crew . From the moment I walked in, the coaches and students made me feel welcome. The instruction was top-notch—detailed, clear, and practical—and the training partners were skilled, respectful, and rolled with good control. You can tell there’s a strong team culture here, with an emphasis on learning and supporting one another. Whether you’re passing through or looking for a place to train long-term, this gym is definitely worth checking out. I’ll be back anytime I’m in the area!

The Johnson's record in competition speaks for itself. Josh is good at what he does, and is very knowledgeable in both jiu-jitsu and wrestling. The price he is charging for the quality of instruction is amazing.

Josh is an amazing coach! I have zero back ground in jiu-jitsu. Coach Josh made sure I understood everything before moving on to the next step. He doesn’t rush anything and he breaks it down into simple terms making it easy to follow. Go check them out! You won’t be disappointed.

Josh is a fantastic coach who truly knows his craft. I have worked with him for the better part of 11 years and watched him progress through the ranks while refining his ability to teach others. He has a gift for teaching and the accolades to back his lessons. Him and his wife (Coach Maylean) live the lifestyle. It isn't just a hobby for them, it's who they are. They are exactly the type of people I want my friends and family learning from. #Jcrew 👊

I have had the privilege of knowing the instructors at J-Crew Jiu-Jitsu for over six years, and I can confidently say that their expertise and dedication are unmatched. These instructors are not only incredibly knowledgeable about Jiu-Jitsu techniques and principles, but they also continuously seek to improve their skills, both on and off the mat. Their commitment to ongoing training is evident in every class, ensuring that students receive the most current and effective instruction. What truly sets them apart is their holistic approach to fitness and well-being. They are physically fit and prioritize their mental and emotional health, embodying the balance that is essential in martial arts. Their genuine care for their students is palpable; they invest time in understanding each individual’s goals and challenges, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment. If I lived in Utah, J-Crew Jiu-Jitsu would undoubtedly be my training spot. I couldn’t be more proud of these amazing humans who not only teach self-defense but also instill valuable life skills. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you will find a home here. Highly recommend!

I've trained with Josh and Maylean for years, have competed against Josh before, and they have come up and helped with our kids and teens classes for years. They are fully immersed in jiu jitsu, and work hard to prepare for (and win) tons of competitions! They put in the work to train themselves, and have taken time to help other athletes be better than they were. I'll be coming down to train with them, and you should too!
