My son has been attending Arte Suave for almost two months now and I have to say this has been the best thing we could've done for him. He tells me he feels more confident and strong since he started. So far, there has not been a class where the sparring wasn't closely supervised, which is a relief. I have to mention that the coaches do correct and discipline the kids when they aren't paying attention or talking, which honestly I love. The pricing is responsible for three 1-hour classes a week. So far so good 😊 we will stay here for the foreseeable future.

I can't even find words good enough to explain how much my child loves this place. The coaches are so good at what they do. My child looks forward to coming every single class and they even greet her and love her as if they were her parents. I have seen so much change in my child since starting jiu-jitsu. I am so happy I was able to find them and that a parent recommended them to me. Thank you coaches for the work you all put into our kids.

I visited Arte Suave several times over the summer while traveling for work. The owner, Big Jim, is very passionate instructor with a true love for the art. Hiago, the lead instructor, does a great job with technique and his attention to detail is next level. It was impressive that they both took time to help me with technique and guidance even though I was just a drop in from out of town. Every student I encountered, from a brown belt who just one Gold at Worlds to the newest white belt, was respectful and great to train with. This in itself should speak volumes about the academy. My son was with me on one of my visits and he was treated like family is well. He even made the comment “dad, if we ever have to move to Charlotte, at least we will have a place to train that’s like home.” Again, speaks volumes about the academy. The mat space was clean and mopped after every night I was there. I know this is a given at most places but it is nice to see. Overall, amazing academy. Thank you Arte Suave for the hospitality!

Absolutely beautiful jiu jitsu school!!! I travel to different cities often and try to get into a jits class wherever I go-- this instructor Hiago gives excellent instruction and detailed explanation and great rounds. He and his wife are high level competitors and it was an honor and privilege to train there with them and the other students.

My entire family and I have been training here for over 2 years now and we absolutely love it. They have kids classes starting at 4 years old PLUS an incredible woman's program/classes taught by a female professor. If you are looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym for you and your family I can highly recommend ASJA. Great vibes, clean mats, lots of classes to accommodate your schedule. Shout out to Hiago and SU who do an amazing job!

I was only on town a few weeks and they were very welcoming; instructors and students. Ive been to quite a few jiu jitsu gyms and this is one of my favorites. The instruction and drills were good. The mat was a good size, and classes had good turn outs. I would recommend this to anyone, i myself will be returning.

This is a wonderful place to learn from experienced and patient instructors. The gym is extremely clean with a hard working environment. The women’s class is fantastic, very welcoming, and everything you’d want from a jiu jitsu class!

Highly recommend!!! My 5 year old son and my 42 year old husband BOTH LOVE going here! All of the instructors are kind, patient and excellent teachers with all age groups. There are classes with boys and girls mixed, or women only and men only classes. They also have different skill level classes if you prefer a more focused class. General classes are mixed with different levels of skill sets but you all focus on the same skills together, which helps them learn at an advanced pace. Every class is different in focus, learning new skills and building off of previous ones. You can start at ANY time and jump right in. Fitness level is not an issue! This has built confidence and joy in our family, and we feel like part of the jiu-jitsu family now, too!

I visited this gym the first time because I needed a change after eight years training jiu jitsu. Everyone has different priorities when looking for a jiu jitsu gym. I wanted a safe, clean place with good jiu jitsu instruction and a lot of laughter. This is a hobby for me, so I want to enjoy training. Arte Suave has been exactly what I was looking for. The instructors all have high energy, and will push you to drill hard and grow - no matter your age or ability. The biggest surprise for me at this gym was their commitment to a women's program. It is a privilege to train under a female black belt instructor/competitor. Su knows her students' strengths and weaknesses, and helps us improve both. Jimbo and Hiago are also wonderful coaches and instructors. I always feel welcome in their classes, and I know I'm going to work hard.

I have been a student at Arte Suave for almost a year now. It has been one of my greatest privileges to be able to attend this academy. Black Belt coaches Suu, Hiago, and Jimbo are the most considerate, dedicated, and world-class teachers I’ve ever had. They are truly committed to our improvement and well-being. The culture at this gym is one that I am thankful for every single day I show up. Our coaches maintain a respectful environment and I’ve cherished the close friendships I’ve built during my time here. The gym accommodates both competitive and non-competitive students. While we are pushed to improve, students are in control of the pace that we progress at. Ultimately, we are responsible for our own improvement and our coaches do an amazing job of helping us get there. This is a great place to start or continue your Jiu Jitsu journey.

I started Jiu-Jitsu at 34 after not working out at a previous gym, I came to try out at Arte Suave to give one more go before deciding that it was not for me or the time in my life had passed for such a journey . The moment I walked through the Door Hiago , Sue and Jimbo made me feel like a was apart of their family , going out of their way to make sure I understood the technic but was also pushing myself like I wanted to before . I have been there for about 5 months now I guess , not only my daughter 8 started to train with me due to how great and welcoming the kids class was but I have just weigh myself the other day and I’m at pre 2006 weight. I’m getting ready to compete at the end of the year ….. if you would have asked me that a couple of months ago I wouldn’t have thought it was funny …… In conclusion im getting to do one of my favorite pastime that I have ever done but also my daughter sees it as father daughter time …… priceless……. That is all the things and more that the Arte Suave can do for you 🤙🏽🤙🏽 If you have any interest at all at the Samurai lifestyle please come check us out 💥💥🤙🏽🥋. .Brenno Marra Medeiros

After deciding to get in to BJJ I gave Arte Suave a call and spoke with Hiago. Since day one of walking in the academy, everyone has been extremely welcoming & helpful. The facility is always very clean and is beautiful. The coaches are all amazing and spend a lot of time with everyone. I am very grateful for the community that Arte Suave provides and I look forward to training every class. If you are interested at all in BJJ I highly recommend calling Arte Suave.

This is a top-notch Jiu Jitsu academy that will help you, your spouse, or children achieve your personal goals--whether it is fitness, mental, or finding a community. My son has trained here since last year and I have been training since April 2022. Without a doubt, this gym has helped us on and off the mats. Seeing my son grow in the sport and gain confidence in himself has been one of the most rewarding aspects of joining. Hiago, Su, Jimbo, and Justin are outstanding coaches with a tremendous depth of understanding in the sport--they will push you physically and mentally throughout your journey. In terms of the gym itself, this is a beautiful facility that is well kept and clean. I highly recommend this place!

Arte Suave was recommended to me by a jiu jitsu coach up in CT before I moved to the area. I've been training with Hiago, Susu, Jimbo and the team since the beginning of May 2021. If you are looking for a great place to train in the south Charlotte/Fort Mill area, be it for yourself, spouse, and/or kids, this is a fantastic place to join.

My son (7) and I both attend Arte Suave BJJ and absolutely love the family environment. The instructors enjoy sharing their knowledge with students and motivate them to be the best versions of themselves. I’ve seen my son’s self confidence increase since starting and I’ve been motivated to get off the couch and lose 25 pounds. I definitely recommend Arte Suave BJJ to anyone.

Pro: Great school with world class instructors. The environment is very inviting for all body types and ages. I signed my son up in Dec/2020, I signed up 3 months later and I don’t regret it. There is a myth in jiu jitsu that 90% of white belts give up I promise you that will not happen here, everyone is friendly, competitive and willing to teach. If you are looking for a place for your child to find focus, discipline, Respect, loyalty, etc this is your school.

First thing I noticed on arrival was how clean and well maintained the environment is kept. Its like they sterilize everything after every session. The instructor is a great teacher, very knowledgeable, patient and down to earth. Everyone is friendly and super helpful as well. I have learned so much in short amount of time already. I feel like it’s the perfect mix of the great environment, excellent training and positive vibes that have contributed to a awesome overall learning experience. I brought my child on the recommendation of another parents. He’s turning four next month so much younger than the other children, but he is excited to try it. The instructor who was a woman was obvious not happy that my child was having some trouble staying engaged but at the end of the class, she was very nasty towards him and refused to high five him. Ultimately, I do not recommend, this place for children as the instructors were very harsh and I don’t think they’re prepared to deal with all children Update: to my initial review I did get a call from the instructor who explained that she had years of experience …. but what was concerning is later receiving a call from a parent asking me to remove my review for “the sake of her child” I found this quite alarming but she then went on to attack me for my experience and the whole thing felt very similar to the interaction I saw the children experience … very much a bully culture and I’m saddened that I wasn’t just reassured that it was an oversight and a mistake instead I was name called and mu character attacked for sharing the experience. Overall the whole situation is quite disappointing.
