My son has trained with Leicester Ju Jitsu (LJJ) for around 8 years now, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Ju jitsu is an excellent martial art for all ages, offering practical self-defence alongside improved fitness, discipline and confidence. What really stands out about LJJ is the quality of the instruction and the supportive, welcoming environment. The club focuses not only on techniques, but also on real-world skills such as awareness, control, teamwork and mental resilience — all of which are just as valuable for adults as they are for children. LJJ also run great seminars on ground fighting and anti-bullying, helping students develop confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. In a world that’s increasingly sedentary and screen-focused, LJJ provides a challenging, engaging and rewarding way to stay active while learning skills that genuinely carry over into everyday life. Whether you’re completely new to martial arts or looking to return to training, Leicester Ju Jitsu is a fantastic place to start.

Excellent club, very well run by great instructors and assistant coaches. I’ve now trained at Leicester ju Jitsu for 13 years and I’ve loved every minute of it. Like anything in life I believe you get out of it what you put in, the classes are a great mix of abilities from complete new comers to Dan grade students. Everyone is made welcome. There’s a great social side to the club, we very often go for a curry or just an odd pint in the local pub. So if it’s building self confidence, fitness, meeting new friends then this is the club for you.

I’ve trained with LJJ for many years and more recently my eldest son also started training with the juniors. The teaching is and always has been excellent. It teaches not only martial arts/self defence, but discipline and life skills. Cannot recommend this club highly enough!

Gone from going 1 night a week to 2. Fantastic club with friendly atmosphere and great training ethos. I wondered how I would get on post heart attack and no spring chicken, but it’s be fantastic. My 14 year old Son also loves it, if you’re on the fence what are you waiting for?

My 6yr old grandaughter has been coming to little dragons for 5 months now and still really enjoys it and asks to come. They do a good job of mixing ju jitsu with fun activities so the kids learn moves without being in a full on formal training session. My grandaughter now knows the names of moves and can punch and kick on target with some force. Over 12 months now and still justifies the rating.

I joined Leicester Ju Jitsu about in 2010 to learn some basic self defense skills. The instructors and leaders were very helpful and friendly when I joined. Since then I have gone on to achieve my black belt which I would have never thought possible. They then mentored me through a coaching program and helped me to start my own classes.

My son loves this club. He has been attending for 15 months and looks forward to going EVERY week. The instructors are always kind and encouraging and want the kids to do well. The website with all the video support for grading is really helpful. The club has also puts on additional seminars that my son has also enjoyed. Great club to learn life long skills
