Our granddaughter attends AIM Martial Arts, McDonough Pkwy and we couldn’t be more impressed with the level of instruction, discipline, and confidence she has gained. The instructors are truly dedicated, patient, and passionate about teaching, ensuring that each student progresses at their own pace while still being challenged.
Not only has she learned valuable self-defense skills, but she has also developed greater focus, respect, and perseverance—qualities that extend beyond the dojo into her everyday life. The positive and supportive environment makes every class enjoyable, and it’s inspiring to see her grow both physically and mentally.
If you’re looking for a top-notch martial arts school that builds character, instills discipline, and fosters a strong sense of community, I highly recommend AIM Martial Arts. It has been an amazing experience for my granddaughter, and I know it will be for others as well!

I wanted my 6 year old to learn a few basic skills when we signed him up for the trial. Little did I know, this group of amazing teachers are focused on teaching my son to be the best leader he can be. He learns respect, focus, kindness, and so many other life skills that he will carry with him for the rest of his life. We come 3 days a week and always look forward to how much he grows while having so much fun in the process. Best thing I've ever done for my kid.

Very engaging and interactive with each student! She loves coming here
We really enjoy being apart of the AIM Martial Arts ATL (McDonough) team! They help to instill discipline and respect while harvesting a team-building and friendly environment. Occasionally, the owner takes her time to motivate and encourage the students by providing great speeches and engaging interactions during sessions which I personally appreciate. This displays concern and appreciation for her students and their families. A shout-out to the rest of the staff...Ms. Gregory is one of the hardest working instructions I've seen since serving in the military. She just keeps going and going...her energy is truly remarkable! Ms. Horan displays much patience as she works with the families at the front desk. She is very attentive and kind. Mrs. Cooper is always very detailed and informative during her orientations and works well with the students during private sessions. They all display a desire to do what they do as opposed to just reporting to work. That is rare in today's society. We currently have a 10yr old in the program and recently signed up our 5yr old! They look forward to attending class each week and are always excited to share the new things they learn. They both definitely have strengthened their self-discipline as well as their self-esteem since starting the program. I feel confident that they will be able to defend themselves if opportunity were ever to arise. So far, this program serves to be a great fit for our children.
Our experience here has been great over the past year in a half and I am well pleased. It has built my littles confidence, skills, leadership, discipline & focus even more. We love it here.

Overall great program and wonderful instructors! Our son loves it and we’re so happy we found you! Keep up the great work. You’re certainly making a difference in the community.
Martial Arts Is something I’ve always wanted to do. I just waited till I was 65 to do it. I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to do it, but the instructors will take it easy on you and go by your ability. I have been at it about six months now and really enjoy it. All the instructors and students are so friendly. And it’s great exercise. . I would recommend this to anyone.
My son Joah started here about 2 years ago. The best decision, everyone is so great and patient with the kids. Martial arts has helped Joah be more confident and Ms. Gregory is so passionate when teaching and speaking positive words to all these kids.
They also offer summer camp, parents night out and much more. Give it a try, your child will become a different person......
Thank you everyone for what you do!
McDonough ATA is a great place for families! They have classes that let kids and parents train together - making it more convenient for families. The staff takes a genuine interest in the students - both on and off the floor. ATA does lots of great activities to get students and their families having fun and working together. Highlights of the annual picnic include the Mom's Coconut Toss and the Dad's Hula Contest - complete with grass skirts! And, don't forget the Limbo Contest! They also do things to support the community and education. Raising money for college scholarships and Breast Cancer, contributing to local food banks, and various other charitable causes make students of all ages learn the value of contributing to society! I know my familiy has greatly benefited from this school!
My grandson attended a camp at this school and he had so much fun. They knew actually how to handle all his energy and we were very pleased with the results. I also, drove the after school van for them on several occasions. Ms. Lisa and Ms Jill are exceptional instructors. They both love what they do and show respect to all of their clients The children’s needs and safety are priority one. I would highly recommend AIM .
Great place for the kids to learn discipline, self defense, honesty, respect and teamwork. And the staff at AIM are great and super qualified (so many state champions)!
Hi everyone
I have two grandkids 11 and 9.
They have been with ATA since they were 5 and 4.
The experience and journey has been what I wanted it to be; fun, challenging,,enriching
And help like a village would be in helping me grow two kids facing a challenging journey. Thank you ATA me and the kids are very grateful for the part you have played in my journey to be a leader with a black belt. verrrry
I found this school to be very dedicated to the instruction of its students. They are patient, professional, emphasizing timeliness, discipline and respect. The students actually enjoy attending.
Our experience at AIM over the last three months has been great. The instructors and staff are top-notch. They bring a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for teaching, especially Ms. Gregory. Their ability to break down complex techniques into manageable steps makes the learning process both effective and enjoyable for our daughter.
I take my little sister here for her lessons. The staff are very friendly and understanding. Lessons usually start on time as well. My little sister is able to use what she learns in class in real life situations. She has learned so much in a short period of time.
I initially came across AIM when I was looking for summer camps for my son. He absolutely loved the summer camp experience and all the instructors. Before his first day, we went and met with Mrs. Cooper for orientation and it was very informative and gave me peace of mind meeting some of the staff. Everyone is very friendly! Now I have enrolled him in their after school program and the whole process was very easy. They even called me on this first day they were picking him up to double check his teachers name with the school. Once he arrived at the AIM location they sent me a text that he had been checked in. Very professional and very friendly people and my son absolutely loves it there! I’m very pleased I found such great program for him!!
We love AIM Martial Arts. My children look forward to coming to class. The discipline they have developed is remarkable. I would definitely recommend!!
Our experience at AIM was fantastic! Instructors and staff are so kind and supportive! My son enjoyed training so much and made great friends along the way. Totally recommend this place!
My 17 year-old daughter has attended AIM Martial Arts for several years now. The teachers seem to bring an endless supply of energy, know-how, and fun to each class. They always interact with the students in a positive way teaching them not only taekwondo lessons but also inspiring them to develop strong character and to better themselves. Recently my daughter started taking an additional sparring class as part of her taekwondo program. It was a big step for her and she was quite nervous. However, she was willing to take the challenge because she knows the environment is friendly and welcoming. The teachers encouraged her in a caring and professional way through her anxiety. I am thankful for the family atmosphere they provide as my daughter explores her interest in taekwondo and I would highly recommend them to others.
First of all I just love Ms. Piper, she is such a great instructor and a great leader. She does an amazing job supporting students and helping them to achieve their goals. She goes the extra mile and I really don't know anyone more committed to the students than she is. Her teachings go far beyond martial arts and I am grateful she is in the community. Thank you Ms. Piper and the AIM team.
ATA is the home away from home that you never knew you needed! Our family has been coming for several years. You become family. Thank you ATA for all that you done. 5 stars well deserved! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I trained with AIM Martial Arts as a child up into my late teens. The benefits I received as a result of my training are so numerous- discipline, learning about respect for myself and others, the benefits of practicing integrity, the communication skills I gained are used every day- I could go on and on! I cannot wait for my son to be able to train with this caring staff. Because of the training and studies they do in child growth and development, I look forward to giving this wonderful experience to my son in the future!
Thanks!
I am incredibly impressed with the progress my 8 year old son has made at AIM MARTIAL ARTS in just three months! Not only is he improving physically, but the improvement in his discipline has been remarkable.
The instructors at AIM are friendly, dedicated and skilled, providing a supportive environment for students to THRIVE. They instill valuable life lessons alongside martial arts techniques, fostering discipline, respect, and confidence in each student.
I am witnessing the positive impact AIM has had on my son's development and highly recommend it to any parent seeking a martial arts school that prioritizes discipline and character growth.
Thank you AIM TEAM for your dedication and commitment to helping students reach their full potential.
The atmosphere is great here. My daughter enjoy coming to the dojo. She has been going for about a year now. I really feel that she gaining confidence within herself.
I really love the vibe, the staff are amazing, the parents are great, kind, and supportive, and the entire place as a whole is a joy everytime I come to bring my children. My children enjoy it as well and we feel apart of a family when we are here. Great classes, great positivity given, awesome support, and fun.
Training with Aim Martial Arts, and being a part of Aim Athletic has improved my ability to compete, stay heathy, and in shape. Even my eating habits are a lot better.
I am amazed how far my kids have grown in skills and personal growth. Staff has always been professional and patient. It's inspiring to see how the staff also continues to perfect their skills for their personal growth as well for the growth of their students. I travel about 30 minutes to get here and it's worth every mile. This school is for all ages and I love watching the adults learn next to the kids. It must be quite inspiring for these children to experience their martial arts journey alongside adults.
My daughter and I have been a part of AIM martial arts for a little over 4 years. We have gained life skills, discipline, focus, belief, self-esteem, self confidence, a growth mindset and so much more. She has gained a peer base with like minded friends. AIM is a community that is looked at as mistakes are stepping stones for self discovery and growth. Aim martial arts pours into their students both young and older. Attending Aim martial arts has been the best choice I’ve made for my daughter and I.
I have been attending AIM Martial Arts since I was 5 years old. I have grown so much in so many ways as a person and athlete. The instructors and mentors have always pushed me to be better and better versions of myself. They saw the potential in me and helped me achieve my goals. And I still have plenty more growing to do and goals to reach! I would not trade my experiences at AIM Martial arts for anything. AIM Martial Arts is my home away from home! The sense of community and culture of growth and self discovery is an amazing thing to be a part of.
When i joined AIM Martial Arts I had 0 tolerance and anger issues bad but after a few months of training I have learned more patience and honesty. The instructors Ms. Gregory and Mr. Mack do an AMAZING job when teaching and do great when it comes to giving advice and helping student out with certain things. With Ms. Gregory being so young and an instructor she really is amazing at her job and both instructors are always interacting with the children to make sure they get the best out of learning these moves. They highly encourage doing your best, they always say its okay if you cant do something, and everyone in the school gives off a really good family atmosphere. I highly recommend them!
It is amazing to see someone like Ms. Gregory as young as she is to be an instructor! I come and watch my child in class and can’t help but notice how she reacts/interacts with EVERYONE young and old with confidence, empathy and understanding. She reinforces what it means to be a black belt and knowledgeable in every way. Of all the instructors that have come and gone from this school, she by far exceeds the standards and expectations!!! Thank you Ms. Gregory!

I have known Ms. Piper for over 20 years. She has dedicated her life to the martial arts and she strives to maintain the highest level of instruction available for her students. She is constantly learning the latest disciplines that will help her students achieve their very best! She is a very sincere woman with the highest integrity! I appreciate how she has a youthful energy and love for Taekwondo! If you are considering either studying martial arts or enrolling your child; you will not be disappointed with McDonough ATA Black Belt Academy!
My daughter thrives here. This is her second home. Everyone here is family. They support her and encourage her to reach the next level. She has learned discipline, self control, and many other life skills she would not have learned otherwise. Most importantly she has learned perseverance and confidence and to reach within herself to reach her goals. Thank you Ms. Piper and McDonough ATA!.
My daughter has gained confidence and focus through her training at McDonough ATA. The instructors and staff genuinely care and invest in their students. I would highly recommend McDonough ATA
to anyone who is looking to train in the martial arts. They take students of all ages and really work to bring out the best in every student.
This school is truly helping my son. They really know how to encourage and motivate children with Special Needs. Although we've only been here for a month, my son is already showing progress and others are beginning to notice.😍😇
My son has been a part of ATA for over a year now, and it has been a great experience. He’s learning so much more than just the moves, but also things like safety and confidence. He loves class and has been enjoying it so much. The instructors are all very nice and well qualified. The facility is clean and we always enjoy coming. Definitely recommend!
This is a fantastic martial arts school. I love all the instructors & the families! I couldnt imagine being on my journey to Black Belt at any other school. Love my ATA Family!
My oldest daughter has been attending ATA for over two years now. This is wonderful place to bring your children and it shows them leadership and Discipline. After care service is wonderful. ATA thank you very much for your service.
My daughter has been attending ATA for almost 1 year. She enjoys the overall atmosphere but it keeps her engaged as she learns new forms and works with different weapons. I also enjoy working with the instructors, staff, parents and other students.
McDonough ATA is very family oriented offering classes for kids and adults. My son has been enrolled since he was 3 years old and he really enjoys it. He learns life skills such as respect and communication each cycle. Friendly staff. My son still enjoys attending ATA and currently is a red belt!!
My son started at McDonough ATA when he turned 4 years old- and it’s been nothing short of amazing. He’s very timid and very shy, but through regular attendance I’ve been able to see noticeable growth in his confidence and how he speaks to adults. We still have a ways to go, but I have no doubt that the amazing staff at this studio will continue to assist him in his self growth. We have enjoyed these last several months so much!
The staff is amazing. Everyone is extremely polite and knowledgeable. It’s a family like atmosphere and my son loves going every week. I would recommend anyone to come and at least try it.
My son Keyden, loves his ATA family. The instructors and staff are very knowledgeable and extremely polite to all parents. I highly recommend all parents to sign your child up, as this is the best thing I have done for my son. It teaches team work, commitment and communicating effectively. Keep up the great work McDonough ATA!!!
My kids LOVE ATA! The moment my daughter met Ms. Piper at she said "I want to do this mommy!", and her enthusiasm has continued to grow over time. The after-school program and summer camps are the BEST decision we have ever made. My kids have shown tremendous growth in self confidence, respect, responsibility and accountability. The life skills learned are invaluable, and the friendships made will last a life time! The instructors at ATA are awesome! Their passion for martial arts, teaching, and their students is truly amazing! They have become more like family throughout our time at ATA. We love ATA!
We have been part of the ATA family for about 5 yrs now. We are in awe of the fantastic growth we've seen over the years. The staff is wonderful - they are attentive, they listen and they REALLY care about the students and families.
We started Michael at McDonough ATA about 6 months ago and it has been a excellent experience. I cant say enough about the staff...Ms Piper, Mr Gilmere, Ms Johnson, Ms Cooper....everyone there is wonderful. They make it fun for the kids while still making it a teaching experience too. They also make it fun for us parents to watch as well. Its money well spent to help reinforce our sons sense of self-worth, self-esteem and keeping him physically active. MCD ATA rawks!
My daughter has been taking classes for several months and we continue to be impressed with the entire staff. The instructors are amazing with the kids. My daughter is learning so much more than just different moves, she is learning respect, discipline, and self confidence.
My son has been taking classes here for over month. I absolutely love the instructors relationship with the students. They take time to know and learn each students individual needs. The facility doesn't just teach self defense. They teach self esteem, morals, life skills. This was the best decision I could've made for my son. McDonough ATA is a training for upstanding citizens.
This is my son's first year at ATA. When we started we were just looking to keep him active while waiting for spring baseball to start. Well needless to say he loves it and now Mom has to juggle the two and anything else with ATA. LOL. Thanks for making him Happy!
I read the your reply and let me say your information was false...I never stepped on the mat and never stepped to anyone for a confrontation...it would have been cool to simply accept a mistake was made instead of trying to make me out to be some psycho, people make mistakes and I accepted it was a mistake and was told he would get his belt next class. Before the next class he was kicked out, I never made anyone feel unsafe and that's just a ridiculous lie. And as I said before this happened not once but both times he attended, it's easy to rectify mistakes but when you don't accept any fault that's the problem. I had no personal issue with the staff but it seems you need to make me out to be the bad guy ok.
I was kicked out of this school, I wasn't a student my son was. When the pandemic hit he stopped going for awhile. He came back last year, when it was time for him to receive his belt he was very excited he came to class a watched as every one got there belts and he clapped for them, his name was never called...I came in and attempted to explain to the person at the desk and he told me there wasn't anything he could do...class was over and as I explained to the staff what Happend they apologized and told me he would get it on the next class. My son was almost in tears...Now back up this same thing happened when he was attending before...yes this was the second time. Before his next class they sent an email saying my son could no longer attend because i had upset the class and scared the kids and all the parents and staff...I never yelled, no one knew what was going on until the class was over and it was explained to the staff...no kids or parents were ever harmed LOL..yet I was labeled the angry dangerous black man who's kid wasn't welcome...anyway he attends the Taekwondo Center in McDonough, he's a yellow belt now he loves it the staff is friendly and professional he gets noticed and rewarded like he should, and they get a lot of kids for here that come over to the Taekwondo Center in McDonough. Just so you know!
My experience was horrible today. I’ve never been so humiliated in my entire life. My son has Autism and they specifically
told me on the phone last week before paying my money that they work with kids with special needs. Well when I got there I was rushed in. Not treated well at at all. No one came to my aid or anything. My Feelings are so hurt it’s like no one wants to take any time up with a child like mine. Very misleading and disgusted. You all must be grateful to have normal children.
The older heavy set instructor with the bad attitude had the nerve to take my child privately without my consent and spoke with him and another staff member questioning him and called dept of children services on my family about a gun being in the house!! Umm… yes when I leave work and go to work I have to carry my weapon along with wearing a uniform!! How about calling the parents before calling and setting open case?? Then when questioned she lied we had her her on speaker giving several different reasons and causes for the call stating. It’s protocol? Scary. Then I asked to speak with the owner and she said “ their only gonna send you back to speak with me” when I spoke with others regarding the head instructor it comes down to shameful that she personally is immorally prejudice sad sad
Unfortunately my child will no longer continue lessons due to the lead instructor discriminating against my child’s disability. It saddens me that my child is no longer able to attend due to the false allegations & reports that the instructor has made regarding my child’s behavior without taking into account my child’s disadvantages from ASD. I was assured that this facility was able to accommodate my child’s needs, but in return to have the instructor go as far as filing a false report to authorities for child abuse solely off of my child’s behavior & misinterpreting my child’s responses even after my child openly admitted to joking. Which my child is not able to fully comprehend the severity of making a joke that would be considered serious. Furthermore, I was told by the instructor that she does not believe that it is "normal" for a child with ASD to lash out in such a manner. As if it’s abnormal for a child with autism to behave or act a certain way. In my opinion the instructor including staff members had no prior knowledge or experience in dealing with children on the spectrum. I was unknowingly misled by their claims to be able to accommodate to my child that struggles from this disorder.
Rather than taking my child’s behavior as a sign & symptom of ASD, she then continues to insinuate that my child’s behavior is due to child abuse to fit her narrative of how an abused child’s behavior would be due to her experience and expertise. Mind you that we have attended this facility for months & my child has never showed signs of physical abuse during the duration of my child’s attendance at ATA which has also been FALSELY reported. It’s unfortunate that such harsh & discriminatory actions had to take place without considering approaching the situation in a more civil matter given the circumstances. I am in complete disbelief & blindsided by this situation that I couldn’t fathom what would make someone resort to such abhorrent actions. In addition, I will be pursuing this situation legally to conduct an open investigation on the false reports.
Instructors are nice enough but you really are paying for nothing and everything is a money grab. When I first started we paid the 5 classes for $55 deal. When we came in for the info session, I found out another student used a Groupon that was still available online for 10 classes around the same price, but the lady wouldn't let us use it and my child hadn't even started yet! My 7 year old went for 6 months and never sparred, yet one of the stripes she earned on her belt was for sparring. Every time she leveled up in belt she had to pay $60+ for testing which wasn't disclosed when we signed up. If you don't attend enough classes to "qualify" for testing you have to pay for private lessons to catch up. There is ALWAYS something to purchase, new gear, holiday party attendance, t-shirts. And you can ONLY wear their t-shirts if you don't have on the top part of your uniform. Classes are short and there's barely enough time for them to learn anything. I can honestly say my child didn't learn a single thing here and within 2 months of removing her and placing her into jui jitsu, she learned so much and spars every single day.
This is a very racial biases place. my son took classes here for 3 yrs and just as he was about to get his last belt they kicked him out because I would not pay for extra classes. They then said he can only take 2 class a wee and i had to pay for more lesson. which was never the case for the 3 yrs. every student was able take as many class as then needed in a week. then they changed the rules on me. With no change in contract. Then when I told them to stop pressuring my son and confronting him about me paying for extra classes. The last week he was there they sent him home stated that he could not take more then two class. when I told them that this was discrimination the quickly withdrew my son from the program. But they did not charge me for the last month. I talking to a lawyer about filing a discrimination law suit against this location. please be mindful that just because some says something to you kindly does not me they are not hateful. This is the SOUTH "Souther hospitality" . smile while they stab you in the heart. In all my son was very disappointed to know that people are like that and that they would change on him like that. also the fact that he homeschool and this was one of the things he was looking forward to accomplishing. but I guess because he is young and Black. it did not matter to them. They just wanted my money. Single mother of Two. ]Just know ATA.. your true colors are showing .. you too will close down soon.
To the OWN that states False statement below:
as you see below the owner is laying about communicating with me for 7 weeks. I have phone records as well as proof that My son has attend class more than 3 time in a week. I have a witness for court my driver and your attendance sheet will prove my case. please do not lie about what you have done to my son and me. trying to get money out of me. is not right.
We have be traveling for the full three yrs taking 6 weeks off at a time. and my son was able to make his belt at that timewithout me having to pay for extra lesson so what him or her the owner is stating below is not facts. My son have attended class up to 4 time a week without me having to pay for extra classes. explain that. and the fact that other students in you class is welling to testify that they go more than 3 time a week.

My Son participated in the after school program last year. Then in March of this year i was pushed into signing a contract for after school care for the following school year 6 months in advanced, which i though was rediculous considering you dont know how your schedule can change. Anyhow for personal reasons i was not able to continue the after school program with my son due to logistics, but i told them he could attend a regular evening class one a week. I notified them over a week in advance of the start date. Well their reaction was incompassionate and cold because they were upset with me canceling his after school care contract... yes they make you sign a 9 month contract, six months in advanced. They even charged me for the first week he didnt participate in without apology. Then they refused to allow him to participate in any other karate program there, which was a huge dissapoinment for him. I could understand if they were upset with me but to not allow my kid to participate in a program he worked hard to get his belts in is immoral.
There are a few instructors who are genuine in their instruction for martial arts, there are also, unfortunately, instructors who are just out to make more money, they say words like "respect" and "Self discipline" but they have none. WAYYYY over priced! very much a scam... I wish we could get our money back :(
