Outstanding gym! The owners were intentional about everything in the gym, and it shows. Having trained martial arts at several gyms, this experience was second to none. Experience: The environment is incredibly welcoming. From high level black belts to new students everyone is there to learn, improve, and help the other members. Classes cover a wide range of material from fundamental tactics to advanced techniques, and Mr. J's leg lock class. Teaching: The instructors are all experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled at breaking down techniques at all levels. Lessons include demonstration, drilling, and some live situational rolling. Gym: Everything is well maintained and clean. The locker rooms are spacious and have showers. There's also a full gym with equipment for a wide variety of training. Overall: This gym covers everything. The only thing better than the great facilities and instruction is the people that run the facility and it's members.

If you are looking for a gym that feels like a family you have come to the right place! The coaching staff , team, and families involved in Lōkahi are some of the most genuinely kind and loving people you could ever meet. I have made life long friendships here, I found my career because of Lōkahi! The curriculum is well rounded and our coaches have each student in mind while instructing classes. Each week Lōkahi is open to the community no matter what gym, color, age, experience, everyone is welcome to come watch and participate it’s very cool! Every weekend is full! The amount of mat space is also unreal! As a student I’d like to thank each and every member for their support, encouragement, and dedication. Most importantly I would like to thank Coach Ryan he took in a prideful young dumb kid who thought he could out muscle and out grit everyone and showed me how combat sports are truly to be treated with dignity and an emphasis on technique Lōkahi is truly Ohana. MAHALOS FOREVER 🤙🏽❤️

Awesome gym with a great energy and atmosphere! Really felt welcomed right away by everybody I met instantly. Learned alot in the short time I was able to stop in, even in the advanced classes they where able to break it down in a way that even a child could understand some of the most complex transitions. Would recommend this gym to anybody visiting or living in Omaha, and definitely will be back some day!

I travel quite a bit for work, so I get to train at alot of different gyms/academies. This is one of the best I've been to 100%. The step by step teaching style was awesome. The fundamental class and advanced classes were great and something that was right up my alley. I give it a 10/10, highly recommend coming if your traveling or live in the area. You won't regret it. Thank you guys.

If you want to test yourself as a human being and are looking for a challenge, Lōkahi is the way to go. As a college athlete looking for a challenge, JiuJitsu has been an incredible avenue to better myself. The instructor staff is welcoming, intelligent, and motivated. The people who train at Lōkahi are great too. Whether you’re young, old, inexperienced or experienced the staff at Lōkahi will guide you and teach you things that are applicable to your life. I couldn’t speak higher of my experience at Lōkahi!

I've trained at several other gyms and Lokahi is at the top of the list in regards to quality of instruction, cleanliness on the mats and bathrooms, friendliness of instructors and training partners, variety in schedule, and overall gym culture. It's been a very enjoyable experience since joining a few months ago.

I had no prior combat sports experience to starting the Foundations class at Lōkahi, but after one or two classes I was hooked. If you're like me and want to get into the sport without prior experience, I'd recommend coming in to try out a class! They work hard to create a welcoming environment for newbies to learn.

I have been to Open Mat a couple times now to check out the gym. Ryan was very welcoming and helpful. Because I am new to the sport, I am not familiar with the technique that goes into jiu jitsu, and Ryan gave me some simplified cues that made a huge difference. Also, the individuals that have attended both days are all very nice people. The gym and bathroom are both very clean. They offer a great lifting area in the back with rogue equipment and some turf. I love the plants up front as well. I really enjoy the facility. Looking forward to attending more often!

This is the nicest gym I have been to in my 15 years of BJJ. Plenty of room to roll, the mats were clean and comfortable, the staff was welcoming, the members were friendly and great to roll with. I can't say enough great things about Lokahi! From the moment I stepped onto the mat, I felt welcomed and supported by both the instructors and fellow students. The coaching staff is incredibly knowledgeable, with each instructor bringing their unique expertise and passion for jiu jitsu. They provide clear and concise instruction, making even complex techniques easy to understand. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging, which creates the perfect environment for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. I've noticed significant improvements in my skills and confidence since joining, and I love the sense of community that exists here. The classes are well-structured, catering to various skill levels and focusing on both technique and sparring, ensuring that you get a balanced experience. Plus, the facility is clean, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. If you're looking for a place to learn jiu jitsu, whether for self-defense, fitness, or competition, Lokahi Jiu-Jitsu collective is the place to be! I highly recommend it to anyone interested in BJJ!

Lots of reasons to give this gym 5/5. To start, it’s very spacious, clean, and the equipment are in pristine condition. The coaches are patient, understanding, approachable, and very talented. You don’t always get that combination at other gyms so it’s a breath of fresh air to find it here. If you’re lookin to up your jujitsu training, Lokahi is perfect for you. The warm ups are insane, and the drills are even better. You know when you’re at a good gym when the very students take the initiative and clean up the gym after practice. All of that without being asked to. They gym owners always do events for us and it’s just a nice way to get to know each other and feel like a family. They have open mat available for anyone from any gym to train for FREE every Sunday. You won’t find that anywhere else. I think it speaks volume about how welcoming they are to the entire jujitsu community without having any rivalry over other gyms. Lastly, there is opportunity for advancement in the gym. Your skills and effort don’t go unnoticed. The coaches give students the opportunity to coach classes. They have ran them effectively, even when the main coaches have been out of the gym. It’s a lot of responsibility, but no one seems to mind since again, theres a strong family bond there. New comers integrate easily too, so it’s not like you’re ever left out. Definitely check it out!

Great place with awesome instructors, I came in as a complete beginner and felt very welcomed. The other students are eager to help teach, and definitely create an atmosphere for learning and safety. Despite never having been to any sort of martial arts gym, I felt like I was able to jump right in. Coach Ryan is amazing and will work with you to make sure you’re learning and progressing. Overall, a fantastic place with outstanding people. Highly recommend!

It’s not often you find a jiujitsu gym that’s a whole facility complete with locker rooms, clean showers, and a sick weight lifting area (via The Lab). More importantly, everyone is kind, instructors are detail oriented, and the atmosphere is excellent. I’ve trained at many gyms across the nation, and Lokahi is at the top of the list for its culture, facility amenities, and impeccable aesthetic. Stick around long enough and not only will your jiujitsu improve, but Coach Ryan might snag awesome pictures of you too 🙃

Lokahi is by far the best Jiu Jitsu gym in Omaha. It is extremely hard to find a place that teaches advanced technique while also maintaining a fun culture, but that is exactly what Lokahi is marked by! There is a variety of classes offered for people from any skill level! It is evident that the instructors of this gym have a genuine love for each person that steps on the mats, and that is clear by the way they encourage and challenge all of their students. You will never want to go to another gym after coming here!!

I had a great experience dropping in for some classes at Lōkahi Jiu-Jitsu while in Omaha. Whether you reside in the area or are looking to get some time on the mats while away from home, you will surely not be dissapointed paying them a visit. The head instructor, Ryan Yamada, was very welcoming from the moment I reached out. His instruction is detailed and his students reflect his positivity and enthusiasm towards Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I have been training BJJ for almost a decade and if I had to build the ideal facility this would be it for many reasons. 1. The facility was built from the ground up by jiujitsu enthusiasts for all skill levels to enjoy. There are showers and plenty of mat space for all to enjoy. Plus, they have partnered with The Lab to provide a one stop shop to get a pump and sharpen one's skills on the mat. 2. The location is easy to get to (close proximity to the major highway) and there is enough parking for a small army to assemble for morning and evening classes. 3. The coaching is world class! Each coach takes their time to expand on the small details that make a world of difference. The coaches are attentive and provide a learning environment where questions are welcomed not shunned. 4. The environment: This is the best part. When you walk in you become family. Everyone there is more than willing to ensure you have the best possible experience, while guiding you along in your journey. I found the best training partners here at Lokahi!

I may live in Colorado but whenever I am in Omaha, Lōkahi is my home! I have been training with professor Yamada and Campbell almost since the start of my jiu jitsu journey and have followed them in Omaha. I am beyond thrilled for them to have their own space in which they can institute their own means and methods for training! Every time I train Lōkahi, I walk away a more complete practitioner and always learn something new! No matter where you are in your jiu jitsu journey, Lōkahi has the practitioners and the instructors to amp up your game and help you reach that next level! Everyone is super accommodating and welcoming and always make me feel right at home whenever I train there! I cannot recommend Lōkahi highly enough! Check them out, you wont regret it!!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this jiu jitsu gym, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The facility itself is beautiful and impeccably clean, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment from the moment you step inside. The people here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. As someone who is older (I’m over 45) I was initially a bit intimidated, but that feeling quickly vanished. The presence of female practitioners also contributed to a sense of inclusivity and safety, making the experience even more enjoyable. Professor Nolan is fantastic. He brings a great vibe to the class, making learning both effective and fun. His teaching style is approachable and encouraging, which is perfect for practitioners of all levels. Jiu-jitsu paired with the right culture becomes addictive. Lokahi offers a great culture and quality teaching that makes you want to attend as many classes as your schedule permits. Whether you attend a 6am class like myself or an evening class, you will feel welcomed and not fear injury. The training partners are great people on and off the mats. Also, if competitions are not your thing and just want to treat this as a hobby, you are in the right spot because you will not be pressured to do competitions. I started my Jiu-Jitsu journey almost 15 years ago and have traveled the country training and coaching. I can confidently assert that Lokahi is a direct reflection of its high-quality instructors and community. Additionally, Lokahi is a gym saturated with highly competent and qualified instructors who draw from various backgrounds and training methodologies, enabling anyone, regardless of their skill level, to grow into better Jiu-Jitsu practitioners and people. Lastly, you won't find a gym with a comparable facility in the area.

I have trained with Coach Samantha, even competed against her! It's wonderful to see her thriving in a healthy gym environment. She’s an incredible addition to this gym. Excited to plan a visit!

I have been training with Ryan and Nolan, the two head instructors, for three years now. Excellent instruction and a great community atmosphere is what you can expect. And you will get top notch instruction and training in gi and no gi. The Lokahi facility is the nicest jiu jitsu facility I have been in during my 8 years of training. I highly recommend!

I train out of Ohio but I know the people at this gym are extremely caring about their training partners and making Jiu Jitsu fun. Hopefully I can get out there soon.

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Very knowledgeable and experienced instructors, welcoming community, fun atmosphere, clean and super nice facility. Everyone at the gym cares about my progress and pushes me. Whether you’re new to Jiu Jitsu or experienced, Lōkahi is where you need to be training.
