Woodies Adventures
Started my jiu-jitsu journey 4 months ago at 53. Checked out a couple of other places and after the OABJJ visit and a referral from my son, decided on OABJJ. The training is hard and rewarding. The culture at OABJJ can't be beat. The professor's, coaches, and other students are amazing. You'd be wise to consider OABJJ for your jiu-jitsu instruction.

I can't say enough positive things about OABJJ! The instruction is top notch. There's great camaraderie amongst the students. The professor Denis Bacon is not only a great teacher, but a stand up guy. The gym has a thriving youth attendance. Whole families even come to train. I feel fortunate to be apart of this gym and encourage you to come and check us out.

I was looking for a place where I could try Jiu Jitsu for the first time at nearly 35 years old with my 15 year old son with out either of us getting hurt by those more experienced than us. I am happy to report this is that place. We are learning at such an incredible rate do to classes being taught by some of the best black belts Omaha has to offer. Also we go home in one piece every night because there are no egos here. The owner Dennis has built a real one team atmosphere. We are all there to learn and better one another. It’s been about 4 months now and my son and I plan on being here as long as they let us keep coming.

In 2016 I decided that I was going to try Jiu jitsu. I talk to a few people that had been training for awhile. I gave a few gyms a try around Omaha and one in Council Bluffs. None of them felt right. After a few classes here and there a buddy told my that one of the instructors at the gym he trains at is opening a new gym. I waited a month for the new gym to open. I am so thankful that Dennis opened his gym. I have been a student from day one and will be a student until the day comes when I can no longer train. Dennis runs the best school in Omaha. This is not my opinion, this is proven. This school products champions. The best part about the school is the kids program. I love seeing the kids grow, not just in their grappling but as people. If you are looking to just get in better shape or looking to compete you won't find a better group of people or a better school in Omaha.

This place changed my life in every great way. Not only has this gym changed my life physically, but this place did magic for my mental confidence in life. The best part about this gym is the people in it. Everyone is extremely selfless and willing to help you get better. Selflessness is not the only trait to consider though, these people are extremely friendly, and I now consider them some of my best friends. Now being there for a good portion of the year, I’m starting to consider these people family, the bonds you will make while training here, are with people you will keep around. On top of that, Dennis one of the greatest people you will meet, he is extremely good at what he does, and how he does it. The professionalism of the instruction by my professor Dennis is un-matched in Omaha. All in all, if you are considering starting jiu jitsu, this is the place to be. I highly recommend you come and stop by, you will be met with open arms.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at OABJJ! As newcomers to BJJ, I didn’t quite know what to expect but Professor Dennis immediately welcomed in our family. My 2 (soon to be 3) boys and I have spent the last year training 4-5 x/week and enjoy every minute of it. Not only is OABJJ is a great place for kids and family but Professor Dennis also methodically prepares adults for competition and provides the tools and training necessary if you want to take your BJJ game to the next level. I look forward to every opportunity to train. The gym provides a family like atmosphere and a community of other BJJ players that are always willing to help out others. Thank you Professor!!

We found the Omaha Academy of Brazilian Jujitsu over a year ago and couldn’t have found a better second home. Professor Dennis is an amazing coach who has true passion for these kids and jujitsu. The community at OABJJ has been such a blessing for our family. We have met so many great families who are now friends. We are so fortunate to have found this gym when we moved to Omaha! My son and daughter started rolling a couple years ago and it's been amazing for them. Physically and mentally they have grown so much in that time. They have competed and won several tournaments. Now our whole family goes to classes. This is so much more than just a place to train. This has become a family away from home. If you want to learn for fun or become a champion this is the spot!

This is the best gym in Omaha. Our entire family has been going here for years without a complaint from us. Professor Dennis is a true professional. Jiu Jitsu is a part of our lives now bc of the way he runs it. He cares so much about every person who enters his gym. This place is a family. Our kids consider him family, as do we. He takes the time to get to know each & everyone and somehow knows how to teach in a way that benefits that individual. It is truly remarkable. Last year we went on a search for the best BJJ gym in Omaha for our kids. This included research online, visiting the gyms and watching the classes to going to competition and witnessing the different teams and its coaches in action. OABJJ stood out from all the rest. Hands down!! Professor Dennis is one of a kind. He truly cares about his students and wants the best for them. It shows in everything he does. Incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in the sport. I’m a huge fan of the sport and have been for most of my life. Going to the gym and watching Dennis coach the kids is the best part of my day. From the coaches to the students to the parents, everyone is one big family! There is something really special about this gym. We are grateful for professor Dennis!

This is unique, as if you are looking to get your children into this sport they will be trained by a high-level black belt. * If you are just looking to get into BJJ as an adult, this is the place for you. My kids ages 10&7 love OABJJ. They have been at his academy now for almost 3 years. They enjoy Dennis and his patience with them and the other kids. I myself do not participate but i thoroughly enjoy watching my kids. Thank you Dennis for all the hard work you do for our kids.

This is beyond the best place if you are looking for jiu jitsu! Not only is it like a family everyone truly cares for each other. The dedication, fun, and determination in both kids and adults is unlike anything I have ever experienced. If it wasn’t for Professor Dennis I wouldn’t have ever tried it myself and I was the last one of my family to join. Now we get to experience jiu jitsu together with amazing people and an amazing professor! There is nothing better than this place it is no longer a jiu jitsu academy, but our family. I've been training with OABJJ for two years. We're all Jiu-Jitsu, 6 days/week. We train for competition. Our style is simple and out training is repetitive. There are places in town where the training is less focused and intense, but I appreciate the opportunity to be pushed to achieve at the highest levels. The flipside of that coin is that everyone is supportive. I've struggled, but I never felt like I struggled alone. It's nice to win gold medals, especially when you started at the bottom, getting your butt kicked. But the calm, the confidence, the relationships you build here. I really feel like I lucked out falling in with Dennis and the OABJJ crew.

Military family stationed at Offutt. We drive 45 minutes one way to take part in this family, and i do mean family. It's a great group of people, not to mention the instructor is highly skilled and works extremely well with kids, in a sport that inherently pushes people out of their comfort zones. Highly recommended.

This has been a great place to learn BJJ from scratch. Dennis is motivating, enjoyable to be around, and encouraging. The gym has quickly become a second home for our family. This gym competes at the top level at tournaments, however a competitors mentality and outlook is not required to be accepted and welcomed at this gym. I recommend it for both new and experienced practitioners.

Dennis is a great coach. He has a passion for what he teaches and his students. He takes the time to really get to know every one, tailoring things to fit each individual. Dennis is approachable and easy to talk to. He takes the time to listen to your questions and ideas, providing great feedback. He truly wants you to succeed. Somehow there is great mix of a family atmosphere as well as a strong competitive atmosphere. Many of the kids have their parents training as well. Everyone gets along and helps each other out. It is wonderful to have a place to train that isn’t harshly formal yet still provides intense and effective training. On top of all that, Dennis is a beast when it comes to BJJ.

Small Guy Promotions
I'm a 10th Planet Omaha student and our sensei went to instruct a class while their sensei was out of town. A handful of us from our dojo went to the class. We were welcomed with open guards! Everyone there was great and it was a fun time. Glad for the experience.
