I love this gym, they have continually worked with me to find the ways I needed to meet my fitness goals. The staff is all incredibly kind and amazing. Especially coach VaVa, Faith and Josh. This gym feels like a family and they really care about every single individual in their gym. I recommend checking this gym out if you are looking for a place to get in shape and have real people who care about helping you reach your goals! They also offer amazing Jiu jitsu classes with a lot of talent and all levels from white to black belts as well as kick boxing and incredible personal training weight lifting sessions you can join where they help you learn how to lift properly to prevent injury. My fiancé and I just completed 16 weeks of personal training with Faith at BodyFit and we are super grateful for the experience. We wanted to start with personal training because neither of us had ever lifted weights before or really been in a gym much. Faith did an incredible job of making us feel comfortable in the gym from the first session. Each session was a fun but focused hour built around our core lifts & complemented with accessory and HIIT work that was specifically tailored to each of our goals. Faith did a great job of keeping us both challenged and engaged, even with our differences in strength & fitness. She has a deep knowledge of lifting technique and even helped each of us work through pain we experienced early on in training, showing us how to adjust and finetune so we would continue pressing without discomfort. Thanks to her guidance, we were able to train consistently and pain-free. We’ve made significant progress in our overall strength and fitness & feel more confident in the gym than ever! We would highly recommend Faith for anyone interested in personal training to help progress their fitness goals.

I've been coming to this gym for over 3 years now, and it's been one of the best decisions of my life. I had never even been in a gym before and had no idea where to start. I didn't have enough money to get a trainer, so I figured I'd go to the group sessions for a couple of months to learn the technique then switch to a lower tier option and lift on my own. I never could have imagined how much I would have changed from what I've learned about consistency, hard work, and communication. Now, I'm on a path I look forward to every day. I'm starting my own business, and I've stopped veiwing myself so poorly. Although the work must be done by yourself and for yourself, I can't imagine where I'd be without the help and support I've found here.

Bodyfit is the best gym around! The coaches here have helped me gain 15lbs of muscle with their weightlifting program and diet planning since I've started earlier this year. I feel amazing and am in the best shape of my life! Not only are the trainers knowledgeable and supportive, but the community here is also super motivating. While visiting family in KC I was able to catch a few drop-in classes and what a great experience. The coach, David aka Vava, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. In just one session I recieved more 1-on-1 attention than I would get in a month from my gym back in Dallas. I've been going to Bodyfit KC for a little over a year now and all I can say is that this place is truly special. I was a bit hesitant to join when I first checked it out because the price points that were given to me seemed a little high but when I got to see how much time, dedication, and genuine care goes into the classes and training from ALL of the coaches, that worry became an after-thought. Each coach there brings a wide range of different skills and traits to the table and all of them are professional, extremely knowledgeable and very dedicated to the success of the members. If you are looking for a place to learn new skills whether it be how to properly and safely lift weights, learn a martial art, or just feel that you are in a safe space to get in better shape and feel more confident, this gym is the place to go. Yes, it might be a bit more expensive then your Planet Fitness down the street but when you realize you can't put a price on health AND knowledge, you'll see this as an investment and one that is well worth it.

When I first moved to Kansas City I hardly knew anyone and had never been very serious about exercise, but I had heard about this thing called jiu jitsu and figured I'd look for a place close to my apartment to try it out. Fast forward my 2.5 years in KC and Bodyfit taught me so much about determination, working through frustration, and continuing on when all you want to do is quit. Whether you are a world champion blackbelt or have never worn a gi, every member and instructor is respectful, patient, and motivating. If martial arts aren't your thing, all of that can also be found in their other classes. Now that I have since left KC, Bodyfit is one of the things I miss most about it. Looking for a new gym and only finding large corporate options makes me realize what a gem Bodyfit is. Even in the 2.5 years I was a member they made significant improvements to the facilities and programming, and have done even more since I moved away. I don't think I have ever written a review for any business but David and all the rest deserve every ounce of praise. Their Twitter bio says it best, "just a bunch of friends who like to work out together."

This gym is a community, home to a wide variety of members and coaches. You have a TON of options: strength training, conditioning, gymnastics, BJJ, kickboxing, Olympic weightlifting. The coaches are all knowledgeable about their classes. It’s awesome. It’s also a supportive, inclusive place. People here care—and not just about your fitness, but your health and self-confidence. There are so many things to love about Bodyfit, but the thing I love most is that it is so inclusive and thoughtful. They are a green gym, the trainers ask how you have been and want you to come to their classes. They will push you to be better both physically and mentally. I moved to KC 8 months ago with fitness goals and Bodyfit was the first and last gym I visited. It's small (though they just expanded 🙌🏾) so you don't feel like you're just one of many. You're part of a family. What I needed was a plan and some accountability and I got heaps of that! VaVa is the owner and one of a few (great!) trainers and he genuinely cares about your progress and health. He called me out when I needed it and cheered me on when I needed that. I made some of my first friends and KC memories at this gym. I never felt unsafe, leered at or uncomfortable as a black woman. And it's the cleanest gym I've ever been too. Adapting to COVID was no problem for them. Weight training was what intially brought me there but everything else about the gym is what made me stay. If you're looking for a new gym home, come through and try a class. You won't be disappointed.

This is one of many jiu jitsu gyms that I have attended and it is easily the best bang for your buck available in the KC area. Not only do they have jj but the owner David (Vava) is a fitness genius. Bodyfit is the fourth gym I’ve been a part of and by far my favorite. I come mainly for the BJJ program, but have always experienced high quality instruction when I’ve gone to other classes too. Other than top-notch instruction and many forms of training to choose from, the main thing that Bodyfit has that other places lack is a strong sense of community. I have been member at Bodyfit for just over a year, and I can say without a doubt that I have never enjoyed a gym more than Bodyfit. They do an incredible job creating a family like environment, to the point my wife and kids are also members. I attend mostly for BJJ, and the level of training and teaching is outstanding. Bodyfit is practically my second home. David, the owner, and the rest of the staff are not only a ton of fun to work with, but all incredibly knowledgeable! I trained at Bodyfit for my last year living in KC and only regretted not joining sooner. I already had access to some pretty nice gyms for free through my work, but I still chose to spend money on a membership here as my primary gym because I found the value to be worth it. It is a fully equipped gym with everything you need to get stronger/fitter; the trainers know what they're doing and know how to tailor your programming and nutrition towards whatever specific training goals you might have; and the selection of classes offered is impressively broad. There are not many places out there that offer classes for strength training, conditioning, mixed martial arts, gymnastics, and olympic lifting all under one roof, and there is not a lot of quality, affordable guidance on how to pursue multiple goals simultaneously, but you will find that here. As an added bonus, the people are nice, and even if you prefer working out independently, it's a fun community and you'll find encouragement when you need it. Whether you're trying to learn a new skill set, improve your overall fitness, or take your training to the next level, I fully recommend giving Bodyfit a shot.

Wonderful, friendly trainers that are extremely knowledgeable. The sessions push me way way farther than I would do myself. At least once during each workout I’m either so exhausted, or in so much pain, that I think ‘why did I come here’, but then I remember that extra burn is why I’m here (and the extra late night cookies). So if you are looking for a kick a$$ workout with tailored instructions and a dash of accountability you should definitely check this place out. My goto place to workout when I’m in town for work. Vava always has challenging workouts with a really fun group of people. I also recommend the weightlifting class. Good coaching that has been helpful in my stops there. Will continue to drop in while I’m in town!

As an individual with no previous experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Kickboxing, I was looking for a gym in which I could learn proper technique from seasoned trainers, as well as continue my personal fitness journey. I could not imagine a better fit for me than Bodyfit KC. Whether you are looking to simply get good exercise, or to learn proper technique and form (BJJ, kickboxing, weight lifting/circuit training, yoga) the trainers here will push you, and get the best out of you everyday. Every class feels like a personal training session. This is also the only local gym that I am aware of that offers a wide variety of classes early in the AM. So if you are having trouble making time in the evenings for exercise or training, they have 5:15am strength and conditioning classes, 7:00am BJJ and kickboxing classes... These guys never take a break. Could not recommend this gym more. Thanks guys, Cameron J. Batschke

Very fun and energetic trainers and staff who really want to see members succeed. The classes are always intense, tough, and even humorous. I’d recommend this gym to anyone who appreciates class based exercising and for those who live in the downtown area it’s great with lots of parking in the back. Make sure to bring your own water bottle. They also have open gym hours for any folks who want to workout solo.

Such a great gym to be a part of!! The Josh and David make you feel so comfortable and encouraged and this motivates you to do your best and keep coming back! They challenge you every day and care about what your personal goals are. Since I work right down the street it is also convenient that they offer Kickboxing and HIIT classes at noon Monday-Thursday. I'm so glad I decided to join and always tell the rest of my work friends they are missing out!

I love going to Bodyfit! I take classes during the lunch hour HIIT and Kickboxing both David and Josh are amazing trainers. I am always surprised that they know my name and have since the first time I walked in. They take the time to know you and your goals which is totally different than any other gym I have been too. I have been going to Body fit for almost a year now and still love it. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the variety of classes Bodyfit, Yoga, Ju Jitsu, Movement, Bare,.. the list goes on. All the trainers are excellent in working with all levels of your fitness, from beginner to advanced. The coaches are personable , that can lead you to greatness and I can see that they continually try to improve fitness work outs. It never gets stale nor is there a dull moment at Body fit KC!

I drive 35 minutes just to come to this special gym! It is more like a family than a gym. I attend mainly for the morning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, since that is my main form of workout. David Littlewood and his team are such intelligent and articulate teachers that you will never want the class to end! They have many years of experience and competition and teach with such a level of detail that we drill it and drill it until we get it perfect. Not only do they make sure that you get it perfect, but they also run class in a manor that keeps you entertained and enjoying yourself the whole time. They make my Tuesdays and Thursdays start out on a great note! Thanks David and team!

This is not your standard gym, and it will change your mind on what you should expect. Personally, I was never great at pushing myself from start to end of my own workout. Like most people I would start strong and taper off as we went along. The trainers at Bodyfit are amazing at pushing an entire group of people thru a set that pushes you to your limits, and makes you believe you can do better. It’s not about the person next to you, it’s about the person you were yesterday. This is definitely a gym for people of all experience and fitness levels.

I have been at Bodyfit for almost a year now and I have only good things to say! It is different than any gym out there and provides an incredible workout every time no matter what fitness level you are coming in at. They have everything from weight and strength training, to mind and body classes, to kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. There really is something for everyone, and at Bodyfit, you should never be hesitant to try something new. The environment is amazing- no one is judging you but everyone is pushing you to work harder and be better. The trainers go out of their way to push you during workouts. They also provide nutritional advice, and help you reach whatever lifestyle goal you want to accomplish when you walk through the door. In my year at Bodyfit, I have seen big changes and have reached goals that I thought would take years to accomplish. This place is a hidden gem in Kansas City and has become somewhere I look forward to going day in and day out.

Bodyfit has everything you need! They offer Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Yoga, Barre Classes, Cardio Hip Hop, a movement focused class, as well as group training with weights and cardio development. The environment is amazing, there is no judgement, or snooty gym attitudes. Every single person I have ever worked out with here is supportive and friendly. The trainers go out of their way to get to know you and help you tailor your workouts to your needs! People of all skill levels should be comfortable attending as on any given day there will be someone who is brand new, and someone who is a seasoned vet. At Bodyfit safety is a priority. There are special classes that focus on lifting form, but still give attendees a great workout. Best gym I have been a member of. If you are looking for a community where you belong, with likeminded people to help you move towards your fitness goals, Bodyfit is the place for you!

Absolutely Amazing!!! I did not believe the 5 star rating walking into the gym but 2 sessions later I saw what the hype was about. There is no gym that I have been to that has gotten me in such good shape! I hate working out but David, the main trainer, goes above and beyond to help each person with their individual needs and goals. He does a wonderful job of blending the line of trainer and friend. He really wants you to push your boundaries and many days he waned me to reach my goal more than I did. Its easy to skip the gym but David is the type of guy who keeps bringing you back time and time again and keeps you going when you want to give up. Just to use myself as an example, day 1 I had never done a deadlift. Within 1.5 months I was maxing out at 325 lbs. If you want to really get your entire body in shape, and you have tried working out before but never saw the results you wanted (as I did at 3 different gyms at 3 different times in my life) then this gym is for you. Yes it may be a bit more expensive than a $10-20 gym membership at a normal gym but it is completely worth it as you see the results you want and you see them very quickly (if you put the effort). "Fitness is a journey, not a destination" Thank you David!!! (Seriously, I cannot explain in words what an awesome trainer and person he is!)

So I took my first step in 4 years in the gym today, and I couldn't be happier that I chose BodyFitKC. After several health issues to include cancer and joint fusion surgeries in both feet, I was extremely apprehensive about walking into a work out class where i didn't know anyone. However, it was an incredible experience!! The trainer, David, I think, was incredible! He was involved and attentive in making sure my technique an form were correct, but at the same time he did not make me feel "dumb" or "judged". It is very much so "at your pace" while in a group setting. The positive side of this is that you are still motivated by the people around you, but you don't feel ashamed or inadequate if you are at a different fitness level than them. The workout was rotation based. 4 exercises/movements(dumbell benchpress, burpee-he gave an alternate technique if needed, squats, and kettlebell lifts), with numerous rounds (round 1 we did 1 rep of each of the 4 movements, then round 2= 2 reps of each exercise, round 3=3 reps, and so on up to 10. Then to decrease back down 9 to 1. Even though I didn't even complete the workout(I made it up to round 8) I can certainly tell I've worked my tail off!!!! I legs and arms feel like jelly and it definitely helped to get my day started!! I cant wait to come back and take more classes(My next class will likely be a muscle soreness relief yoga class) and i will certainly post reviews of those as well.

A nice cozy interior, lots of weight machines and other amenities for weightlifters and a few mats for BJJ practice. Not really a place for battle-tested MA, but an okay place to work a sweat up with friends. Jay also offers to have people "sign waivers" so that he can fight any takers in a controlled space, when he perceives any affront to his image a "threat". So, if you get on his bad side, he'll invite you to find him.

I tried multiples times to ask about pricing plans via email and phone, but Bodyfit unfortunately would not give me a straight answer. They kept insisting that I come in person to give a high-pressure sales pitch. The lack of transparency about their gym schedule and pricing plans was a major off-put.
