Really great training environment and coaches. Supportive environment!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Excellent academy for both kids and adults to learn BJJ, Gi, and other martial arts. Professional coaches, a friendly atmosphere, and great training for building confidence and discipline.
Dayman and the team are awesome! Their knowledge, coaching skills and range of classes is excellent. I’ve recommended friends and trained there lots. I won my British title whilst here. The best
Zilla has been a fantastic place for both me and my child to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. From day one, I felt immediately welcomed, not just as a student, but as part of a supportive and respectful community. As a woman, it can be daunting stepping onto the mats for the first time, but the coaches and students created a space where I felt comfortable and encouraged to learn. The coaching is top quality, technical, clear, and always focused on progression. Classes are well-structured with a great mix of technique, drilling, and live sparring. My child also trains at Zilla and absolutely loves it. The kids' classes offer a perfect balance between discipline and fun, helping build confidence, focus, and respect from an early age. The women's classes are another huge plus! They're a strong, friendly group and it’s a brilliant environment to train, learn, and grow in the sport. If you’re looking for a BJJ gym that’s family-friendly, welcoming, and truly passionate about martial arts, Zilla Training is the place to be.
Came here after a years training elsewhere and Dayman and his coaches are another level entirely. They focus on the tiniest details with your technique and drills, as Dayman says, it's the small details that matter and these habits are drilled in until they're perfect. The team are all friendly and the classes are full of people who have been training for years, so you get a real challenge when sparring. If you're looking to start martial arts or even improve, I can't recommend Dayman and his team enough. I've only been with them for 3 months but I've already seen a huge improvement personally in those 3 months!
Posted 2 years agoI first met Dayman in 2008-09. We trained at the same gym in Strood. It was clear he had special abilities for all aspects of MMA. He was an outstanding amateur and a very promising professional competitor. I moved away to the West Midlands in 2012 until 2016. I didn't find a place with a good vibe. I began training with Dayman briefly in 2019 at Chatham and then when he moved to Maidstone I began in May 2021 I have been regularly. He has amazing teaching ability and makes the details of technique personal and useful. I am 49 years old, so the things that a 20 year old can do are different to my capabilities. I have the intention of training for many more years to come thanks to Dayman for making a fun place to train.
Dayman Lake and Zilla training to me is the best Mixed martial arts school in Kent. From the great Pupils all of which from top to bottom are patient helpful and above all else friendly to the excellent coaches on offer. Not many places do you get somewhere which covers all aspects with a cage inside the area. It is in a great location inside Ironworks gym which even has its own range of food and drink to hand to fuel you for your next class. If you have kids they can start early with the BJJ classes, there is nothing you can’t get from Zilla for your money. All in all if I had to pick a word to describe Zilla I’d say Team
Posted 4 years agoBest decision all year coming here- fantastic team who really push and support you. Whether you're looking to get fit, learn fighting technique from experienced coaches, or even compete in MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or boxing competitions, the high standards and camaraderie of this team will take you to new levels. Even if like me you're completely new to MMA/BJJ/boxing, Dayman and his coaching staff are great at adapting to your level so each and every session you learn something new and come away feeling pretty pumped with your progress! One of the best parts is the diversity in ages and backgrounds within the team- you meet brilliant people from all walks of life. Not to mention you're in for an awesome workout- I haven't slept so well in months! Zilla Training is based in Ironworks Gym in Maidstone; easily accessible and has full mats, an MMA cage, and equipment for all combat sports. Membership is great value, but pay as you go is also available if you're unsure on your schedule- at £10 for a packed 90-min class it's very good value. If you're interested, then definitely turn up for a trial lesson- it's free!
Been apart of the Zilla Training team for about 3 years now. Head Coach Dayman is everything you should be looking for if you’re interested in martial arts. Here at Zilla Training, D will put in the work for you if you put in the work for yourself too. Helping you become the best you, you can be. The squad is full of friendly faces, smiling and joking around but the atmosphere is unmatched. Everybody helps everybody improve and train for events for those who wish to compete. I couldn’t recommend Zilla Training more. The BEST team in Kent.
