Ervin is easily the most knowledgeable Judoka I’ve ever met. He has world class technique and an exceptional ability to explain that technique to those with lower level understanding. The level of Judo and BJJ in this gym is very high, and I would easily recommend Testudo to anyone as a home base for their training.

Amazing place to practice BJJ. Ervin is a great coach. The environment is friendly and inviting, but you will push yourself and see improvements. Would recommend for anyone in the area!

Excellent instruction and Leadership I had the pleasure of visiting Testudo while I was home visiting my folks. My brother had previously gone and highly recommended the gym. Ervin has created an environment that is welcoming to adults and kids of all levels while keeping the safety of his students a top priority. I thoroughly enjoyed the technical portions of class as he masterfully presents the techniques and takes the time and gives the attention to make sure students both understand an execute effectively. The atmosphere is enhanced by the members of the gym who are also very kind and welcoming. As my brother said, they roll hard and fair and I felt safe for every visit I made during the weeks I was there, important for anyone, especially 40+ hobbyists like myself. As a father and teacher, I really respect and enjoy how he works with the kids in his gym. The children I saw rolling were very impressive both technically and in character and clearly have a lot of fun and feel safe in the room. If I lived in the area I would happily send my children to this gym. Ervin is a first class instructor for both kids and adults. This is an excellent school for anyone looking for a gym in the area. Great BJJ and Judo gym with an overt and conspicuous emphasis on safety, cleanliness, community, learning, growth, and having a good time. Cannot recommend enough!

First Class BJJ While visiting my parents on a two week vacation I was welcomed by Erwin to his fantastic BJJ studio. I currently coach wrestling at Dream Art Nurnberg Germany and I am also learning BJJ from the ground up. From a coaches perspective I witnessed Erwin ability to teach conceptual BJJ and then drill down to exact coaching points for individuals that are children's age up to more senior grapplers. Erwin clearly recognizes the gap many gyms have in teaching takedowns and he easily teaches both throws and the best way to defend throws in his lessons. So if you need help on takedowns and want to develop your stand up game you have landed in the correct spot. from a student perspective Erwin help me understand what I should keep and let go as a former wrestler. Being over 50 I also never felt pressure to jump into rolls if I needed a break. The fellow students are a great group of people who roll hard and fairly. Erwin is also safety conscious by banning certain mat return techniques to protect his student's knees. A huge thanks to Erwin and the team a give the highest recommendation possible
