Have been coming here for years. Its an excellent gym. The team here is fantastic. Their trainers are awesome - Minh is one of the top kickboxing and muay thai coaches in ATL, and Chad is one of the best crossfit coaches I've ever seen do the job. Great community vibe. Very respectful environment while also trying to be encouraging of everyone achieving their fitness goals. Some folks even bring their dogs to hang out while they work out, which is a great bonus to the energy. Update - they are amazing with dogs. Roberto, who runs the jiu jitsu program, literally pulled a dog bed out of his office for my puppy so the little guy could sleep while I worked out. Such good people at this gym.

Imagine a D-1 weight training facility that also has the largest, cleanest BJJ mat you’ve ever seen in your life? That’s Team Octopus Midtown. You want Muay Thai training? They’ve got a forest of heavy bags. You want to learn BJJ? They’ve got a half dozen white belts to learn with you at the same pace. You want to roll with a Kaiju-sized competition purple belt? They’ve got plenty of those too. This place rules. And they have a shower facility with towel service.

Trained here for two years as a BJJ blue belt (only left because I moved out of Atlanta). This place is wonderful! The instructors teach very effective techniques and I grew a lot during my time here. Professor Traven especially puts a huge amount of time & effort into the program and you can tell he really cares. It is a deep pool and there are a lot of high-level people training here. Classes have an expectation that you do not skip rolls during sparring, which at first I had some trepidation about, but grew to really appreciate as it pushes you to perform and see how your technique fares when you are exhausted. Also now when I drop in at other gyms the students there are amazed at my cardio! The school also has a wonderful location, right along the beltline, and I loved biking to & from class every day for warmup & cooldown. Finally, people here are very nice. It has a good gym culture. Greatly recommend!

Coach Minh’s Muay Thai classes encourage an atmosphere of respect and learning together. Safety, and consideration for one’s training partner is always the top priority. I had no martial arts experience prior to beginning Muay Thai training at octopus. I’ve learned so much since starting, and am in the best shape of my life

Dropped in for a few BJJ classes while I was in town and had a great experience. Welcoming atmosphere, nice facility, and high level instruction. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
