Team Kalista’s BJJ has been a game changer and a life saver for me and my profession. My job is very physical and it requires me to be very confrontational. 99% of the time I am forced to put hands on people who often times don’t want to be placed in handcuffs. If you haven’t guessed it by now, I’m a police officer with the Hinesville Police Department, and more specifically a Star Corporal of the detectives division and team member of the Liberty County Swat Team. Team Kalista has given me a confidence beyond understanding. Professor Kalista took me under his wing and even taught me alternative ways to apprehend resistant suspects utilizing reasonable methods. Not only have his techniques prevented could be injuries to myself but also control techniques that are safer for the subjects as well. Professor Kalista makes training enjoyable and practical. Professor Kalista has an amazing group of loyal students. Vance Kalista, Daniel Rojas, and many others from the gym have also supplemented Professor Kalista’s teachings and refined my hands on capabilities. The team supports the youth and adults alike. It’s just a great training atmosphere when everyone accepts new comers from every background and embraces each other before and after class. This gym is the gem 💎 of Hinesville. Team Kalista has my six on and off the mats, and I am proud to be associated with Team Kalista. 5 ⭐️s plus many more if I could, 10/10 recommended.

Professor Kalista and Coach Vance are the definition of tough love. All three of my kiddos have trained at their gym and the discipline and love they received is priceless. The entire BJJ family at Team Kalista are welcoming and push each other to be the best version of themselves. I am grateful for Professor Kalista and what he has created in our small town. It is a place where I can rest assured my kiddos have strong and positive role models, who genuinely care about their well being and success, not only in BJJ, but in life.

My son has been going here for a while and absolutely loves it and I can actually tell the difference in his skills as he progresses. His coach is very patient and dedicated with all of the kids and takes his time ensuring each kid has mastered the new skill before moving on. I specifically like that they hold lots of no gi classes as well for real world application. Highly Recommend!

My son has autism and often is hesitant to try new things. But, kalista martial arts has changed that for him. He's learning so many skills in the short time he has been practicing here, he gets so excited to learn new skills and to go to practice. He's come so far out of his shell. He loves his Coach, Coach Lance who is phenomenal and patient with the kids. This is a great establishment to get your kids in. The gym is spacious and they offer so many times for kids practice. Highly recommend.

If you find yourself in Hinesville don’t miss out on this hidden gem!! When you look at the quality of training, no need to look further. I want to give a review from two perspectives, one as a parent who has his kids attend this amazing academy and as fellow jiujitsu athlete. Parents, if you’re looking for the right sport to get your kids involved, you can’t go wrong with Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ). The biggest problem that kids face today are different types of bullying. This sport will provide your kids the physical and mental aspect to defend themselves if the case ever arises. I had my kids going to pooler BJJ and realize that there was no growth in my kids BJJ skills. They were rarely tested and never developed a competitive mindset. They left pooler BJJ a plethora of times and mentioned, “we didn’t learn anything.” When I looked at Team Kalista it took one day for my kids to realize they learned more at Team Kalista in one day than they learned in 3 months in pooler BJJ. If you’re a parent that want your kid to do a sport to keep them moving and maybe have them away from devices, this is the place! If you want your kid to do a sport and excel and compete, this is the place! The quality of the training that Team Kalista provides will benefit your child/children regardless of their goal. My children have developed their skills tenfold compared to pooler BJJ in little time. Coach Vance, Coach Nicholas, Coach Danny and Coach Adam are there to work with your child/children and give them their undivided attention to ensure your kids are doing the techniques correctly. The instructors truly have a passion and a genuine interests in getting your children better. Still looking for a BJJ gym to enroll your kids? look no further!! As for the adults, I love that Team Kalista has a tailored class for your needs. Never done BJJ and need to learn the fundamentals? They have classes for that. Have any experience and want to progress in your BJJ journey? They have classes for that too. Want to practice without your Gi? They have classes for that too. No matter the goal, no matter what you want to progress in, Team Kalista has everything to offer!! Last but not least, you will feel as if you’re family. You will experience being part of a team. The people that make Team Kalista are a group of people from all walks of life and once you’re there, you’re family. I have personally experienced Professor Kalista and other instructors patiently working from the inexperienced to the experienced of the bunches with such detail teaching. To my service members, if you find yourself being stationed in Hinesville, this is THE place to train to either start your BJJ journey or to continue it. Man! I am so glad Professor Kaleam opened up this gym. Such a wonderful group of folks that make training a pleasure. I've not only found a place to burn calories and learn jiu jitsu, but I found a tight nit group of folks that act like family. If you're looking to get a good workout in, this is the place to come. Five nights a week! If you're looking to compete and get that gold, then this is the place to come, five nights a week! If you have no idea what you're doing in life and would like a new adventure, then this is the place to come, five nights a week!
