  Surfight is a top notch world class gym. Amazing instructors, great training partners, and a phenomenal facility. If you’re a day 1 beginner with no experience this is an incredible place that is very safe and friendly. If you’re a high level competitor you’re going to get very high level training here too. There is something for everyone here!

From the coaching to the atmosphere, everything is focused on real improvement—no ego, no nonsense. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in their students, from beginners to seasoned grapplers. The team culture is strong, classes are well structured, and the techniques are practical and modern. You leave every session better than when you walked in. If you’re looking for high-level jiu-jitsu and excellent coaching, Surfight Jiu Jitsu is an outstanding place to train.

  Love training at Surfight anytime I’m on that side of town. Every professor there has a wealth of knowledge and it is a one of a kind environment. Whether you’re curious about jiu jitsu or more experienced, you really can’t go wrong here. Great vibes all around!

  Joel is super cool! Got a chance to stop in at an open mat to watch him study and go over problem solving of unique positions. As an older guy who just turned 40 these guys understand how to be safe and still work. Sick vibe with a lot of good energy In the room. Joel is a gem at his own gym. Place even comes with a chess board and feeling the ocean breeze role in is sick. Can’t recommend it enough if you’re in Del Mar. It would be a dream to open up a gym with this type of vibe. Next time I’m in Del Mar I’m excited to get some roles on the mat with the team.

  Joel is one of the best BJJ guys in the business. He teaches with knowledge and experience gained from many different instructors, which makes the techniques he shows very relatable to all styles.I enjoyed the vibe and level of all the students as well. Highly recommend 🙏

  Nothing but good vibes with Joel Tudor. I first met Joel at his original Surfight Academy back in the day. Very welcoming and very generous with his knowledge right out the gate. He teaches laidback, but technically tight group classes and his private lessons are great. Appreciated the slick leg attack finishes and fun rolls. Can’t recommend training with Joel enough!

  I trained with Pietro 10 years ago everytime I was on holiday. Went to train with him again this week. Always very welcoming, makes you feel at home! Great jiu jitsu from a high level black belt, always great vibes! Highly suggest anyone in Tenerife to give this gym a visit!

  This place is one of a kind! Both head instructors, Joel and Magid, are able to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging way. Everyone who trains at Surfight is good.. from the white to black belts. You will always have a fun (and challenging) time training here!

  I dropped into one of their morning classes back in April 2024 and absolutely loved it. Instructor is very thorough and makes sure you understand the details of the moves he’s teaching. The post-workout conditioning was awesome as well. If you’re in the area or simply vacationing in the San Diego area like I was, do yourself the favor of taking a class at this place. You’ll be grateful you did!

  Stopped in for a 7am Nogi class while vacationing in Solana Beach and I can’t recommend Surfight enough! Erick is a very technical and articulate instructor, I really enjoyed learning from him. The rolls were fantastic, so much fun and challenging while keeping good vibes. All of the students I met were very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Surfight to all jiu jitsu practitioners who find themselves in the San Diego area. Thanks again guys and I can’t wait to return one day!

  I dropped in for a private with Professor Hage while I was in town for work. I can’t say enough great things about the training or about the gym. Super technical and patient, Magid broke each technique down in a way that was easy to understand and then progressed up to working it at full speed against resistance. The gym itself has an awesome vibe. Will definitely train here again the next time I am in San Diego!!

  If you train jiujitsu and in the area I must say you might want to stop by Gonna be worth it. I have gone here before I like to stop with a friend but no matter what you’re gonna have fun by check out the bathroom vibes it’s so nice here it’s what having a good time one would say because I’ve been visiting a lot and I must say best technique good energy positive vibes good song thru the box
