My 15-year old son attended SYFA for the past year before deciding to focus exclusively on high school wrestling. Bruno runs a great studio. It's a good place for the kids who are there more for the social aspect as well as those who are serious competitors. My son also liked to have the option of doing "gi" or "no gi" as well as the option to do two classes back to back.
Great BJJ Academy for kids and adults, lots of class times work great for most schedules and good facilities. Instructors are knowledgeable, welcoming and helpful. Great community!
The best thing I did was to enroll my son at 2 years and 6 months to train at SYF. It taught him a lot of discipline and technique. Today he is 6 years old and it has become his second family, they treat the children with great affection and he has a lot of affection for the teachers and friends he made there.
I signed up for a trial class not knowing anything about this sport; i had a fair amount of anxiety diving into something so foreign to me. Jessica and Bruno made me feel safe and welcome! Later on when it was time to join the regular class everyone was patient with me, even though it felt like i had two left legs and two right arms for the first couple months. Now i cant imagine my life without this sport! I also love the variety of times for classes in the schedule, having them both in the am and pm makes it easy to go before or after work/school. There are two showers so it is easy to keep a busy schedule without having to go all the way home after training. Love it!
Training at Submit Your Friend in Boston for the past six months has been an incredible experience. The academy has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, making it easy to feel at home from day one. The coach, Bruno, is outstanding—not only is he highly knowledgeable with years of jiu-jitsu experience, but his ability to break down complex techniques into easy-to-understand steps is exceptional. His teaching style ensures that everyone, regardless of skill level, can improve consistently. The same could be said about Caio, Edgardo, Nick, and all the other coaches. The students are equally fantastic. While many are competitive and highly skilled, they are always eager to help others grow and develop. There's a strong sense of community, where everyone's progress is celebrated. The facilities are top-notch, with spacious mats and a clean, well-maintained environment. Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills or just starting out, **Submit Your Friend** is the perfect place to train and be part of a supportive, driven team. Highly recommended!
Great school. Absolutely recommend for all levels.
Awesome environment, great people, and high level jiu jitsu. Also, if you have kids interested in the sport this is the only place you should be bringing them. The kids program is unmatched. Bruno is an amazing coach and is creating something special over in Brighton!
This is a really great club - run with professionalism, clean, but also with an amazing level of BJJ (but also lots of patience for newcomers).
SYF is a great place to learn and train. The culture is supportive, respectful, and family friendly. The facility is clean and bright and has a welcoming energy to it. I attended the MWF 6:00 AM classes because that’s all my schedule allows for. Most of the students in these classes were teens who competed on the SYF team. I was impressed by how focused and respectful they all are. They are also highly skilled, and you can learn a lot from them because they are willing to help you out. Professor Bruno is an excellent instructor. As a teacher, he is fast-paced yet patient, perceptive yet easygoing, fun yet focused, and it is clear that jiujitsu is second nature to him. He also makes sure to observe his less experienced students so he can give them extra instruction. This is important for us newbies. BJJ has a steep learning curve, so it's easy to develop bad habits early on, and it’s clear that he is intent on preventing this. I guess it goes without saying at this point, but I highly recommend this place.
Nice environment, great teacher's, my daughter Isabella loves SYF.
I was traveling for a couple weeks and still wanted to train while in Boston. Found this gym and talked to Bruno (the main professor) and was able to train with the guys there. What a gem! Very knowledgable and skilled teachers, welcoming students and loved the fight night with all students pushing themselves till the walls were sweating. Will definitely visit again when in Boston.
I have been training Jiu Jitsu whenever I have been in the Boston area since Submit Your Friend Academy first opened and, in short, it is a fantastic school. The instructors are all very skilled at both teaching and Jiu Jitsu, and they seem to sincerely enjoy sharing their passion for Jiu Jitsu. The school is kept very neat and clean, and there are single-person changing rooms and bathrooms, including showers. More than anything else, I enjoy and recommend this school because of the cooperative and family-friendly atmosphere. The classes are both physically demanding and very welcoming. Students are encouraged to go at whatever pace they can handle, and I have never felt judged when I did not know a technique or when my cardio was not as good as I wanted it to be. That culture seems to extend to all of the classes, from pee-wee to a variety of adults classes. Overall, this is a great Jiu Jitsu school, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to train or who is interested in trying Jiu Jitsu.
A great academy and a great trainer Bruno. I visited while passing through. Thanks. Greetings from Poland from Ipanema BJJ Piaseczno.
Bruno is the head owner and instructor of the academy. I went to a trial in adults class and a kid was at class and he was really good. They also told me that they clean there mats every year and they clean there mat before adults class and the front desk is really nice. Great vibes here.
Really great vibes here. Bruno is really welcoming and so is every other student I met. I look forward to training here every time I'm in town
Bruno is Amazing 🤩 Been practicing BJJ with him on and off for 8 years now! Just started training my 4 year old daughter also! Very respectful and caring instructor. I feel very comfortable having my little princess train here 😂😂
Bruno is amazing and this gym is awesome. Very friendly environment to train in for beginners (like me) and those going for competition alike. Loved my time here.
Great place for all ages, genders, and experience levels!
Bruno has created a culture of respect and support for others and one where the kids set high standards for themselves and learn real self discipline. When my kids walked in years ago and Bruno welcomed them with a big smile and welcomed us all with a handshake, I knew our kids would learn a lot more than JJ from him. The kids literally ADORE him. all of them do. he balances the discipline with the fun so well that they all want to please him and they hang on his every word. Both the very young and the teenagers. He really loves kids and it shows. In fact I think he just loves people. I highly recommend this place!
I have trained at SYF academy for almost 3 years and have found it to be one of the most welcoming & challenging Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies I have had the pleasure of training at across the world. The staff are highly professional and skilled instructors with dozens of years experience, and there are a wide array of classes ranging from pee-wee to competitor level each week. The facilities are like new, always spotless & carefully cleaned after each session. There are showers, bathrooms and changing rooms for each gender as well. I strongly recommend anyone considering starting BJJ, or an already active athlete, to stop by and check out the academy. The academy has plenty of different level students that will present a challenge for just about anybody, from absolute beginner to competitive black belt.
Excelente academia de jiu-jitsu brasileiro!! Professor Bruno TOPPPP.
SYF Academy is an amazing place to train BJJ. If you’re nervous about starting BJJ, don’t be! Instructors and students are always willing to help, such a great atmosphere on and off the mat!
Submit Your Friend was my introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I have to say that it was the best, most welcoming experience I could have imagined. I was able to start with 2 free weeks (5 classes) of 1-on-1 instruction to get me ready for the group classes, and it got me hooked immediately. Bruno and Jess are fantastic people, and both very skilled at BJJ. They are meticulous with their cleaning - especially now during the pandemic, they have been able to remain open due to their very strict policies and precautions. There was never a moment where I felt unsafe, and its overall a great environment to learn. There is a variety of class offerings, from gi to no-gi, and several high-level instructors who are more than willing to help you out with whatever you are struggling with. I cannot recommend this school enough, SYF is the best around!
I loved every minute I spent at submit your friend academy. I only left because I moved!!! I’m a petite girl with no experience, and I was so worried coming in. Bruno is an amazing instructor, and the women’s class has a fantastic community that made me feel so comfortable. I feel more comfortable and confident now that I train BJJ! I consider everyone there a friend and would highly recommended to anyone.
Mass BJJ is a great Brazilian Jiu jitsu school in the Brighton area. Bruno, is the head instructor there who is amazing at what he does! He is a high level black belt, and a very dedicated professor on and off the mats. This school has classes throughout the day for kids and adults. You can never miss a day of training! The energy here is fantastic and everyone is very welcoming, and humble on the mats. I have visited Mass BJJ many times, and would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a martial arts gym or a gym to get a good physical workout.
Very professional gym. Bruno is an awesome instructor. Always bringing the team to compete. They don't have a strict uniform policy. Plenty of facilities with 2 bathrooms, 2 changing rooms and 2 showers! I highly recommend!
Great place to practice BJJ! They have a large mat space & organized schedule for all ages and levels (basic fundamentals, all levels and competition). Bruno is great with kids. They just love him. If you need someone who has patience, it’s him! If you’re also looking for a team to compete with, Bruno travels for competitions with children and adults. Go check them out!
Really big fan of Bruno as an instructor and a person. Highly recommend his academy.
Great instruction and good training partners.
Best place to practice BJJ. Bruno is great with kids. He works hard to give attention to every child in his class and figure out their strengths and the best techniques for them. The gym is clean and organized, and all around a great atmosphere.
