I've been going here for almost 3 months now, I've had a great experience so far. The instructors are all excellent and there are a lot of classes at different times so it's pretty easy to work in my training around my busy schedule.
My three girls had Jiu Jitsu for few years in Hong Kong already, so they are so grateful that they can find the other wonderful Jiu Jitsu school in Boston. All coaches are so friendly, patient and knowledgeable with their skills. It made them feel welcome and love to join their class.
Great place to learn and challenge yourself. Instructors are the best and truly want to see everyone continue to get better. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you won’t regret it!
Kimura is a school that prioritizes on fundamentals which range from technique, body movement, pace, and your own personal development. Their schedule is the best around ranging from morning, noon and evening for adults. I was surprised at how kind and welcoming the coaches and other members were in welcoming me in and providing extra attention in assisting with drills that were completely foreign to me. While practicing, they’d give step by step instructions that would give a better understanding of the details within the drill. As a beginner, it takes time to develop proper technique and fundamentals and their classes reflect the philosophy that a strong foundation is the key to success. Whether you’re in it for self-defense or competition the coaches at Kimura have the patience, encouragement and support any new student could need…with an occasional chuckle or two. Never thought jiu jitsu would be a world I’d be part of and I can confidently say I am truly proud. It’s a beautiful sport and I now know why it’s considered an art. Thank you to ALL the coaches AND teammates who have helped me along the way and I do mean ALL. You’ve changed me more than you know. (Noteworthy mention: the last two Grappling Industries competitions, Kimura won Best Team Overall with the most wins from a school. Especially the camaraderie shared amongst coaches/teammates rooting for each other whether you competed or attended to support fellow teammates.)
Kimura is an awesome place to learn and train. It is a very friendly, diverse, and encouraging environment for all ages and skill levels. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and make the hard work enjoyable. In the couple years that I have been around Kimura I have seen many people show up, become part of the community, get in shape, and vastly improve their martial arts. Can't recommend enough.
I started BJJ and have been training at Kimura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Boston for about a years now (white belt); hands down the best place around to start, advance, or drop in! The instructors’ knowledge and quality, the culture and community, and of course the cleanliness is at world class level. And after trying it myself I am bringing my kid here, too, and I know of plenty other parents that do the same. My daughter enjoys it and learns a lot. Hi Ly recommended if you want to start your journey at BJJ or if you’re looking for a gym to join.
Dropped in today and had a great experience. It’s a clean and professional gym with a fantastic atmosphere, professor, and training partners. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to train.
This is a fantastic place! My son goes there for 9 months and likes it a lot. The instructors are not only knowledgeable, they are also magnificent teachers. The sparring in martial arts was very challenging for my son psychologically, and instructors guided him carefully, talked to him and listened to him a lot, and now he is fully into it! I really appreciate the work of Kimura's instructors. Thank you!
I've practiced at Kimura BJJ for about half a year in 2024. With just about 4 years of experience in BJJ in total and a blue belt with 3 stripes I'm not really advanced, but not an entire freshman neither: I have regular experience from 3 other American schools, and 3 European ones. I can responsibly write that Kimura BJJ is a great BJJ school and recommend it to anyone who wants to check the sport. It is also offering morning, noon and evening classes, so scheduling is not an issue. The instructors are super professional and able to teach both to recreational and competitive students. The number of black belts is, arguably, the highest among schools in the Boston area, and it is typical that at least 2-3 black belts come to any class. Both gi and no-gi classes are offered, and in both cases taught by several different instructors, so you can choose your preferred instruction style. I've had a chance to learn from Bryan, Dave, Marv, McCormick, Nick, and Stan - all helped me understand different aspects of the game. Classes typically take 1 hour, sometimes followed by an open mat. Most, if not all, classes involve live rolling. Most instructors take good care to teach a specific curriculum, intentionally developed and introduced over weeks to really well introduce specific BJJ concepts - this approach is super useful, and works well for groups containing beginners, advanced and expert practitioners. The rolling culture is friendly, and people are eager to help each other grow, as well as adjust to the needs of others. The school is dog-friendly and, on occasion, a dog or two wait in the reception area for the owners to finish their training.
I have been a student at Kimura BJJ School for over 2 years and it has been an amazing experience. The instructors and students are some of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and continue to meet the more I train. The instructors are some of the most knowledgeable and dedicated people I’ve ever met. The students of all levels are all dedicated to self improvement within the craft and helping others achieve their goals as well. Everything from the warm up exercise routines, to the lessons and sparring Kimura offers something for all levels and they are very accommodating to anyone new to the sport. At Kimura there are lots of options for training Gi or no-Gi at different times throughout the day, and Judo technic offerings a few days a week. I’ve had the pleasure of attending a few Grappling competitions to cheer on my Kimura classmates, and the support from all Instructors, Students and other school spectators is so supportive of all competing. In the studio or at competitions, the energy within the Kimura family is noticeably warming and supportive of all who are training or competing. As a novice, new to the sport, and to the world of substance abuse recovery, training at Kimura BJJ has become a new healthy addiction for me, that offers both physical and mental challenges that have helped keep me on a better path in life. And I recommend trying BJJ or martial arts to many others in recovery as well. From the first emails I had connecting with Joe and my first BJJ & Judo classes at Kimura I have been hooked, and to reflect on where I was, to where I am now has been an amazing and gratifying journey thus far, both in my training, as well as my personal life. I look forward to continuing my learning and training of this beautiful sport through Kimura for years to come. It is such an honor to be part of such a dedicated and respected school as Kimura is.
My son and I both train at Kimura BJJ. The kids program is fantastic, with outstanding professors and coaches who attend to the needs and growth of each student. The adult program is also excellent - they offer plenty of classes, helpful professors and coaches, detailed and insightful instruction, intense workouts, and supportive community.
This is where I started off my bjj journey. Great place with amazing people and very knowledgeable instructors
Kimura is an excellent school to train BJJ. Instruction is top notch and the culture is great. Everyone is super friendly and helpful to students of all different levels.
Great place to learn and grow. Joe Bell is a fantastic instructor.
Kimura is a spectacular place to train juijitsu. The entire team is a very welcoming and accepting crew. I have only been training for a little over a year but truly feel apart of the family culture that Kimura embodies. I have been through a lot in my life, especially this past year, and this gym has helped give me a sense of purpose- all the individuals who train here posses great character and help to motivate those around them. Overall, training at Kimura has made me a better person. Highly recommend.
Great instruction, nice vibe, nice mix of ages and both men and women
Great school!
Amazing place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, welcoming, respectful, clean and great atmosphere. I am proud to be part of this Family, great techniques and the most important friendly and Family environment, my kids love to train at Kimura BJJ, I’m really thankful for everything! OSS
Kimura isn’t just a school, it is a community, a really strong and united community. It’s a place not only for competitors, but also, for those who just want to learn how to defend themselves, for the ones who want a workout in their days. If you are new person at the school, they will try their best to insure you enjoy you have an awesome experience.
Great place, great culture, great people, great technique and great brotherhood.
I recommend Kimura Boston. Professor Marb is an excellent BJJ instructor for adults and kids alike. Excellent enviroment for kids and parents to learn BJJ/self defense.
Excellent space, teachers prepared to teach classes from children to the elderly...excellent service and the main thing is high-level jiu jitsu
My daughter and I have trained Kimura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Boca Raton for nearly 5 years. It has been a wonderful time of growth for both of us. We have become more confident and are part of a community that cares for us. Our passion for the sport has grown and helped us to be in the best shape of our lives. Though we have both competed and won medals, our main focus is lifestyle BJJ and enjoying the camaraderie of our fellow students. Kimura is a family. Having said as much, we have had the opportunity to travel north and also train with our Boston Kimura family. Everyone was super welcoming! Marb, Andrea, Nikki…just to name a few, encouraged us to train and paired us up nicely. The women in Boston were kind and matched our level of technique and power. We love the Boston gym and look forward to training every time we wander north into the cold. 😂😉
I have been training at Kimura Boca Raton for about 5 years and it has been absolutely life changing. Although I have never had the opportunity to visit the Boston location, it is with no doubts that it’s just as amazing not only because the owners are very particular in keeping their essence throughout all locations but also because it was the very first Kimura BJJ in the United States. Happy and proud to be part of the Kimura family and call myself a Kimurense. OSS!
Kimura is a place you’d want to go to if you’re looking for not only jiu jitsu, but a great community and environment. I’ve been training there for almost 7 years now and I have found most of my friends here and an amazing passion I definitely would recommend anyone to come here from all ages and origins.
Family environment, high level instructors , Super clean. Bjj is changing lives.
Beyond the physical aspects of training, Kimura BJJ Boston ensures that classes are engaging and enjoyable. The instructors infuse a sense of passion and fun into their teaching, making each session not only instructive but also a source of enjoyment. In conclusion, Kimura Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Boston stands as a beacon for those seeking a positive, enriching, and empowering journey through martial arts. From the expert instruction to the inclusive community, every aspect contributes to creating an environment where individuals can achieve their goals and, more importantly, enjoy the process. If you're considering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Boston, Kimura BJJ is undoubtedly an excellent choice.
Great place to learn jiu jitsu. Good vibes 🤙🏽
kimura usa is certainly one of the best BJJ schools in the USA, serious teaching and commitment to student discipline in the use of the gentle art, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a school committed to the teaching and discipline of Brazilian jiu jitsu. oss
I highly recommend Kimura BJJ. Awesome environment.
This gym/dojo is fantastic! A welcoming atmosphere with excellent coaches and instructors. This place is always super clean and friendly. Love Kimura!
This place is awesome! Friendly environment!! The staff is great and very clean!! Me my daughter and son are part of this great family!!
My son and my husband train at Kimura and it brought so many benefits for both of them. The instructors are amazing, kids program are so good in every detail, the school is very clean and environment are perfect for everyone. Im so happy to be part of this big family called Kimura jiu jitsu. Totally recommend.
This is the place where it all started for me and I will forever be grateful for the first day I stepped into Kimura Bjj! Thank you for everything and for the ongoing journey. I’m blessed to be a part of this family! Oss
O melhor lugar!
I truly feel honored to be a part of this place. Kimura BJJ , Master Jean Kleber and his team has my highest recommendations for everyone who is interested in BJJ
Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just starting your Jiu-Jitsu journey, Kimura Jiu-Jitsu Academy offers top-notch training with a friendly and supportive community. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive and enriching Jiu-Jitsu experience.
The bests
I started training Jiu Jitsu at Kimura in 2005, it was one of the best decision I made.
Jiu-jitsu good
Amazing BJJ school for kids and adults. I like everything about this place!
Kimura is a BJJ community like no other. Incredibly knowledgeable coaches who are also kind and caring individuals. Kimura is like a second family. I cannot recommend them enough.
The best school of jiu-jitsu in Boston!!! Classes are extremely effective and one-on-one oriented.
it has been an amazing ride thus far. it has been 13 years since i joined Kimura bjj. It really is a family environment school and I can speak from self experience, as my daughter is now also training at Kimura for almost two years. We both love it. It's a n honor to be a kimurense. from white to black and still going. oossss
was invited to drop in for a training session. from the beginning everyone was welcoming and came up and shook hands and introduced themselves. they did both a gi class and then after a no gi class which not all schools offer both. both classes gave time for open roll after technique which some schools don’t make as much time for so that was an awesome add on. the technique class was great. i liked that they seemed to start with the basics of a technique, allow drilling, then each time would add to the technique to make it a little more advanced. it was a good overall progression that left you with options in a scenario rather than a single very specific technique only. clean, friendly, well thought out teaching … in general a really good experience overall.
Stopped by for a drop in class and was greeted with great instructors and amazing people. Everyone was extremely welcoming. If you are thinking about trying BJJ, definitely check out this place.
Professors Joey and Cormac are fantastic to learn from. Incredibly welcoming environment and a great place to train. I also really love the Judo classes they offer with Bill and Andrea. The NoGi classes with Pat and Lyle are also fantastic.
My 10 year old son has been training at Kimura for nearly two years. We started him here on the recommendation of a co-worker. My wife and I were looking for a way to help build our son’s confidence with his peers and with life situations in general. The instructors are all amazing, but I can’t say enough about Marb, who strikes a terrific balance between building grit and discipline while providing comfort in challenging times. It has been amazing to see my son grow in so many ways over the last two years and I credit his time at Kimura as playing a major role. Kimura’s slogan is “Together as a Family” and believe me, they mean it.
Undoubtedly one of the best places I’ve ever trained. Trained at a lot of places and Kimura is absolutely trained. Coach Joe is a mentor to me 👊
great place, nice and humble people, very recommended
This Brazilian jujitsu club is a rare gem. The teachers are extremely dedicated, friendly and pedagogues, they are present every day with 3 classes per day and extra weekend sessions with open mat. The atmosphere is excellent there, like in a big family; you will find what you are looking for from amateur to competitive practice. It's a real pleasure to train there and I wish I had found sooner!!!!!
Great place, excellent instructors. So I happy I found them.
An excellent place to train! Kimura BJJ Boston has a large, clean facility, many excellent black belt instructors, and talented and friendly training partners. I'm a purple belt who travels a lot, and whenever I'm in Massachusetts I do my best to attend a class or two.
Started BJJ @Kimura together with my 13-year old son about 6 months ago. Amazing experience, the best instructors, welcoming and respectful atmosphere. Great mix of all ages, body types, and higher and lower belts. The first couple of weeks were tough (especially for Daddy ;-) but now both of us regret and feel bad every we time we have to skip a training. Highly recommended for all ages and the best work out you will ever get anywhere.
This is an amazing place to learn bjj! I came here with zero experience in wrestling and fell in love with it the first day, everyone here is great and wants you to succeed and pushes you to perform to the best of your ability. If you want to learn bjj I definitely recommend coming here.
My co-worker found out I tried BJJ before I moved down for a new job, and he recommended Kimura to me. I am so glad he did! The community is warm and welcoming, the instructors are thorough and patient, and those at a higher level are always happy to help out those of us with less experience.
Great instructors, amazing community. Everyone is very helpful to beginners and committed to their progression.
Great place, very friendly staff and great exercise for the kids
I came to Kimura with 0 knowledge of any martial arts and was welcomed with open arms. Joe, along with the other trainers, are highly knowledgeable, patient and motivating; everything you’d want when learning something brand new. The folks I trained with were friendly and willing to help if you want to put in the work. For sure no egos here but definitely a competitive spirit which I loved. It’s hard to imagine how much I’ve learned in 6 months (still a lot more to learn) but I highly recommend Kimura for whichever level of BJJ you’re at. Also, mats + gym is very clean!
My son and daughter, age 7 and 4, have been training at Kimura for the last 6 months and love it! The instructors are excellent and do a great job helping the kids develop the skills and self confidence needed to progress in the sport and everyday life. I’ve even started training here myself and love that we’re able to do this as a family. Highly recommend!!!
Writing as someone who as never trained in combat or even contact sports before. I spent my first month of BJJ training at Kimura in Watertown MA. I primary worry going into training BJJ was what was the learning atmosphere going to be like. Once I begin I quickly found Kimura to be a great place to learn. The black-belt instructors Joey Bell, Marbs, and Cormac are great. They clearly have there own games and different things to show you and they are approachable. I also found the community at Kimura to be great. A number of the purple and blue-belt student are down to earth and happy to train with you and help you develop. While the gym trains traditionally with belt hierarchy, I never felt looked down upon as a new white belt. I’m off to college in NY where I will train there but look forward to rejoining Kimura BJJ when I return to MA!
I dropped in while I was in town for the month and the staff was amazing. They take the time to help each individual student based off of their needs. The classes are very informative and everyone there is very welcoming. If you are in the area and want to start jiu jitsu this is the place to go!
So thankful to have joined such a great community. Everyone is there to help each other and I’m so happy to have signed up (update) this place has changed my life for the better for the best and I’m so thankful to all the teachers and other students. It truly is a family environment here
My 9 yo son has been learning BJJ for a year now and his progress is impressive. The masters are patient and kind. They are amazing with kids all age, always supportive and encouraging. Kids learn respect in all aspects, of their master, their peers and the sport. They are not just teammates, but a family too. They support each other as they train together. He has gain strength in his core as well as balance and tenacity. We are very happy that was welcomed in the Kimura BJJ family!
Wonderful, Marvelous, Formidable, The Best Place to be All the Way Around.
Kimura is a incredibly welcoming place. Everyone here looks after each other we train hard but have fun doing so. The instructions Marb and Joe are amazing and really pay attention. This is my first BJJ school and I am very glad that I have chosen kimura to start my BJJ journey I honestly do not think I could’ve chosen a better academy in the area. You won’t be disappointed here.
My son loves this place and the instructors. They make the kids program fun while learning new drills and moves.
For people new to the sport: Has the family vibe if you're looking for it, and also people that take it very seriously. Coaches have great people skill, I've trained at a few places (because I moved around the area) and this is the first place I felt that coaches took the time to remember names and keep track of the students. A good diversity of students, so if you're looking to make friends while learning something, this is a good bet. For people who's been training for a while: I'm sure you know what to look for, but the most important thing for me about Kimura is that there are lots of different black belts with different games and no ego, great for figuring out your game!
Kimura BJJ is a top notch Brazilian jiu jitsu gym with excellent instruction and a welcoming atmosphere. I am very grateful to be part of this community and it has improved my life in many ways. The instructors, Joey Bell, Marbs, and Cormac are not just highly knowledgeable instructors but great human beings that I look up to everyday and have learned so much from. The Kimura community has become a very important part of my life and I am very grateful for the friendships that I have made training here. Being part of the Kimura community you are constantly learning and not just from the instructors, but the upper level belts are always willing to spend time with beginner's and help out anybody that has any questions. I 100% recommend Kimura BJJ to anybody looking to improve their life.
Really excellent and respectful group of students and professors. I always feel comfortable training at Kimura and have bonded very quickly with the people there! Hayk (2 stripe white belt)
I’m glad that I found Kimura BJJ. It is such a wonderful place with a very friendly community. It was originally only for my son to learn on how to defend himself. But now my son not only learned on how defend himself, he also learned how to be confident, how to be help other and how to take care of his own well-being. Great school 10/10
I travel lot for work and get the opportunity to train in gyms all across the states. I've been in the area of this gym a few times, but this is the first trip I stopped by this gym. Not only did they offer great instructional jiu jitsu, but they have several people from other deciplines teach their specialties (Judo and wrestling for instance) which means you get an incredibly well rounded grappling game. This is incredibly rare in the world of jiu jitsu but will build your grappling game much quicker. The coaches were all well trained and solid teachers, and they treated their students like family. I will be visiting this gym any chance I am in the area!
The moment I stepped in I felt massive amounts of respect and warmth, the anxiety of starting a challenging hobby went away immediately. The intructors are super proffesional and caring. The gym is well taken care of and clean, the environment is non-toxic. A few months into BJJ I find it a fantastic, healthy and rewarding experience, I have no regrets and wish I had started sooner. Kimura has exceeded all expectations!
Kimura has great instructors for Jiu Jitsu and Judo, the environment is friendly, supportive and safe. There are programs catering to children, women and all adults, also gi and no-gi grappling. You can learn self defense , get in great shape and make a lot of new friends !
This place is amazing. From the first day I arrived they welcomed me. Everyone was patient and worked with me to learn. The skills in the gym are outstanding, the only thing that is better is the people and values. The people who run the gym not only talk about creating a family, they live it! Happy to be a member of the Kimura Family!
Our kids LOVE Kimura! At Kimura BJJ they learn how to be respectful with everyone, paciente and always give their best! The instructors are very qualified, black belt level, but also warm and playful.
Kimura is the best!!! When I first joined everyone was so warm and welcome. Now it's the highlight of my day to come down, train and see some of my best friends.
Great staff who really care about you and are dedicated to teaching. Joe, Marb, and Cormac are top notch and treat you like family. I had to drop out due to my schedule but I will return the near future
Outstanding attention to details in class by the Sensei.
My children have been attending Kimura BJJ for a few months now, and it is amazing to see the level of confidence and discipline they have developed in such a short period of time. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like you are among family (in a very good way). The instructors (Diego, Joe, and Marb) have all been wonderful. Each one of them bring a sense of energy and passion in their instruction and training. I have, and will continue to recommend Kimura BJJ to anyone who is interested in learning the art of BJJ.
Best BJJ School in town. Awesome place for kids, beginners, families or even for competitors. Head instructors are well versed and has not only the technical knowledge but mainly the core values of the marital arts: discipline, respect, loyalty, confidence etc. The school is very clean and the environment is amazing. Totally recommendd.
Kimura has been wonderful to keep my kid active and disciplined. The instructors are amazing and really bond with all the students.
Great gym, with high class and knowledgeable instructors. I visited multiple Jiu Jitsu gyms before making my final decision on where to join, and Kimura was the ONLY gym that made me feel like more than a payday. The instruction is awesome, the attention to detail, the patience to walk every student individually through their own game puts Kimura into a category of it's own. Highly recommend.
I came to Kimura around 8 months ago and I have only good things to say about this school. The training environment is great, the instructors are professional and friendly. You immediately feel like you are a part of the family. Not to mention the bjj training is top notch. I highly recommend.
I’ve been training at Kimura BJJ consistently since April 2010. I can still remember the day I first walked in a met Master Jean. It can be intimidating to walking into a martial arts school for the first time. This was not the case at Kimura. Master Jean’s charisma, passion about BJJ, teaching and lifestyle is open, obvious and infectious. It’s impossible not to get excited about success and improvement around him. The level of passion, commitment and training at Kimura is unrivaled. Over the years I have had the opportunity to train with so many people from widely varying backgrounds, skill levels, viewpoints etc. I even occasionally visit friends training at other schools. What has remained constant throughout is the camaraderie, mutual respect and commitment to improvement at Kimura. It truly is “unity” and “family”. Likewise, I have trained with many different instructors who uphold Master Jean’s standards in BJJ training and technique as well as overall character. I am truly thankful for everyone that has been part of my BJJ journey over the years and particularly to my coaches both former and current (I’m looking at you Rodrigo, Bruno, Joe, David, Flavio and Diego), as well as all of my training partners. Not much learning, growing or improvement would happen without the training partners who constantly amaze me with their willingness, dedication and ability to adapt and keep showing up. If you want to get fit, learn authentic technical BJJ (for sport, self defense, work or lifestyle) and want to make lasting connections with different types of people , then you owe it to yourself to come check out what Kimura BJJ has to offer.
Great place to train BJJ. Welcoming environment for new students. Instructors are patient and really know their stuff. The higher level students are super friendly and passionate about helping you improve.
When it comes to Martial Art schools, let alone BJJ Schools. Kimura is a diamond in the rough. The level of detail and dedication that is instilled in the core values of the school is represented in ever aspect. Wether that be how clean the mats are, The way everyone treats each other, The pride in the Gi, The attention to detail in instruction and learning. The biggest thing I get out of training at Kimura is the community that thrives around the school, and that isn't something you ever consider when selecting a place to learn. I came to Kimura wanting to learn the art of Brazilian Jui Jitsu. Now two years later I am a part of something so much more than just a Martial Arts School, I'm part of a family.
Instructors are knowledgeable and patient with all students. The environment is friendly and always welcoming. Instructors instill traits such as discipline, confidence, and control. They ensures all students develop skills to achieve their goals on and off the mat. Best martial arts school in the world.
Clean, professional, outstanding environment. Kimura is the place to be if you're looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school that will help you learn the art, and grow as an individual. You'll find structured classes in a clean environment, where the instructors really care about your BJJ journey. This is a place where ego doesn't shine, humility is taught and valued, and is a great fit for all ages. I truly value my experience at Kimura. After years of training, numerous competitions, lifelong friends, a few injuries, I can say that this place has really helped me to better my life both on and off the mat.
In the short time I've spent at Kimura they've made me feel like family. From the moment I stepped through the door I was shown respect. Diego and the other instructors are very talented and clearly have a passion not only for Jiu Jitsu, but for spreading their art to others. I spent 3 weeks shadowing gyms in the area and ultimately decided to join the Kimura Family; and I made an excellent choice. Everyone is kind, respectful, charismatic, and dedicated on the mats. Nobody is left behind, and everyone gets the attention they need. Kimura follows a traditional code, and brings honor to BJJ in the Boston area. To me, Kimura is synonymous with family, respect, and dedication. I have learned so much in the time that I've been there and look forward to continuing down the path of Jiu Jitsu with my Kimura family. OSS!
Thanks to Kimura Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, my 7 year old son's confidence is growing as he learns how to find the balance between being a responsible leader and role model to the other children around him and being humble in understanding what is and what isn't worth "fighting" for in various situations he faces and will continue to face in life. He really enjoys his classes, classmates and instructors. I'm very confident that with all of the help and support that my son receives from his Jiu Jitsu instructor, he will continue to mature into the kind of man who will have great opportunities ahead of him to become a very helpful and self-sufficient citizen. Thank you Kimura for all you do for our son’s growing, we really appreciate it! Three years have passed, and our son still enjoys it!!!
Great atmosphere here! My brother Diego is a great teacher, he’s good with kids and one of the most skilled Jiu Jitsu competitor in the business. Diego has dedicated his life to the art and has excelled at it. Keep it up Diego Faroni and Jean Kleber! You guys rock!
I have been a member of Kimura BJJ in Watertown for nearly five years. The minute I walked through the doors, with no prior knowledge or experience in Brazilian Jiujitsu, I felt confident that this was my sport and these were my people! Our fantastic instructors, Diego Faroni and Joe Bell, are highly accomplished and experienced teachers who are always working hard to help develop the skills and techniques of their students. They are also always eager to support students who wish to prepare for upcoming tournaments. Our higher belts pride themselves in assisting newer members and are always willing to pair up for drilling, answer any questions that they may have, and teach them the rules of the mat. Over the years we have developed a robust and tightly knit women’s group. Although we are fewer in number than the men, we are a mighty force and are always warmly welcoming new women to the team! If you are looking for a school with a sense of community, pride, professionalism, high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, top notch training, loyalty, and a multitude of lifelong friends and teammates, Kimura BJJ is the place for you!
In my ten years of training at Kimura I have had a great experience. I feel that I receive high level instruction from people who are interested in sharing their knowledge and passion for BJJ. Kimura is a team environment where there is no such thing as a dumb question this makes learning the sport easy and fun. I appreciate that at Kimura I will get to train with people from all walks of life. Some people will train everyday with aspirations of being a world champion and other will train once a week and have no interest in competing, which is also okay. If you are a person who is interested in learning the sport of BJJ, learning self defense or just getting some exercise Kimura BJJ is for everyone.
I trained at Kimura for 2 years and due to work and housing issues I made the hard decision to move out of state. Regardless of that fact I still made it a point to drive a hour both ways to come at least once a week because it was worth it. The instruction you get and the training partners is unmatched. If you're looking for a clean, structured, effective school to learn jiu-jitsu look no further. Even now as I transition to another school I will always thank Joe and Diego and the rest of my Kimura family for giving me the best foundation anyone could possible get. It's one I'll cherish and carry with me for the rest of my bjj career.
Diego is phenomenal with the kids. He quickly learns what motivates them and works to ensure they enjoy BJJ and become part of a greater community. He is patient, yet creates structure and aura of respect common to martial arts. He ensures kids learn the proper techniques and grow in their Jui Jitsu both physically and mentally. The dojo is clean and community is welcoming. Joey and sometimes other higher belt instructors are also great with the kids and even have their own kids in the classes so there is truly a family like atmosphere that earns your trust as a parent. I would highly recommend BJJ to anyone looking to open up a shy kid or have a child learn a little discipline while enjoying a martial arts that's more akin to wrestling than power contact. It's great self defense for takedown and submissions as well as a confidence booster for the child.
Good jits from certain instructors. Others not so much.
