Boston accounts for close to half of the BJJ tournaments in Massachusetts. Tyngsborough, Danvers and Rockland are the other main locations.
Grappling Industries Boston is the most frequent event, with round-robin brackets that guarantee multiple matches. Gaman runs the Massachusetts Championship in both Gi and No-Gi, and other recurring events include the NAGA Boston and Massachusetts Grappling Championships, the Tap Cancer Out Massachusetts BJJ Open (with separate adult and youth events), Flow Sub Only, the NEWBREED Boston Jiu Jitsu Championship, the Fenix Fall Open and the FUJI BJJ Massachusetts Winter Championships.
Gi divisions are slightly more common than No-Gi, and around a third of events run kids divisions. Adult entry is typically around $30–$140. November is the busiest month, followed by February, March and October.
