Great and welcoming place to train! I joined during the free training month and have been hooked ever since. Everyone is friendly and wants you to learn. I dont see myself stopping anytime soon. Also is a fantastic workout.
Awesome training environment. Clean mat space, tough rounds and welcoming to visitors. Highly recommend checking out this gym if you’re in the area and interested in training
Amazing gym to train in with both adults and kids classes.
Both of our oldest sons train in and love Jiu Jitsu. We have done drop in classes and have even been in several competitions. The owner runs a great program and is one of the best. Highly recommend!
Great academy. Great people. Great community. Love what these guys are building here in Hamburg!
Great place to train BJJ. The culture is awesome. Jonathan and Nick were super welcoming to me when I walked in knowing no one and I got comfortable pretty quick. Everyone there that trains is also super nice and the atmosphere is great.
I tried bjj about a year ago and had a terrible experience with another gym in the area. I wasn’t sure if jiu jitsu just wasn’t for me, I soon quit and was about to never try bjj again. I saw how close Sub Zero was and decided to try a free class out. Ever since my first class with John and Nick I’ve been hooked. Ive been training at Sub Zero for close to 6 months now. John and Nick are two of the best teachers in this area and are patient, respectful, and two men who care about their craft deeply. Whether you are a day 1 newbie or a 10 year veteran, you will feel comfortable training here. Don’t hesitate to give this gym a shot.
Amazing jiu jitsu, great technique, and a great atmosphere! If your considering training jiu jitsu, this is the place!
Sub-Zero is the place to go if you want to get serious about learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! First off, they offer three free classes and I highly recommend them. That means if you aren’t quite sure if BJJ is for you, you can come on down and try a few classes and decide for yourself if it’s worth it! It’s been over 6 months since I started training here and I’ve seen incredible personal growth, weight loss, and built incredible friendships, all under the watchful eye of Jonathan and Nick. In addition, I joined several members in a tournament and was rewarded with an amazing trip with amazing people; so for those that are looking for competition, these guys will get you ready for it. If you want to learn a great martial art, make some new friends, and enjoy a welcoming family atmosphere; This is the place to go. From casual to competitive, they got everything covered! I also bring my little ones here too; the kids class is terrific and perfect to get the kiddos moving. Stop reading. Give them a call. Get in here. And let’s train!!!
Amazing community vibe with the most up to date meta in the jiu jitsu world. Free open mats for all 10-12 sundays come train!
Came in for the 3 free classes 5 weeks ago. Joined 4 weeks ago. I'm in my mid thirties with zero jiu-jitsu experience. Very safe and welcoming environment with great people. Jon and Nick are awesome instructors that explain and show each technique in detail. They will walk you through anything you're not quite getting or having trouble with. I wouldn't hesitate to come in for the free trial and just see for yourself.
I've trained in a half dozen schools across four different states, so I speak from a little experience when I say. Jonathan and Nick at Sub Zero have built an outstanding Academy. It is friendly, clean, and safe. The culture is great and the Jiu Jitsu is top tier. Their head coach Jonathan Reynolds brings the technical excellence of a black belt who has competed at the highest levels and trained with top coaches. But the benefit of Sub Zero is you get to gain from that experience in an intimate setting. The coaches continuously check everyone's form during drilling and provide personal feedback. The members of the gym all took time to personally introduce themselves to me the first day I walked in as I was training for a week over the holidays. I would highly recommend giving Sub Zero a try if you're looking to get started in Jiu Jitsu or if you want to get your child into martial arts. The last thing that I'll add is that the Academy is open and welcoming to people from other schools, their Open Mat was one of the most fun I've attended. There was a really great assortment of upper and lower belts all working their technique.
Experienced grappler from out of town here. Came for open mat and everyone was friendly. Wasn't treated like an outsider. Thanks guys!
Very welcoming environment. Instructors are committed to providing their students with technical and modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction. I recommend Sub-Zero to anyone looking to learn this life changing martial art.
Dropped in from out of town for Open Mat on a Sunday and was greeted enthusiastically. Nick and Jon were very welcoming, great communicators and clearly know their craft. The school is clean and comfortable, the other participants are warm, respectful and very skilled. I’m extremely impressed by Sub Zero BJJ and wish them all the best!
I’m traveling in the Buffalo area and dropped in for an evening class tonight. Jonathan and Nick are very welcoming. The gym is clean and new and my fellow classmates were very nice. If you’re thinking about taking a Jiu Jitsu class I would highly recommend Sub Zero.
World class instruction from instructors with real passion for jiu jitsu. Come and learn from some of the best in Buffalo!
I always wanted to get into BJJ, but didn't feel I found the right place until I started coming here. Both Nick and Jon are super chill, great at teaching and overall they want the best for you. I am truly greatful for both of them. I've been going to this gym for a few weeks now. The classes are small and they are hands on with teaching students what they need to know. Both Nick and Jon are very encouraging and it shows how much they love what they do. I have no doubt that anyone that comes here and meet them will not have any regrets. Recommend 10/10
Great place to train, super friendly atmosphere, very clean and welcoming. Coach’s are great, if you want to learn this art, this is the place to be!!!!
I have trained at 4 other MMA/BJJ schools in WNY and I’ve learned that Sub Zero Jiu Jitsu is the best one. Both Coach Jon and Coach Nick have been the best coaches I’ve worked with and have really perfected their craft. Sub Zero Jiu Jitsu is clean, safe, and welcoming to everyone and anyone interested in learning BJJ. I highly recommend Sub Zero Jiu Jitsu as the best academy in WNY.
I have always wanted to try a martial art. Jiu jistu is a very practical martial art for both sport and real life. The coaches at Sub Zero are great. The love for the art and their ability to teach it to all levels is impressive. You could be someone who is on day one or someone with several years on their belt and Jon and Nick break it down in a way where you will leave there with something new and build on next time you are there. The one on one training is exceptional and really helps the learning from the ground up. Great atmosphere between the students and coaches. A well rounded atmosphere for learning, having fun, and putting the hard work in for the results. Very satisfied with the training and availability of the class to improve my skills in the sport. The coaches break it down in sequences to learn the skills of the moves to apply them and make sense of them in a roll to tie them all together. Great place to learn.
I started training with the guys at Sub Zero in April at age 34. Although I've played sports and been active my entire life, I've never done any type of combat sports. Jiu Jitsu is complicated. There are a lot of things to learn and it's notoriously overwhelming at first. At sub zero you get to work very closely with the coaches. Jon and Nick met me personally for my first class and walked me through a sequence and a submission. The small class sizes really have helped me learn quickly. Many of the times I'm learning something new I'm drilling on one of the coaches. They provide instant feedback and keep you moving in the right direction. The culture at sub zero is one that's both focused and chill. You can have fun learning, push yourself, get competitive, or take a step back and catch your breath. You go at your own pace. There are people training hard for competition and people that drop in once or twice a week for fun. It's a supportive environment with very little ego. Everyone is just trying to get better and have fun. Jon and Nick are obsessed with their sport. These guys are building something really cool. Come check out a class!
Had a great time at my first class! Super welcoming and saw a family with small kids and parents learning together which I thought was cool. Can't wait to go back!
Super Welcoming and Experienced coaching staff. Great vibe in general. So glad I found this place.
So just started with this club a couple months ago and never done anything like this in my life. I cannot say on how much fun I have training with these guys and they work with me every step of the way. If I get hung up and this happens all the time they work with me and slow things down and take it step by step. I would hands down come give these guys a try some time if this is something your looking to get into. Ps it’s also a rly good work out and a way to keep in shape
I have been to a few cheap trial classes for Brazilian jujitsu schools prior, and I never felt like I fit in with the crowd. I was new to the sport and I felt confused with little guidance. After joining sub zero I finally found a group of accepting individuals, there classes are structured in a way that you will be able to learn the martial art at a quick and structured pace, there are great beginner classes as well so you don’t have to get thrown in with the wolves. Jon and Nick are some of the most dedicated coaches I have seen in the area, they do this for the love of the sport not just to own a gym. They both have passion for Bjj. They have a lot of class time options and all of the students are kind and courteous. Everyone is there to help one another grow on the path to being the best version of themselves. I will personally be competing for my first time this month under the guidance of Jon and Nick. I’m excited and I feel as ready as I could ever be with having the experience gained at sub zero.
