Both of my kids (ages 7 and 4) go to this gym, and it’s been such a fantastic experience. The coaches, (shout out to Camila and Iris!) do an incredible job of making each class both challenging and fun, which keeps the kids fully engaged and excited to come back every week. Beyond the training itself, what really stands out is the sense of community— Coach Breno and the entire coaching staff is welcoming, supportive, and committed to helping the kids grow both on and off the mats. We feel lucky to have found this place!

Soneca’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes have been absolutely incredible to the growth and development of my two sons (age almost 8 and 6.5). Not only have my boys become physically stronger but the intellectual and mental growth for them has been indescribable. Since they began taking BJJ classes at the early ages 5.5 and 4, my husband and I have noticed a significant but steady improvement in their overall physical, mental, and emotional well being. The whole team of coaches (including Breno, Beth, Carlos, Filipe, Dominic—amongst others I am sure I am forgetting to name here—and of course the man, the myth, the legend, Coach SONECA himself) have given my 2 boys the confidence we all knew they always had inside them; but now, they have been able to show themselves and everyone around them just how truly and incredibly smart, strong, and skilled they are! We have now become a part of the awesome and very quickly growing BJJ family there and my heart yearns for them to be in the gym practicing BJJ every single day!!! I cannot say enough great things about BJJ, but more specifically about Soneca BJJ in Marlborough and Worcester, Massachusetts. We love you guys, and you are forever stuck with us because we aren’t ever leaving!!!

I’ve been training at the gym for a couple of years. It has a good student belt depth. Soneca as the head instructor, and plenty of additional BB instructors. A variety of training partners young, old, small, big, etc. Both competition and hobbyist (for the lack of a better word). Clean. Good schedule. And a great atmosphere – mutual respect, concern for safety, and an opportunity to learn. Check it out…in no time you will have a closet full of gi’s…

I love this gym and try to roll here every day. One of the best parts of the gym for me is the variety of others to learn from. There are several black belt and brown belt instructors that each have their different styles which has allowed me to start figuring out what style works for me. Everyone has a great attitude and it’s a safe environment. The kids seem to love it here too. The new gym is very nice with multiple bathrooms/showers.

Soneca is one of best and most respected professors in the BJJ community! He runs an incredible academy and has one of the nicest, generous, and patient dispositions. I belong to a brother academy of Soneca and there’s a reason when he comes to do a seminar our whole academy shows up to train under him! If you want real BJJ in your area Soneca is who you want!

Soneca and his team are amazing the work they do with the kids goes well above jujitsu, he gets them ready for a brighter future by building their confidence and guiding them to become great. My kids love the classes and never want to miss a day. Bullying is real and kids usually don't speak or say much about it so let’s built their confidence in order for them to stand up for themselves and prevent things from happening. 2 great locations Marlborough & Worcester.

I’ve been cross training at this gym for two years. It is a long drive from my house, which is why it’s not my home gym but speaks to it being worth the drive for weekly visits! This team has become an extended jiu jitsu family. They’re always welcoming at class, open mat, and tournaments. The instruction is great from Soneca and he has so many black belts to learn from as well. This is a safe environment for women, and I’ve watched the kids class, which is taught by a female black belt who is a professional teacher and she does a fantastic job. This is definitely one of the best bjj gyms in New England.

Great place for a newcomer to start their journey, and a great place for others to continue their training! I've been coming here for about 2.5 years now and I wish I found it sooner. Great place for families, excellent kids class (my daughter LOVES it), and great people who just want to help you succeed. Edit 2/2022: Two daughters in it now, never looking back! The BEST AROUND!

These are some class acts that teach and train here. They encourage you to push yourself beyond your comfort zone, because there is no growth to be had in a comfort zone. I have only been to three classes so I am just starting my journey here. But my experience has been stellar so far. I can't wait to see where I'll be in the years to come. Thanks to Soneca, Arturo and the rest of the great people that train and teach here.

Primeiramente só tenho agradecer a equipe Soneca BJJ pelo maravilhoso trabalho que tem feito com todas as crianças. A academia Soneca BJJ é ambiente super familiar. Meu filho está no jiu-jítsu a 3 anos e tem ajudado muito ele com disciplina, foco , autoestima e resistência física. Meu filho é uma criança com problemas cardíacos super ativa mas devido a sua anomalia não conseguia manter o ritmo no exercício...cansava rapido. Soneca's 12 - 1 PM class with personal instruction from the man himself. Wednesday, and Friday! I'm there both, so if you see a white belt running around, that's me. Soneca has created an incredible studio and safe environment here in Marlborough. A clean, new location on 60 Mechanic St. with parking by the old State Armory. If you're looking to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it doesn't get any more authentic than this.

Great place for both kids and adults! My daughter loves it, and so do I! We've been going now for about 9 months. It's a true family and home away from home. She never wants to leave after her class is over, she wants to stay and hang out. I don't blame her either because that's exactly what I do haha. She gets exercise and knowledge while having fun, and I get the same. Even though the curriculum for adults and kids is different, the experience is the same. Lots of sweat and smiles! Come down and give it a try, you won't regret it. Oss!

Best master , Everilton soneca helped me since my beginning, its 8 years that im here training and im 100%sure that i want to get my black belt here. Totally recommend this place to everyone whose looking for a friendly environment, where all the professors and competitors are certified by IBJJF. Oss

Where do I begin. It's been three months since I started here, it already feels like a family when I go in to roll. I've been to other BJJ gyms, and Fenix in Marlboro stays true to the culture of BJJ. Respect, diligence, all that good stuff. The black belts here are high level athletes. In fact Fenix BJJ placed #1 in the Boston Open where athletes come from around the world. The instruction is always done thoroughly, and they do a good job of correcting everybody. It's a great experience being at this gym, if you try it you won't want to stop!

Three years strong so far at Fenix BJJ in Marlborough. Great team and awesome coaches. If your trying to learn BJJ for self defense or trying to compete at tournaments, Fenix in Marlborough is the right school to go to. There's a reason why this team is 2 time 1st place IBJJF Boston champions and has the most podium trophies than any other BJJ school in Massachusetts. I highly recommend taking a few classes and getting to know the Fenix Family!

Great instructors, the occasional knucklehead trying to injure people (seems like every gym has one 😂) but overall 99% of the people are great to train with and the atmosphere is very friendly and inviting.
