I tried a Gi class and absolutely loved jiu jitsu🥰 Everyone was super friendly, the space is nice and open, and the class itself was great. They also offer kids’ jiu jitsu classes and women’s self-defense. I did a drop-in class and they even provided a Gi (aka the jiu jitsu ‘pajamas’😁). If you’re curious about trying the sport, this is a great gym to start with! Martial arts, jiu-jitsu, bjj, Brazilian jiu jitsu

Love this place and the people that roll here. The culture is non toxic and the classes are well structured. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting or have been rolling for years, there’s a place for you in the class and everyone makes you feel welcomed. Everyone is also very down to earth and will undoubtedly help anyone with questions. Overall a 10/10, and lucky to have found this gem to learn BJJ.

The atmosphere at Six Blades Jiu Jitsu is one of a kind. As soon as my family and I walked in we were immediately made to feel welcomed and comfortable. The instructor Steve and his team are professional, informative and patient with the children. It's always a joy to see how engaged our daughter is in class and how much she looks forward to going to class. Hands down the best BJJ instructors in San Antonio.

Prof Steven Salas maintains a high level of professionalism, as does the entire staff at Six Blades Jiu Jitsu SA NW, making it the premiere place in San Antonio for ANYONE to learn Jiu Jitsu. The Self Defense or CORE curriculum is extremely practical and useful. I highly recommend everyone, at least, learn this. Thanks to Steve and the rest of the coaches, I have the confidence to defend my family, my community, and myself. My family and I moved from Hawaii to San Antonio a little over 2 years ago. We needed to find a new place to call home for Jiu-Jitsu. Considering where we came from that was a tall order....after visiting a few gyms we chose this place as our new home and our 'Ohana' was extended. If you're looking for a friendly place to train, whether it is for self defense or sport or both, you'll find it here. Good vibes, great people, my family of five found our home away from home! Also just want to say how proud I am of my wife Lorraine for having a heart to serve as a Women's Self-Defense Coach. She is excellent at what she does and well-versed in her craft.

Unfortunately I have a very chaotic and unpredictable work schedule. Six blades, with their extensive scheduling and great staff allow me to learn and practice jiu jitsu, that other places cannot.

Top tier training facility and high quality training led by some amazing instructors! The staff has great service, super helpful and very informative. Very welcoming from the moment you walk in. From Gi, No Gi and Self Defense, you can tell that all the coaches love what they do and you can see the passion for it while they teach, demonstrate and correct. It's a great family environment and a great feeling to know that everyone here carries an exceptional attitude about Jiujitsu and that the overall learning environment and facility is top notch!

I recently attended the women’s self defense class taught at Six Blades. Our instructor Lorraine was amazing and it was such a great environment for women and for this type of class. I really felt that I came away with the tools that I need in the event I am ever in a situation where I need to defend myself. Highly recommend!

Our family has had an incredible experience at Six Blades jiu-jitsu academy. My husband and both of our sons attend classes here, and the positive impact on their confidence, discipline, and physical fitness has been remarkable. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also patient and encouraging, making the learning environment both challenging and supportive. My son, who was initially shy, has gained so much confidence, and it’s wonderful to see him grow stronger, both mentally and physically, through his training. My husband also loves the sense of camaraderie and the opportunity to stay fit while learning practical self-defense skills. We’re so grateful to have found this academy and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to build strength, confidence, and a sense of community!

I’ve shared the mats for over 14 years with the other black belts. They’re not only some of my best friends, they are outstanding people. Steve is great at leading this school and I am happy to help any way I can to ensure his continued success. My family trains here also…it’s a great atmosphere for kids to learn well rounded jiujitsu, sport and self defense. We also train a lot of law enforcement. Two black belts are police officers.

Great place for the whole family! The coaches are very knowledgeable and hands on. Owner Steve is also hands on and works great with the kids. My youngest has become more confident since being here. They even have a women’s self defense class that my older daughter does. Their prices are unbeatable. Great atmosphere!

I enjoy training in this academy very much. The leaders are thoughtful and eager to share their knowledge with the students. It is a family environment. I actually got here because I love how they teach children. I recommend it 100%. P.S I have been training here for 17 months now.

My significant other and I spend a lot of time at Six Blades NW SA. We’ve been training for coming up on a year, and we’re so thankful we've been welcomed in to the family. The environment is encouraging, patient, and best of all welcoming to folks from all walks of life. When we have to skip class for whatever reason we miss not just the sport, but the community. I think that speaks volumes to what they’re doing here. We are very fortunate to share our time with the instructors, students, and staff at Six Blades.

This jiujitsu academy is wonderful. My two boys started a year ago and then I signed up. The atmosphere is very friendly and encouraging. My kids have gained more confidence and self discipline. All the professors are very kind and teach the art of bjj very well. It is a great way to get your exercise in and learn a practical martial art. Also my kids go Mon-Sat and they love it. They have made so many friends and love to hang out afterwards while I do my class. My boys have competed at tournaments and will compete again. The support from the professors is amazing. It’s like an extended family. I could go on and on about this place, but you just gotta check it out! If you are looking for a jiujitsu academy Six Blades is the place to be!

My girlfriend has been to the women’s self defense class a few times and really enjoys every session with Lorraine! She’s knowledgeable, professional, and has amazing work ethic. Everyone really knows how to make you feel like family. Whether you’re interested in a class for your child or yourself, this place is it!! Can’t wait til our son turns 3 so he can join also

I just started here at Six Blades! I was unsure of this was going to be for me since I have no experience with any jiu jitsu. I signed up for the self defense aspect of bjj. The instructors here are awesome and work great with you. They break down everything they teach at your level. They make you all feel welcome and comfortable here like family. The facility is very clean and the mats do not smell or look dirty. I have been here a little under a month and I have taken advantage of almost every class they hold. They teach both sport and self defense! It’s imperative you do both classes! I loved it so much, I signed up both of my kids! The kids classes are great! They get to interact with other kids and exercise right after school! It’s a safe environment for the kids and the instructors watch closely to mitigate any injuries. My kids have been going for about three weeks and I already see a change in their confidence. They want to come back everyday, so I bring them as much as I can. You will not regret signing up you or your kids to be apart of the Six Blades family!
