The team of instructors do a great job of taking their time explaining the drills and important parts of the skills being taught. There are plenty of instructors that is one or a few students need a little extra work, it happens. The kids appear to always be willing to learn and certainly enjoy the end of the class with the game/drill that reinforces skills learned. Job well done all!

Coach Jason Finnell is one of the best coaches I’ve had the pleasure to train alongside with. He is extremely knowledgeable in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and his attention to detail when breaking down and demonstrating a technique is top notch. He is always very helpful in helping students fulfill whatever goals they have in the sport, whether it be competing, self defense, or just having a hobby and getting in shape. If you have thought about training in BJJ and live in the area or are just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by and training here with him.

I have been grappling for years, but I have only been at signal mountain Jiu-Jitsu for about a month. Great mix of students across the spectrum from white belt(new student) to black belt(senior instructor level), with a very chill vibe. Everyone i have interacted with has been very respectful, relaxed, and willing to learn, as well as helping each other learn. Great place to train regardless of your skill level.

I can’t recommend Signal Mtn Jiu Jitsu (SMJJ) highly enough! From the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed with open arms by the friendly instructors & community of students. Personally, I sat back & watched both of my kids for several weeks before joining classes. The immediate inclusion by the group for us as beginners demonstrated the academy’s dedication to helping each person develop their skills. The instructors are approachable, patient, & dedicated to helping students develop skills at their own pace to achieve their personal best. For kids, we have watched their confidence grow in ways we only hoped for! Great family activity!!

After years of training in a stand-up striking style of martial art, I joined SMJJ. Even though I am now starting over as a white belt, it has been a great experience. SMJJ is an excellent academy with instructors who genuinely care about their students. I had a lot of practical, hands-on training, and the environment is inviting and laid back. Though each class leaves me exhausted and spent, I walk away with new knowledge and having left everything on the mat.

Our soon-to-be 9 year old son has been going to SMJJ since October and loves it! You can tell the instructors are passionate about jiu jitsu and enjoy sharing it with the kids - that makes such a difference! I can tell my son is gaining valuable knowledge and skills while having fun. My favorite thing though has been watching his confidence grow! We look forward to many more classes in 2024!

Self defense, fitness, camaraderie. I’ve trained at 4 different academies while studying in university and have never seen such a focus on safety. SMJJ has a diverse set of instructors with backgrounds in Gi, No-Gi and wrestling. Highly recommended!!!
