Truly the best Martial Arts academy for Self Defense, High grade competition skills in both JiuJitsu/Kickboxing and Judo, and personal development. This academy very lax for casuals, super friendly and can aid anyone from any background or any skill level.
Oh we are so glad to have found Shane at Reign Jiu Jitsu in Boise. Professional coaching and communication, would recommend!
Very friendly sensei shane daughter enjoyed her trial class def signing up Thanks Shane
The best decision I made in my adult life was walking into REIGN for that free trial class. I put on that gi and I haven’t looked back since. The academy is incredible, clean with newly remodeled dressing rooms AND a kids area with a chalkboard and TV. My three year old “hangs out” while I attend class. The environment breeds passionate and successful students, who not only live the sport, but stick to it for years and years. The professor (and owner) is attentive, professional and has an abundance of knowledge not only of jiu jitsu, but also of judo and other martial arts. If you are hesitating (or making excuses why you can’t) you are only limiting yourself. Do yourself the biggest favor you can and train at REIGN jiu jitsu. Not only will you be in the best shape of your life, the lessons you learn on the mat spill over into your life and assist you in situations you would never expect.
Been taking my kids here for 4 years great place!!
New bigger gym, new association, amazing and friendly team, incredible coach, and crazy lineage. What more could you want from a jiu-jitsu school?!
I feel lucky to have found Professor Shane and the team at Reign! It’s been an amazing year of training with a team that has become family.
This is the place if you want to learn jui jitsu with a purpose. It's a family full of support and encouragement!!! Great place to burn off that extra energy.
If you look back 2yrs, you’ll see my first review under an old account I had, “In Pursuit of Mastery”. I stand by that review. Since then, let me add a few more things to the credit of REIGN Jiu Jitsu... I have been training at REIGN Jiu Jitsu (formerly 208 Combat Club / 208 Fight & Fitness) for almost 2 & 1/2 years now. With well over 15 years in Jiu Jitsu alone, Professor Shane's style of instruction is simple, clear and personable. He's great at giving insight and the "why" regarding techniques being done a certain way. From BJJ Competitors to the Hobbyist, from MMA and Kickboxing contenders to the enthusiast, there is a place for everyone at REIGN. The team culture that has been fostered here is exceptional, you won't find a shortage of people willing to help you get better here. Anyone who wants to try BJJ or Kickboxing should look no further than getting their feet wet here at REIGN!
I have been training at 208 Combat Club for about 3 months now and love it! I feel like a part of the family and have learned so much from all the coaches and Professor Shane Thomas. The instruction is broken down into a well thought out systematic system. Each new technique we learn flows into the next, helping all the students build a solid ground game. I encourage anyone who ever thought about trying out BJJ, stop in to check out a free class. I bet you will be hooked from day one!!
I’ve love training at 208. I never imagined I would be doing this a year ago but I’ve grown so much. I’ve also seen a lot of positive changes in my 3 boys as they have trained.
Happy to be a part of the team at 208. Fun people to be around and great coaching every day at this gym.
Great coaches and atmosphere! would recommend this gym to anyone!
This place is life changing. Even after working hard all day I still look forward to going and training with my team mates after work. The instructors are one of a kind and care about the students like family. Regardless of your level of fitness, 208 can help anyone enjoy a more healthy and active lifestyle. Love 208 Fight and Fitness!!
I came for my first class and was pretty much terrified because I had never tried anything like jujitsu before. Coach Shane said I had nothing to be afraid of and as class started my insecurities were put to rest. Instructor Karina devoted all her time to helping me with techniques and to feel comfortable. I walked away loving everything about this gym. Thank you Shane and Karina for giving me such a rewarding experience. I look forward to training with you both weekly! Ps- My abs have never been this sore. Sixpack here I come.
I'm still very new to Jiu Jitsu and this gym, but so far it has been an amazing experience and Coach Shane and Karina along with the other students are extremely helpful. If you are new to the sport looking for a gym with great instruction and a supportive atmosphere complete with great tunes I'd highly recommend this spot!
Great environment to train. Coach Shane and Karina are extremely knowledgeable and you always feel like they are invested in your learning and skill development.
All four of our kids ages 5-12 train with Coach Shane and Coach Karina. We are so pleased with their kind yet firm style of teaching. They make class fun and challenging. Their central location and fair pricing sets them apart. I am thankful for their investment in our kids not only as jiu jitsu students but as young people in the community. We highly recommend them!
I'm a new student at 208 Jiu Jitsu and also new to BJJ, and I absolutely love this school. A friend and co-worker suggested I try it and I was hooked my first day. It is a fun and friendly training environment but also challenging and tough, I learn something new each day. The instructors are awesome and foster a training environment where each and every student can learn as a team. I would highly recommend "This" school if you are interested in Jiu Jitsu or Kick Boxing.
The school, the instructors, and the students are everything you could ask for. This is the best mat I have ever trained on (not a wresting mat where your toes stick and get injured. ) The atmosphere is great! Very welcoming and laid back but also has a structured purpose. Great music to roll to, very positive and encouraging students that are willing to help you out and help you grow your skills. The instructors care about the students, and they get to know each person's learning style, making it easier for people to learn. I highly recommend this place!
Coach is awesome and knows his stuff! I take both kickboxing and jiu jitsu and have been loving both! Atmosphere is relaxed and fun, great for learning. Would recommend to anyone looking to start or continue training.
Top notch training and instruction from Shane and Karina that will get you into great shape while feeling confident about self defense. The gym is always a welcoming and friendly environment. You will feel great about training there!
This place is the best. If your looking to further your career as a combat ninja or just get in shape while meeting some great people, this is the place for you. Everyone here is trying to learn and will help you get better everyday. I'm not one hundred percent on this but I'm pretty sure coach Shane spent some time training with Batman in the mountains of Tibet for a little while. So if that isn't enough to convince you to come I'm not sure what will. My patriotism has also increased by 1776% by hanging out with all these awesome vets and law enforcement ladies and gents that attend. Everyday you train will make you glad that you chose this gym over all others because it is the best. And when your children ask you one day how you became a champion warrior you can sit them down on your knee and tell them about the best day of your life. When you chose to go to 208. The end.
I have been training at 208 for around 2 months now, with a primary bavkground in lifting weight...so this type of training seemed exciting, but intimidating at the same time. But, after showing up on day ONE I literally already felt like part of the team. Coaches and members are legit some of the coolest people I know, and I can already feel myself getting better! Highly recommend this gym for anyone who might be on the fence about this type of training. The welcoming environment takes all the nerves away!!
I've been training under Shane (head coach & brown belt) and Karina (assistant coach & purple belt) for three months now. Having never trained in BJJ before, I found their approach to instruction to be open, challenging and rewarding. Let me explain. The instructors are approachable and open to answering your questions, repeating and walking you through techniques to make sure you understand the process as well as give you both a micro and macro understanding of why a certain technique or approach is optimal for a particular situation during a roll. The overall atmosphere is open and inviting. Regardless of height or weight, there are multiple body types to train with. This offers its own unique challenges and learning experiences regardless of rank as you learn how to utilize the techniques you learn against bigger or smaller opponents, which ones work one way and how others work another. Every class is rewarding in and of itself as you are challenged physically as well as mentally. Shane has continued to add value to the memberships by offering more classes and highly competitive prices. If you haven't begun yet, I highly recommend getting on board as they are offered a beginners class: 2x/wk at only $59/mo. I am on the unlimited BJJ plan at $79/mo and for those tempted to go "all the way" Shane offers unlimited BJJ and Dutch Kickboxing for $99/mo! Long story short: get after it, and come see what 208 BJJ is all about!
I've been training BJJ for over 3 years and I travel all over the country. While traveling the country, I visit a lot of different BJJ schools and let me tell you, this is an awesome school to train at. The instructor is what you should be looking for - friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is what you should be looking for - no egos, welcoming and tight knit. The environment? Clean, spacious and comfortable. Can't ask for much more and I can't wait to come back and visit again! 🤙🏻
I wasn't looking for a gym or even to start training Jiu Jitsu or kickboxing but from the moment I started I was hooked! What makes the experience even better is the wonderful coaches and teammates. Coach Shane and Karina both take the time to really make sure that you're getting the most out of your training. Teammates are really invested in helping you learn and improve. I never, not for one second, felt uncomfortable. The environment is fun, always laughs and smiles, but still with serious training. I couldn't imagine not training with Coach Shane, Karina, and all of the 208 Crew.
Awesome place to learn Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing. Classes are relaxed and comprehensive, and its always fun to go. Highly recommend for any skill level
