If you want to learn the art that is BJJ then this is the only place to train. You get way more than what you pay for. Alain, Sarah and the team have helped mould some of the best BJJ athletes to come out of the UK. Top level competitors just pop in to train. You won’t get that anywhere else in Chelmsford. The members are welcoming and there is a real family vibe. Trust me this is the best place to train.

I was looking for a BJJ gym local to Chelmsford so I could get fit and so I have something to look forward to each week. After trying a couple of other BJJ gyms in Chelmsford and finding that they were very clicky I finally found Reef Academy. Everyone at Reef Academy is so friendly and very welcoming to new members. On my first session they made me feel at home with no awkwardness. I could not recommend Reef Academy enough. The coaches are so talented and friendly. Take full advantage of having this amazing academy on our door step and pop down to meet everyone

Quite simply Reef Jiu Jitsu is the best place to train in the South East. This is down to several factors. It is perfectly located in Chelmsford with Pay and display parking to the rear. There is also free parking the other side of Park way. The unit is newly renovated with toilets, a shower and most importantly a spring loaded floor with permanent high quality mats as well as matted walls. They are regularly cleaned and hygiene is well maintained. The coaching staff are of elite level. Both Alain and Sarah are elite level black belts who are highly regarded locally and internationally, both with extensive success in competition. They have a reputation for evolving beginners into fierce competitors many of whom compete at elite level. I’ve witnessed this through seeing my nephew progress to highly competitive in a short space of time. Through Alain’s network and group of elite black belt students nationally he invites regular elite level guest coaches most weeks. This makes sessions varied and often focuses on unique details and approaches to help refine technique. Finally, and in my eyes most importantly there is a high level of support and comradery between team members. This bond goes right throughout the cub from coaches to beginners. If you are looking to try BJJ, or need a new club look no further!

Reef Jiu Jitsu, what an awesome place to learn and train Jiu Jitsu. Over many years of being on and off training at different BJJ gyms around the country in my early years. Without being sounding a little over selling but this is the best academy I’ve trained in. The instructors at Reef are not just knowledgeable but also understand students individual needs and reasons why we training. Reef is very clean and hygienic unlike some martial academy I’ve been to. Good experiences and a mixture of people of all different backgrounds, different grade/belt level to train with also. Everyone is very friendly and don’t train with egos. Never felt unsafe or intimidated with any training or members at Reef. I whole heartedly would recommend Reef Jiu Jitsu to anyone who’s looking into starting a new hobby or martial arts training.

The absolute best place to train BJJ in chelmsford. Elite coaching, clean mats, good friendly atmosphere, easily accessible parking, reef has it all. The coaches are decorated competitors who have competed at the highest levels, this knowledge and experience has trickled down to the students as the gym has produced many champions. 5 stars out of 5 isn’t a high enough rating!
