I’ve been attending classes at this gym for over a year. I joined to learn self-defense for personal growth—not to become a professional MMA fighter. While I’ve grown in many ways, I feel it’s important to share an honest review. The training can be intense and rewarding, and there are instructors and members who genuinely care and help create a positive environment. However, I’ve also experienced moments where I felt dismissed or judged for taking care of my body—whether it was stopping for water or needing a short rest. This made me feel unwelcome and even ashamed for listening to my own needs. Especially when im trying my best to keep up. Everyone should feel safe to learn, grow, and train at their own pace—especially in a space that’s meant to empower. I hope this feedback encourages more compassion and awareness in how students are treated, because physical strength means nothing without emotional respect.
Posted 8 months agoI have been very impressed with the instruction & positivity during my sons classes. He’s learning great skills as well as how to combine it with a positive attitude and high respect for himself and those around him. Eli & Aleks have been so great to work with. Highly recommend!
Posted 3 years agoMy 11-year old daughter and I have been attending classes for several months. This has been a lovely and wonderful experience. Instructor Eli is experienced, not only in breadth of martial arts knowledge, but also in child and adult learning. He is excellent with kids, teaching them technique and also lifestyle lessons. I’ve seen my daughter’s confidence, athleticism, and martial arts skill increase exponentially as a direct result of his instruction and mentorship. The level of respect that Instructors Eli and Alecks afford to all students of every age, background, and skill level is refreshing and inspirational. I attend the adult class. Having a martial arts background already, I find my time in class to be highly enjoyable. The health benefits, both physically and mentally, are something I’m not willing to go without, and so I look forward to my twice-weekly classes. It’s also a great bonding experience for me and my daughter, both earning our belt ranks together. As an adult, the physical health aspect is great. For anyone wanting to be healthier while also learning practical self-defense skills, this is an excellent class to join. From day-one, you’ll walk away with a new skill. Overall, the PMA network provides the North Ogden location with plenty of support. All of the instructors and staff from all school locations are welcoming, professional, highly experienced, kind, compassionate, and fun. The belt promotion ceremonies are epic where students from all location gather. There’s a big emphasis on family, where parents, guardians, and adults in each child’s life is invited to participate in awarding new belts to their student. It’s a wholesome and inclusive experience.
Posted 3 years agoWe enjoyed the school and have nothing negative to say about the facilities, teachers, or environment. The negative review is because we were charged after we decided to take a break and no one seems to be able to help us correct the situation. We have called, emailed, and gone into the facility to get help, but have not had any response. They were super easy to sign up with, but it has been a really poor experience trying to get our money back.
Posted 11 months agoMy daughter found them for my young granddaughter. I went to the initial meeting and was so impressed by Kiera, and the curriculum that I signed up as well. Instructor Eli is an amazing asset, and Alex is very informative when it comes to the way it works and getting people taken care of. Thank you for helping this 50 year old feel young for a bit.
