I recently reached out to Popkin- Brogna as I wanted to enroll my kids. Their customer service is excellent and they get back to you quickly. Nick and Joseph whom I had been in touch with were very friendly, polite and helpful as they took the time to answer all my questions. I also appreciated the weekly emails on what benefits kids get by partaking in the program. Lastly, I had a chance to sit in on the class today and was impressed with the way they start and wrap up the session with motivation! During the session you can see how the senseis take time to work with each child. I highly recommend this Jujitsu Center.

My son started at Popkin Brogna when he was in Kindergarten. My son isn't into sports, and I wanted him to have some sort of physical activity to go to that also would help him improve his self-confidence. I also was concerned that since he wasn't into sports, he would be picked on as he got older. I wanted him to learn some self-defense (verbal and physical) to stand up against the bullies. Popkin Brogna was the perfect fit. It isn't just about learning Jujitsu. It's about improving confidence and teaching discipline. It's learning how to stand up for yourself. I definitely recommend Popkin-Brogna. Edited in 2024 to note that my kid is still attending and still loves it there! 2 years and counting.

The senseis and senpais are so good at what they do. Yesterday I partook in a special mother's day class and before then, I think I knew intellectually that the jujitsu center was more than just an extracurricular. But yesterday, I really got to experience and internalize what they are imparting to our kids; leadership, confidence, accountability, focus, respect, communication. And it's more than just a credence on the wall. The recitations and affirmations are incorporated into action, daily. I knew I wanted my kids to learn Japanese Jujitsu as that’s one of the best methods for self defense and chose this dojo based on its stellar reviews. After almost a year of having my kids attend, I can say that the reviews are not over exaggerated. This is a wonderful program with a focus on positive behavior and building confidence. I don’t know how they do it but the Senpais bring the same positive energy day after day, week in and week out. They also offer several special events which unfortunately we haven’t been able to participate in due to scheduling but they all seem super fun and is a nice add on for anyone looking for energy burning activities on a Friday night. Highly recommend this dojo.

I absolutely love taking my kids to PBJC! I take my 6yr old son and 4 yr old daughter there. My son is not only learning to defend himself but also learning skills that he could use in daily life. My daughter is in the mini ninja class and she loves it! The instructors keep the class fun and engaging. The facility is clean and the equipment is cleaned after every class. This place is amazing. This is going to sound cheesy, but watching the sensais work with the kids is truly inspiring. Seeing the kids stand in front of the room and present life credos in front of their peers is not only amazing reinforcement but also a life skill that so many people need. Watching the kids master their skills, improve their physical fitness and learn key methods to self defense is really just the cherry on the top. My 9 y/o daughter recently joined PBJJC after a 5 year hiatus. She struggles with ADHD, Anxiety, Impulse control and confidence. In just the 2+ months she has been back, her focus, attention, and confidence has grown immensely. She’s speaking up more in school. She’s initiating with peers. Her motivation to want to always try harder is something to be admired. It was hard for her to go back. She left because she advanced to a higher class and got overwhelmed by the class size. She was determined to do it this time , with all new senpais, and new students. From day 1, she has felt welcomed and now looks forward to the next day she gets to go to class. Watching your child find an activity they feel good about themselves is such a dream as a parent. We are so appreciative to all the staff- Senpais Nick (yes, there are 2), Sensei Howard, and Sensei Joe. It takes a village and we are blessed to have PBJJC as part of ours.

This dojo is one of the BEST. Our son started here last year in 5th grade. He had impulse issues specifically with self control which affected his grades. This dojo has been a major impact in his overall improvement/development. Now he is doing excellent, and is a part of the principals honor roll. If you are looking for a program that involves discipline, self control, fun, confidence etc. I highly recommend this dojo, the teachers are excellent with the kids. And the instructors are professional, supportive and very welcoming. The moment you step through the door you are treated like part of the family. Three months in and my son's confidence has already skyrocketed. He absolutely loves his time in the dojo. I’m pretty sure he’d live there if he could. His behavior at home has greatly improved as well. The sensais are phenomenal teachers, mentors and guides. They not only teach what is needed on the mat but are even more so focused on what happens outside the dojo. My daughter is 6 years old. She’s been going to Popkin-Brogna since September. At the time when she first started going she lacked self-confidence and was extremely shy. Since then I have seen quite a change in her. A lot of this is due to her training at Popkin-Brogna where they are teaching her the necessary skills so she can be successful not only in school but socially as well. For example, she wanted to share a book with her 1st grade class but was a little worried. She told me that she said to herself “ I can do this”. This is something she is taught to say in Popkin-Brogna. She took a few deep breaths and read the book to her class. She felt great and courageous afterwards. We feel that what she learned at Popkin-Brogna helped her overcome her shyness. We are really proud of her.

I found Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu Center on FB during school closing when kids were craving for interaction with their peers. Both my sons, a teenager and a 7 year old look forward to their sessions every week. The younger one always describes the sessions as fun! They are not only learning about self defense but other important skills such as communication, leadership and being emotionally well-balanced. The dojo is clean. Our daughter Alina has been going to Popkin-Brogna for almost 2 years. I am forever grateful to all the instructors at the Dojo. They are dedicated, compassionate and genuinely care about the progress of each and every student. They work with your child as much as possible. They emphasize a positive learning environment and are passionate about what they do. Our daughter was promoted to high orange today. We are unbelievably proud if her. Alina did not pass the first time and she was disappointed. There were many tears, but I encouraged her and told her it's ok she is doing great but needs to work harder and that is exactly what she did. I really love this dojo. They recognize when a child works hard and they always provide feedback when they notice a child needs to work harder to accomplish their goals. I teach Alina it's not about the belt. Yes it's a wonderful accomishment, but more importantly I want her to have fun learning. I also want her to be able defend herself if she ever comes across in a situation. Hopefully she will never have to use what she learns, but I feel better knowing she can. She is more confident, disciplined and determined. She practices at home and we are trying to commit to at least 3 classes per week. The belts are more challenging and she needs more time to learn all the required techniques. I just want to say thank you to all of the instructors once again. I appreciate everything you've done for Alina. I've met many friends and it truly is an amazing place.

My kids has been going to PBJJC for a year now and they have developed self esteem, discipline and confidence. They are always looking forward in going to their dojo not just to train but learning good virtues that they can apply not only in dojo but also in their everyday encounters either in school or at home. Kudos to the staff who are very patient and who does a child friendly approach in order for the kids in dojo to instill discipline and the correct mind set. I’d give more stars if I could. My 5 year old daughter absolutely loves coming to the dojo four times a week. I actually found Popkin Brogna Jujitsu via Groupon a year and a half ago. I couldn’t be happier about discovering this gem, especially since I’m selective about where I send my daughter. The classes are structured, safe, and well planned. Students not only learn technique but also leadership, interpersonal and public speaking skills in order to confidently use their voice in any situation. My daughter has become stronger physically, emotionally and mentally. Sensei Steve, Sempai Ahmed, Sempai Munpreet and Sempai Emily’s competence level is shown through their ability to effectively teach hard and soft skills while still making it fun to learn. Everyone from the staff to the parents are respectful and helpful. Their birthday parties are also super fun.

We registered both our kids at this dojo in September 2018. It's been 5 months and both my kids really enjoy it. Our son didn't talk in school for over a year, we took him to get evaluated and they said he wasn't comfortable in social settings. He went to weekly therapy and we decided to have him join karate to build his confidence. It took a couple of of months, but we are so pleased with his progress. I cried when I saw him participate and yell out all the moves in front of his classmates with pride. The instructors are so caring and compassionate. It truly is such a wonderful experience being a part of this family. Our daughter Alina is 7 and is very competitive. She also used to get super upset if she couldn't do something in class. Well that changed. The instructors worked with her and she is so confident, and wants to excel. It's very important to her to get her next color belt. I'm not a pushy mom, I want her to get her next color belt, but when she's ready. I want her to continue to have fun and be the amazing kid she is. This school is certainly the place for her. They are motivating, well rounded, they attend workshops to improve their techniques in class, which I think is important. They also take the time to talk to a student who is having a bad day In class. Alina was alittle upset because she wasnt at her best in class today. The instructors pointed out all of the wonderful things she accomplished in class. Well that brought a smile to her face. I want to tell you a story about my daughter.My daughter was born with feeding difficulties and extremely low muscle tone. As a result, she couldn’t take a bottle or a pacifier, she would choke and gag on her own saliva because her low muscle tone did not allow for her to manage it on her own. She couldn’t lift her head up off the floor and her neck was tipped to one side because she had to sleep in an upright position so she wouldn’t choke in her sleep. She has been getting therapies since 3 weeks old and still struggles physically although she has come a VERY long way. My daughter is also extremely shy and will shut down in certain social situations especially when adults she isn’t comfortable with try to talk to her. She is a hard worker but could not keep up with her peers physically and really struggled when she tried to play soccer. She just couldn’t keep up and it was heartbreaking watching her try. We decided to try karate at Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu Center the confidence they provided with her to feel she was capable of doing everything that all the other kids could do was immeasurable. But, she still did it without her voice. Two weeks ago, all of a sudden she began to talk on the mat to the sempai and today she earned a gold stripe from another parent who she had to talk to in order to get it! She also said what she had to say FOR karate like counting her punches that she started in the spring it caused her to shut down! Now, that’s a ninja! So proud! We absolutely love Popkin brogna and recommend it to anyone!!

I've met a lot of school owners over the years and none of them care about their students as much as the owners of PBJJC. This school is so focused on not just great martial arts instruction but also on teaching the whole child (the focus on life skills is fantastic). I couldn't reccomend a better school for your child to attend.

This is by far the best investment I have ever made for my girls. My husband went to a class today and was so impressed. I highly recommend Popkin Brogna. They are kind &compassionate and skilled. We have been so impressed with the instructors and culture at Popkin Brogna! The dojo is managed by seasoned middle school teachers and you can really see the educators perspective throughout the classes. The senseis support the students to reach their emotional, social and physical goals in a structured and motivating atmosphere. And of course, the kids have a super fun time along the way. Honestly, we could not be more satisfied with the experience over the past year and plan on continuing next year as well!

I love the effect that Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu has had on my daughter! We've been going for a year now, and I've seen tremendous growth. From the start, I saw an increase in confidence and coordination. She has now become more attentive and respectful. She is also learning to set goals, work to achieve them, and handle disappointment. My 4 year old joined the dojo less than a month ago. I never expected to see results SO quickly, but I did and continue to see the progress in my daughter every day. I chose to sign her up for Martial Arts because she struggles with impulse control, discipline, self confidence and social skills. I decided to pay for a 6 week trial and within the first two minutes of walking in, I was majorly impressed. All of the staff greeted us in such a personal manner. They made us feel like we had been members for years. My daughter now comes home from school and runs to put her karate gi on. She practices her “moves”, she uses the language the Senseis teach her, and most importantly she is so happy! She goes around telling everyone she’s a special white belt. In just a couple of weeks my daughter’s confidence has increased and she is feeling such a sense of pride. Aside for sharing pictures and videos of the children, the senseis share educational parenting tips and skills. I really cannot recommend this place more and I look forward to how much more my daughter gains from being here!

My 6 yr old daughter loves this martial arts school. We used to go to UFC gym Brazilian Jujitsu but it was way too crowded there with only one instructor in a class of 20 or more students. She needed to be in an environment that the instructors can give her a little bit more one on one time. My main goal for my daughter is that she will be able to defend herself if needed and that is their main focus. The Popkin-Brogna Jujitsu dojo has a fun environment but still maintains and expects discipline for its students.

My son and I absolutely love this place! My son started in here when he was 4, now he is 5 and I have seen the big change in him. He is a better listener. All of the teachers are wonderful. They always there for you to answer any questions you might have. They have so much patience with the kids and the kids are always so focussed and listening to the teachers. The incentives they have for the kids are great definitely recommend this place to anyone. Also they have parents night out once a month for 3 hours and let me tell you my son loves it so much he cannot afford missing oone of this (and me neither some time off 😁)

My son has been attending PBJC for about a year now. He started at only 3 and a half years old and has been the youngest in the group, but was given a chance after a trial run. It is amazing to see the growth and improvement he has displayed in such a short time. Each sensei has their own style of teaching and while they are all different, the passion they have for martial arts is very clear. Working with children of all ages requires a lot of patience and they do a great job when it comes to both having fun and providing discipline at the same time. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is considering martial arts for their child.

We enrolled our daughter as a free trial on Groupon as something for her to do and to help keep her focused. Little did we know we were going to get more than that! Popkin Brogna Jujitsu has built upon the principles that we already established with our daughter: integrity and accountability. All of the Sensei’s and Sempei’s are trained in Jujitsu. The Sensei’s: Steven, Howard, Joseph and the Sempei’s: Stephanie, Nick and Amy all take a vested interest in your child’s development to help them grow and learn a martial art. Also, they have a parent class once a week where you can practice the techniques your children are learning to help them advance. What we really like is they do not do social promotions, which means your child has to really work hard to earn their belt in order to advance. They just opened a brand new state of the art dojo. They have become extended family and we plan on sending our son there when he gets of age.
